Eric 'Tchotchke' Aschner 2015-02-12T14:58:48-05:00
Just sayin' a whole weekend devoted to it? Bit much, even for mine.
Marissa "Blondie" Brice 2015-02-12T14:59:38-05:00
LZ I am so curious and psyched to see your next installment in this comic stop teasing us XD
@Blondie: Without my headphone in one ear...the accounting department is like King Tut's tomb before it was opened after being sealed for however many years. Aside for the clicking of mouse buttons, and the odd keystroke(takes me ~30seconds per invoice, normally I have ~100 to enter in a day, so averaging 50/hr give or take a few).
@PoT: The amount of money for our backer levels in and of itself is not high, on Pono there were tiers maxed out that were up to $5,000.... we beat him by sheer volume...
Marissa "Blondie" Brice 2015-02-12T15:01:11-05:00
@GM that sounds terrifying no wonder you are half asleep!
Bob "Powers of Tesla" Lindley 2015-02-12T15:01:19-05:00
Ah... Yes. That has been the case with all of the top tier projects I have noticed.
Kevin "Lord Zombitten" Buckner 2015-02-12T15:02:08-05:00
I stream Pandora at work and route it through my bluetooth headset. That way, I get all the music in one ear, instead of whatever's on the left side
Marissa "Blondie" Brice 2015-02-12T15:02:16-05:00
Anyone else curious to see what happens when we get to that final 48 hours and KS sends out the mass email to EVERYONE who starred this project to be "reminded" about sees the insanity that has occurred here? lol
@Blondie: I prefer my payroll duties...I actually have to use my brain. Thankfully starting Tuesday I am full time Payroll. So always going to be busy, especially since I will be in-charge of the special projects. Get to make the payroll manual that should have been completed before I even started with the company(I've been here since September).
@Blondie: We're going to blow up.... we may even take down most of the internet. We certainly caused some havoc on day one...
Mike Kabala 2015-02-12T15:03:48-05:00
@GM, I'm actually happy when it's quiet around here. I work with a lot of ex-pats and when they start talking, the whole room erupts with a Hidi cacophony!
@LZ: I have my iPod going with over 6k songs, with genres ranging from Classical(Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Bach, etc) to Death Metal. Pretty much EVERYTHING in between, just no Rap or Hip Hop. Can't stand that crap.
Mike Kabala 2015-02-12T15:05:08-05:00
Remember, Pono was asking people to put up $300 each, compared to $35 each here.
Kevin "Lord Zombitten" Buckner 2015-02-12T15:05:31-05:00
Yay for special projects! Come the 17, that's mostly what I'll be doing. I won't have as much yime to spend in here at that point
Marissa "Blondie" Brice 2015-02-12T15:06:04-05:00
@GM - Well that sounds more exciting! Huzzah for that!
@Potatten - That's what I'm slightly scared/thrilled for, lol, we MAY get that 10M in funding with that final 48 hour push haha
@LZ: Since I will be the one working on it all, I just need the manager to check it over when it is close to being done to be sure nothing is missed.
Kevin "Lord Zombitten" Buckner 2015-02-12T15:06:57-05:00
I get quite the variety with Pandora, too, and I add to it every day. If I had a real ipod, I'd use that, but I only have a shuffle. 2GB is not enough space
@Blondie: I keep saying that's a possibility but no one seems to believe me.
Bob "Powers of Tesla" Lindley 2015-02-12T15:11:04-05:00
Okay. It appears the "#Update9" WAS shopped into that photo of "100" (actually fewer) people wearing cat ears that posted today. It seems it was taken at a rescue some time ago. Good eyes people.
I use a 60GB iPod touch. The only Apple product I will EVER own of my own free will, is an iPod(other than my tablet I was given for school, and haven't touched since). It's still got something like 23GB free. I need to make a run out to my friends place and get some more music from their 3TB music database...though I think it's gotten larger than that recently.
Mike Kabala 2015-02-12T15:11:42-05:00
@Potatten, I'm with you. It irritates me when people think they have a clue what the final funding amount will be. I've seen some amazing finishes!
Jaycee Dempsey 2015-02-12T15:12:04-05:00
I don't think the 66,000 backers who can't be bothered to like the Exploding Kittens Facebook page should get the cool new box. I'm surly.
Bob "Powers of Tesla" Lindley 2015-02-12T15:13:18-05:00
Kevin "Lord Zombitten" Buckner 2015-02-12T15:13:54-05:00
Very nice, GM. I was more dedicated to making the ipod work, but then T-Mobile decided that Pandora doesn't count against my monthly data allotment. At that point, I decided there was no reason to deal with the puny shuffle anymore
That Tasha.... is also what I'm saying lol. It's like a double edged sword. We can make it, as long as we don't take the internet down first....
Mike Kabala 2015-02-12T15:17:10-05:00
@Great Mountain, I had to get the 128GB iPhone 6 Plus because my music collection had outgrown my 64GB iPod Touch. Most of the music in my collection was ripped from hundreds of CD's which I own. I still prefer to rip from CD rather than purchasing a download. I reserve that for when I want a track that isn't available on CD. I might purchase something from the Pono Music Store if it will play uncompressed on my phone. The only bottleneck is that I like to listen via Bluetooth on my Beats headphones and Bluetooth has limited bandwidth. They came with a cord though, so I could still play High Def music that way.
@Cheetah: Yeah, 90% of what I have is ripped directly from CDs. Either by myself, or my friends family. Their dad does internet DJing, and that's why they have a 3TB music database.
Melissa "The Creeper" Nicole 2015-02-12T15:20:10-05:00
What's new? On a lunch break while cake bakes.
Edward J. Cunningham 2015-02-12T15:20:18-05:00
Don't know if we will pass $10M but when we pass $7M I plan to joke about how we can now hire Steve Saban to coach for us for a year.
Kevin "Lord Zombitten" Buckner 2015-02-12T15:21:25-05:00
Creeper, I'm drawing a splosion
Melissa "The Creeper" Nicole 2015-02-12T15:21:50-05:00
Ooooh. That sounds like fun.
Bob "Powers of Tesla" Lindley 2015-02-12T15:21:51-05:00
@Creeper. Are you a scratch baker or do you start from a favorite mix?
Melissa "The Creeper" Nicole 2015-02-12T15:23:44-05:00
Definitely scratch.
Bob "Powers of Tesla" Lindley 2015-02-12T15:24:23-05:00
Baking from scratch always tastes better. The mixes just always seem to be missing something....probably because the ingredients sit on the shelves for extra long.
@GM: Soemtimes it tastes like theres extra something that shouldn't be there...
Kevin "Lord Zombitten" Buckner 2015-02-12T15:26:17-05:00
Not only are mixes missi g something, it also seems that they frequently have too much salt
Bob "Powers of Tesla" Lindley 2015-02-12T15:27:04-05:00
I have had poor luck with scratch cakes. I always wind up going to Duncan Hines and adding mayo now.
Melissa "The Creeper" Nicole 2015-02-12T15:27:16-05:00
And ther are so many things added to it. Scratch is just butter milk eggs sugar vanilla. Debating taking a nap. Have made 120 red velvet balls, 60 frosted sugar cookies, 5 batches of caramel brownies, 12 vanilla heart cupcakes, and the ganache for the champagne truffles... I'm worn out and still have so much to do!
Marissa "Blondie" Brice 2015-02-12T15:28:11-05:00
@Creeper you are making me so hungry T_T actually, ALL this talk of making food from scratch is making me STARVING lol
...Creeper, having taking professional cooking course(they give you a crash course in baking too)...I understand the need for a nap after that amount of work.
Marissa "Blondie" Brice 2015-02-12T15:29:05-05:00
I sadly am not quite as talented as everyone else here who can cook from scratch so I may have to go to the nearest IHOP soon for some much needed brunch XD
Zack "KitKat" Rice 2015-02-12T15:29:21-05:00
pooooooooooooooo, how has nobody gathered 100 people in cat ears?
Bob "Powers of Tesla" Lindley 2015-02-12T15:29:44-05:00
I am so anxious for my new house with my new kitchen. I am going to LOVE cooking again.
Marissa "Blondie" Brice 2015-02-12T15:30:34-05:00
@Kitkat - Have you ever tried herding 100 people wearing cat ears? lol, it's about as tough as herding cats, just slightly less hissing involved, hopefully, haha
Melissa "The Creeper" Nicole 2015-02-12T15:30:45-05:00
Yeah. Think it might be better to nap as soon as this last batch is done, so I can work through the night if need be.
I keep being told that cooking, not baking, is the hardest thing to do. I guess that since I've always been able to combine things to taste good on instinct, I enjoy cooking more. Especially since it's more experimentation for me, while baking is too much of an exact science. I hate having to be exact in the kitchens.
Bob "Powers of Tesla" Lindley 2015-02-12T15:31:26-05:00
@Kitkat. I don't know about you, but I am unable to whistle up 100 people with cat ears willing to be photographed on a whim. But if you are, PLEASE, do so with alacrity.
Marissa "Blondie" Brice 2015-02-12T15:31:32-05:00
@ToS - Lucky! Congrats on the new home with awesome kitchen! I have been house hunting for so long now (4 years) I've almost given up all hope
Bob "Powers of Tesla" Lindley 2015-02-12T15:32:42-05:00
Cooking is art. Baking is science. I am much more comfortable with cooking things, although I do a lot of baking too.
I need to start house hunting...I really do need to move out of my parents house, even though it is helping me save money.
Melissa "The Creeper" Nicole 2015-02-12T15:32:58-05:00
I think baking is much harder- because of that exact science. You can't just throw things in. Chocolate gets a drop of water in it, and it seizes. Sugar gets cooked a few degrees more and it's ruined. It's ridiculously precise.
Zack "KitKat" Rice 2015-02-12T15:33:01-05:00
@PoT I have tried, and alas have failed, but I will continue to do so, I feel it is the only way we can reach 30 achievements
@GM: Baking is science, cooking is art. That's just a general rule of thumb. Baking gets more complicated when you make a living mixing the two like creeper does.
Marissa "Blondie" Brice 2015-02-12T15:33:47-05:00
I am going to take a shower and grab said brunch that you have all made me starving for now XD
Hope when I come back it won't take me another half an hour to catch up with all the new comments lol
Bob "Powers of Tesla" Lindley 2015-02-12T15:33:52-05:00
My wife and I are building from scratch. I designed the whole thing. Hopefully we'll be able to start when the ground thaws.
@PoT: Living in a house you(or a family member) designed, is always better than buying something else and remodeling it to fit your desires. My dad designed our house, and our neighbours house(used to be my Uncle's, but he got moved away by his work).
Bob "Powers of Tesla" Lindley 2015-02-12T15:36:09-05:00
Thank you Blondie. Who knows, maybe we'll host a small con on our own.
Kevin "Lord Zombitten" Buckner 2015-02-12T15:36:14-05:00
I'm pretty good at both. Then again, I'm a scientist, so I can science pretty well. It always annoys my wife when I seemingly make something from nothing without a recipe. Like the time I accidentally made pad thai
Melissa "The Creeper" Nicole 2015-02-12T15:36:37-05:00
And PoT- that's amazing. Would love to be able to build a house from the ground up!
Tbh given how close we are to 30 and that only one of the remaining stretch goals is funding related surely they could just let us have it if it's as "awesome" as they say it is.
Bob "Powers of Tesla" Lindley 2015-02-12T15:39:19-05:00
It has actually been a trial of sorts. We purchased the land last spring and hoped to in the house by Christmas last year. Permits have been a nightmare. We have yet to break ground. I do not recommend the process unless you are something of a masochist AND independently wealthy.
My dream home...well, the kitchen would be awesome, small theater, nice large walk-in pantry(ever seen Chef Michael Smith's show? THAT pantry style), and well...not sure what else right now...still have time to save money.
Marie "Catness" C 2015-02-12T15:39:29-05:00
PoT, you accidentally made pad thai?
Melissa "The Creeper" Nicole 2015-02-12T15:39:29-05:00
That was just my excuse to show off one of my cakes. :)
David Cummings 2015-02-12T15:40:41-05:00
I'm not going to clog up the comments section by posting this over and over... but one more time to maybe show some people who weren't on the comments last night when we crossed over the six million milestone. I drew this to commemorate the occasion. We have the money, we have the technology....
Kevin "Lord Zombitten" Buckner 2015-02-12T15:40:54-05:00
No, Catness, I accidentally made pad thai
Melissa "The Creeper" Nicole 2015-02-12T15:41:05-05:00
All that being said- I had to look up how to boil an egg last year. Haaaa. I've got a few things I can cook well. But nothing fancy at all.
Mike Kabala 2015-02-12T15:41:18-05:00
@Lord Zombitten, I can remember when I was back in college and took a course in lab chemistry. I was quite surprised that I got a B in lab. I was also afraid of cooking at that time. Then a flash of inspiration hit. Cooking is Chemistry! Basically, you manipulate know substances in a controlled environment to achieve a desired result. I've been cooking ever since.
About like how I got over my fear of driving when I realized that a car is just a machine. I guess you just needed to explain things to me in Geek to get me over my fears back then.
@Potatten: I thought kittens doing cat-like things with explosives is what binds us.
Bob "Powers of Tesla" Lindley 2015-02-12T15:47:06-05:00
I thought it was giving Elan, Shane and Matt money...
Melissa "The Creeper" Nicole 2015-02-12T15:47:35-05:00
Potatten- hey! I mean... I didn't want to over...boil the egg. Do I put it in cold water and bring to a boil? Drop in boiling water? These were the questions I had!

Jaycee, you have every right to be

If I could afford to build my dream home, I would have a small castle
Pad Thai is amazing. Amazingly annoying to make sometimes, but an amazing dish.
I suck at science. And math. You should see how long it takes me when I have to cut a recipe in half and am trying to do fractions. I end up googling.
I find doubling is easier than cutting....

UWAH!!! The pic needs to go on the site now! Great contribution David.... more work for CB though.... :P
David. Can we put it in the website?
Well boiling an egg is one of those weird things....
I almost took a class called culinary chemistry, but it was full
I work with a competition barbeque (NOT bbq) team. We are Beer and Smoking in Las Vegas (not from Las Vegas). We compete in the KCBS.
Unless you don't want it to... we WILL give you a citation and credit for it. Just saying....
Are we talking about food again? *stomach growls*
@David Cummings, cool! Mind if I put that image on the news page?
@David: I like. You need to join the Corps, and that will be your minion. The Cybitten(Cyborg Kitten).
@Geist: We're always talking about food.... it is the thing that binds us.... it is the thing that created us... food is power, food is life......
@Potatten: I thought kittens doing cat-like things with explosives is what binds us.
I thought it was giving Elan, Shane and Matt money...
Potatten- hey! I mean... I didn't want to over...boil the egg. Do I put it in cold water and bring to a boil? Drop in boiling water? These were the questions I had!
@GM: That's just what brought us together :P
LZ, sorry. So many comments that I always remember who said what by the time I get back to the comments box. :-)
