@Geist: Only thing that I heard back was that they needed managerial references, but since I haven't kept in touch with any of my former managers, and don't have any way of contacting them(tried Facebook, can't message people I'm not connected to on LinkedIn without paying $35+/month - not happening, and typically they don't stick around restaurants that long), I haven't heard anything since I said that I tried getting into contact with some, and failed.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-08T12:02:45-04:00
@GM: Since your former positions were in another field entirely, they should accept this. I'm sure they have some understanding of the high turn over in the food service industry.
@Geist: You would think, especially since she was a VP in a recruitment agency.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-08T12:44:33-04:00
@GM: If you don't hear from her by next week, maybe you should shoot them an email to see how things are coming along?
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2018-06-08T16:19:44-04:00
Oh, for a second, I thought Geist was talking about Creeper getting back to you.
`
If I were still in Nebraska, I'd offer to roadtrip down to check up on her (and be the first to visit the bakery!), but that's a bit less than possible right now. Anyone know of any surefire way to contact her?
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-08T17:06:20-04:00
Creeper! Creeper! Creeper!
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-08T17:06:33-04:00
@Zem, sorry bro, I tried... ;)
Lord Zombitten 2018-06-08T17:20:18-04:00
I tagged her in a tweet
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2018-06-08T18:08:00-04:00
I'd love to hear from her again! If her plan was to make me want to just drive down there some saturday, well... it worked. Unfortunately, she mistimed things by a month or so and it's impossible just now.
How about this, if in the next month we still can't catch up with Creeper, I'll try as hard as I can to find the time and resources to drive down there with my brother to see if I can catch her at the homefront.
Lord Zombitten 2018-06-08T18:27:49-04:00
I just made a guitar pick out of my old concealed carry permit. How metal is that!
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2018-06-08T18:51:27-04:00
LZ, Hahahahahaha!!! That's too perfect!
Honestly, I don't think you could get more metal than that without literally making it from metal!
Andrej Milovac 2018-06-10T12:29:37-04:00
Hi to all of you people here! Have any of you tried the new crab game? I was very unsatisfied with Bears vs Babies and I don't want to buy another game that I will not play again :/
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-10T16:12:26-04:00
@Andrej: Personally, I haven't played BvB or Crabs just yet. Been super busy. If you don't mind me asking, what about BvB didn't you like?
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-11T08:26:08-04:00
@Andrej Milovac, Well "You've got crabs" is a completely different kind of card game, played in pairs with secret signals. So it plays quite differently than either EK or BVB. If you could tell us what you didn't like about BVB, perhaps we could give you more advice on Crabs. Fwiw, I haven't played BVB a ton, but when we have, everyone had a great time. As these are more comedy than serious, I find who you play with is just as important as what you play. If you're playing with a group of hardcore gamers, they may not like the comedy, and simplicity of the rules. If you're playing with casual gamers, looking to have fun and spend time with each other and play a game at the same time, then I think it plays fine.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-11T09:20:11-04:00
@Geist, we'll have to fix that! I've got a fur covered game just waiting for you to come up and play it! ;)
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-11T09:56:59-04:00
Hey BaKhan! I'm looking forward to taking my EK championship back from GM. ;-)
You didn't say which day would be good for me to come up and help with the party. I could arrive on a Wednesday or would Thursday be better for you?
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-11T10:07:11-04:00
@Geist, I was planning on taking that whole week off, so as long as I know when you're coming, I can make it work. As far as helping goes, well, I'll have stuff you could help with which ever day you decide works best for you! I dont' want to sound wishy washy, but as our guest, I also want to make sure that you have time to do what you'd like and not just help me cooking all the time, unless thats what you want to do! I want you to always have a good time, so that you'll always want to come back! ;)
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-11T10:07:54-04:00
@Geist, oh, and hate to break it to you, but that championship title is mine this year, all mine! Muahahhahahhahaha!
Lord Zombitten 2018-06-11T10:53:12-04:00
My 11th anniversary was this last Friday. We went and saw Infinity War. It was a great movie. My phone bricked itself about a half hour into it, though. It was still under warranty, so I get a replacement for "free," but it won't be here until tomorrow.
"Free" is in quotes because there's a $20 processing fee, and then I had to pay for expedited shipping because I can't be without a phone for two weeks. Fricken thieves...
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-11T10:59:57-04:00
@BaKhan: I love helping out. Decorating the basement, stuffing the goodie bags, sampling some of the snacks that will be served at the party. Honestly, I love being able to get away from my job and just relaxing with you, Misty, GM and all of your other friends. It's a brief bit of peace before I have to go back and face my daily chaos for another year.
However, if they vote to give Trump another 4 years, expect me to stay in the guest bedroom forever.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-11T11:02:10-04:00
$20 and some change is still cheaper than a phone a full price. So it's kinda like getting it for free. Did you back up your information? I keep forgetting to do that with my phone. You'd think I'd learn my lesson after losing my wallet.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2018-06-11T11:11:13-04:00
Hello everyone! Not much to report on my front except that it'll be a busy week for me and I forgot my aunt and uncle would be here, so I'll meet up with them tomorrow.
`
Oh yeah, and with our university class, we see a bunch of german theater. Which is fun, if not very often... interesting, let's call it.
The piece we saw yesterday was a version of Bluebeard, a story you probably all heard as kids (peasant girl marries rich guy, one room in the castle she can't go in, it has the dead bodies of his previous wives, something happens, he dies, she inherits everything, tha end), but that version probably wasn't 3 1/2 hours long with like 3 orgy scenes.
`
Like I said, german theater can be... VERY interesting.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2018-06-11T11:14:24-04:00
Haha, that's not even to mention the one with 6 people in clown masks and onesies mixing a sort of a bastardization of Hamlet with sex jokes and arabic religious texts switching between english, german, and arabic!
Like I said....... VERY "interesting"!
Most of it's pretty normal, though, and often quite a bit of fun, like that other one I talked about made from a set of poems basically deconstructing the language.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-11T11:21:38-04:00
@LZ, Happy Anniversary! I still haven't gotten a chance to see Infinity War yet... probably have to wait till blue ray now... oh well. ;) Sorry to hear about your phone, that must be frustrating!
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-11T11:22:02-04:00
@LZ & CB: Saw this and thought of your both. Kinda pricey for a book I might see how much the price is once it's on Amazon.
@Geist, well with the current upswing he's been having in popularity (which is pretty astonishing for an outsider to see), we'll just keep the guest bedroom open for you... ;) Hey, would that make it the Geist room? ;)
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-11T11:25:34-04:00
@Zem, well, I guess not expecting different cultures to be different, would be strange as well... ;) Glad you're having fun!
Andrej Milovac 2018-06-11T11:41:53-04:00
We played BvB a couple of times but it was so repetitive and lame :/ You are doing the same thing over and over again without any higher goal... It was dull without any interest or excitement...
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-11T11:44:11-04:00
@BaKhan: Geist room! I love it! I should bring a temporary sign to put on the door to the bedroom since it's keeping with Halloween and all.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-11T12:18:47-04:00
@Andrej, hmmm, well there are lots of card games where the goal is always the same and some folks have enjoyed playing them for years, the only dynamic that really changes is who you play them with. Poker, crazy 8's, cribbage, etc. Could you give me an example of a card game that you do enjoy? Based off of your comments about BVB, I'm not sure how to advise you without more info.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-11T12:41:24-04:00
@Geist, we'll make one, when you come down!
Andrej Milovac 2018-06-11T12:43:48-04:00
In EK your goal is to "survive" in BvB is almost the same but building the bears and fighting babies is not so fun as in EK where you are excited what are you going to draw and in what way you manipulate the draw or how to pass it. In BvB you are just doing the same boring things witout any excitment... This is how me and my playgroup fill about BvB.
Lord Zombitten 2018-06-11T14:12:45-04:00
My replacement phone came early!
Geist, I did have most of my stuff backed up
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-11T14:18:05-04:00
@LZ, huzzah!
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2018-06-11T15:36:26-04:00
Andrej, it sounds to me like you like the uncertainty of EK rather than the straight-forward battles of BvB, though both allow you to manipulate the game and other players.
I mean, they're both fairly repetitive games after playing for a very long time, it just depends on who you play it with, what you like to play, and how creative you are at "tweaking" the rules a bit for fun. Unfortunately, though, I haven't played the Crabs game yet, so I don't know what how to advise you on that.
Andrej Milovac 2018-06-11T15:53:09-04:00
@Micah: Every time we are playing EK we are having tons of fun and everbody are enjoying it. When we played BvB a coupe of time people easily get bored and started to play with their phones...
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-11T16:07:36-04:00
@Andrej: From my experience playing EK, you plenty of chances to try to back stab your friends by trying to get them to draw cards that cause them to get kicked out the game. That can be loads of fun with a group of friends. Sounds like there is a log less of that in BvB.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-11T16:15:30-04:00
BvB, is a lot of fun with the right people, and it needs to be gamed correctly. If people aren't paying attention, they can get blown away by those baby armies! There are still plenty of opportunities to mess with your friends too. I don't know, my friends have enjoyed it, when it gets brought out. That said, I don't think its a game for everyone. Also, no phones at the table. If you want to play on your phone, stay at home! Half the reason why we play the game is to spend time with each other, not just in each other's presence. Games, are supposed to be social!
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2018-06-11T17:42:48-04:00
I think that's it. BvB is a bit more slow and calculated. I've definitely screwed over my friends before, even if it took me down with them, but it's not as fast-paced or uncertain as EK.
It's sort of like poker vs blackjack, they're just fairly different games with different play styles, and times and people to play them with. Still fun, but I totally understand what you're saying, Andrej.
With as little as I do know about Crabs, I'd say it'd be more like BvB and less like EK, if that's any help. But again, I have never played it myself, or even seen it played.
Lord Zombitten 2018-06-11T23:29:44-04:00
I've played crabs. It's one that forces you to pay attention to what everyone else is doing, or you'll lose. It's very much a team game, probably better with more people
Lord Zombitten 2018-06-11T23:33:24-04:00
We don't play with the claw gloves, though. My youngest son tried, and started bending the cards.
Of the three, Exploding Kittens is the favorite, then You've Got Crabs, and Bears Vs. Babies is last
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-12T07:15:38-04:00
Morning kittens!
I didn't purchase the crab claws because I didn't see myself using them. Plus the rumors of the smell also discouraged me from buying them.
Also, why are we in the middle of June and we are getting fall weather?
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-12T09:47:39-04:00
Well I just finished a phone interview for an interesting accounting position. I'm kicking myself because one of the things I learned is that you should look up the company before your interview so that if they asked what do you know about them, you can give them an answer. I could kick myself for not doing this so now I'm not sure if I will make it to the next part of the interview process.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-12T10:08:45-04:00
@Geist, good luck with the next round! I wouldn't worry too much about what you could have done, just remember for next time. In my opinion, the interview process is more about personality than anything else. They want to see if the candidate would be a good fit.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-12T10:38:22-04:00
@BaKhan: I hope so. In the D.C. area, competition is fierce for these types of roles and one wrong move and you are out of the game. Plus, when I quoted a salary price, they agreed that they could pay that. (I under bid myself again but seeing as all of the work is in D.C. and that I'm studying for another career, this didn't bother me so much)
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2018-06-12T10:46:20-04:00
Geist, how in the heck is it that every time you complain about the weather, the same thing's happening in Berlin?!
When I was in Nebraska, of course you'd get the same weather I had maybe half a week later, but Berlin? How did you possibly tie weather systems 4,000 miles away?!
Seriously, it's been almost this entire time here, every time you talk about the weather, the same thing is happening here!
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2018-06-12T16:13:00-04:00
That's nice, got to meet up with my aunt, uncle, and a cousin today, funnily enough, all of whom we realized I'll see again in just like 3 weeks or something at a family reunion / that aunt's birthday / the 4th of July. Yes, all on the same day.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-13T08:53:04-04:00
Is it so hard to open a PDF to see what's in there before accusing someone of not doing someone else's job? (Had to run a report for an auditor, for my manager, because...well, apparently I'm the only one who knows how to run reports).
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-13T09:55:06-04:00
@GM: It's the same amount of difficulty as asking a manager to not just sign off on everything just because he sees a code. Apparently, double checking the numbers before submitting to the AP department is hard.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-13T10:19:54-04:00
@GM: what really bothers me is that they get paid more than me to act like they don't give a shit. Let me make a mistake and all hell breaks loose.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2018-06-13T10:35:19-04:00
Well, Geist, usually they yell at you because someone even higher up yelled at them. The only difference is that they have you to shout at afterwards, making them feel better.
So, the secret to staying happy in the workplace is to move at least one rung up in the chain of management so you always have someone lower than you to pass some of your stress off to!
Lord Zombitten 2018-06-13T10:48:28-04:00
That depends on the situation. Moving up one rung could lead to employees complaining you to fix things that you have no idea how to fix, but you're the boss, so they can pass it onto you because they don't know, either. Then, you get people who otherwise would have no idea who you are yelling at you for things they did. Really, there's always going to be something about a job that makes you say, "I don't want to go to work today," at least sometimes.
@LZ: Isn't that the truth. My manager always tells me to "figure it out" because she doesn't even know. And when she "researches" it, it takes her two weeks to do that when I look it up in less than 20min. Most of the time, her "research" is cat videos, and shopping on Amazon/looking up cruises to go on.
...There's a Churro food truck outside my work today...looks like I'm having a churro later today.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-13T11:32:54-04:00
@GM: Aren't churros sweet fried dough? If so, wouldn't you want something more substantial to eat?
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-13T11:36:09-04:00
re: Management, Its a mixed bag, there are definitely good managers out there, I keep hearing stories of them, but in my experience, they are mostly lacking. If you're lucky you can at least see that they're trying to be good for the company and their employees. If not, then you get what you guys are talking about, a bunch of do nothing blow hards, shirking responsibility and planning their next vacation... The saddest thing for me, is part of my post secondary education was focused on management, so I am well aware of what they should be doing, and well, aren't. booo!
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-13T11:37:07-04:00
@GM, totally jelly! I would so love a churro right now, over a year since I've been to Disney, and thats where I normally get my fix!
@Geist: I have my lunch that I brought from home(leftover pork roast with veggies and rice, raw veggies, and an apple), but the churros are something that I just kind of want additionally.
---
I also took a more in-depth look at the food at this years stampede...and its kind of making me want to go...well, for most of it.
https://www.calgarystampede.com/stampede/attractions/food
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-13T12:08:04-04:00
@GM: Sign me up for the charcoal ice cream in a cup, deep fried bacon wrapped reeses cup, spicy chicken arepa, Korean bbq tater tots and a unicorn bucket .
I F'ing swear I'm going to this festival next year.
Got me my chocolate filled churros(technically it's only one, that they cut in hald to be ~6inches each piece), and only cost me $7.
Lord Zombitten 2018-06-13T13:35:22-04:00
I talked to Jess, and she's down with going to Stampede next year
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-13T13:41:35-04:00
@LZ: Woohoo! Then I will mark that on my calendar and bug BaKhan and GM for the dates so that I can purchase the tickets.
Lord Zombitten 2018-06-13T13:44:56-04:00
Indeed! I'll need that info, as well
Lord Zombitten 2018-06-13T13:48:15-04:00
I got all my Green Horde extras yesterday. I haven't opened anything yet, but I noticed the halfling bard character, North. I told Jess that it would be easy to reskin him as a gnome (because gnomish bards are the best thing ever). Then I noticed that he's Dustin from Stranger Things!
Lord Zombitten 2018-06-13T13:49:00-04:00
Ooh! And the proof of my novel should be coming today!
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-13T14:25:26-04:00
Congrats LZ! Can't wait to read the novel.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-13T14:26:47-04:00
Oh what!?! Stampede party!!! That is so awesome! July 5 -14th 2019 are the official dates. https://www.calgarystampede.com/visitor-information for more info, they aren't showing much for 2019 yet as 2018 hasn't happened yet... ;) But as it gets closer it will be easier to play which days you guys want to come up for. They have a Coca-Cola stage thats free with admission, so some days are better than others. Also if anyone was interested in the different Rodeo events or agricultural exhibits, those are different daily as well. Depending on how long you guys can come up for, a road trip to Banff, Drumheller or anywhere else that you guys might want to go is definitely on the table as well. LZ, I hope you know that you and the missus are more than welcome to stay with us, but if you would prefer your own space, I can certainly help you find a good place to stay. Wow, didn't know I'd be so excited today, should probably have gotten some more sleep! ;)
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-13T14:28:39-04:00
@LZ, also, so excited for you! I'm really proud of you for buckling down and getting this novel done! With everything the world has thrown at you, you just keep on showing it who's boss! Respect!
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-13T14:29:54-04:00
@LZ, as per Green Horde, all the kids from stranger things are there, two were promos and three are in with the sgs. I can't wait to throw down on a Stranger Things mission! ;)
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-13T14:49:32-04:00
@BaKhan: I'll try to line my travel time with LZ so that we can all hang out. As soon as they start selling the tickets, I'll go buy mine.
@LZ: You should try Banff. I had a wonderful time when BaKhan and the missus took me to Grizzley's. Of all the stuff I had to eat, I remember the soup was my favorite.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-13T14:59:53-04:00
@Geist, so what you're really saying is that you want bragging rights for beating us all at EK right? ;) Not going to happen missy!!! ;p
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-13T15:27:31-04:00
@BaKhan: Nah bro. I gotta bring the championship back to the U.S. This might be the year. My hometown hockey team won the Stanley cup. Only fair I should win EK playoffs.
Lord Zombitten 2018-06-13T15:55:54-04:00
Yeah, I saw El, Mike, and Lucas on the back (bottom) of the box that all the SGs came in. I'm also looking forward to a Stranger Things game. I did find it odd that North only has two skill options at red, though
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-13T16:21:13-04:00
@Geist, ok, lets not start a trade war about this now... ohh too soon? ;)
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-13T16:22:54-04:00
@LZ, I think its because he's a halfling and they couldn't give him 1.5 red skills, so they rounded up, making him more of a 2/3rds ling? ;) Maybe his 3rd red skill is that silly tongue rolling/lion roar thing he does in the second season? ;)
Lord Zombitten 2018-06-13T16:35:22-04:00
Fun fact: that weird noise he makes in the 2nd season is how the Dutch roll their Rs
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2018-06-13T17:59:39-04:00
Another fun fact, some germans are so good at that glottal R roll that I know a couple people here who can perfectly recreate the Predator sound!
`
Seriously, it's really creepy, especially when they do that and you don't even know they're there!
Lord Zombitten 2018-06-13T18:04:57-04:00
I can kind of do that. I can also purr
Lord Zombitten 2018-06-13T20:34:43-04:00
Proof came! Alas! There are a couple of formatting issues that I need to fix. That will push the go-live back by a week or so
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2018-06-14T02:30:59-04:00
That's too bad, but now you know it's there and becoming real!
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-14T06:50:27-04:00
Morning kittens!
@LZ: You can purr? Holy crap, that is so cool! I thought only Eartha Kitt had the ability to do that. I have the ability to spit like a velociraptor when I yawn.
I can purr, roll my r's (as anyone of scottish decent should be able to, d'ya ken?), and flip my tongue completely over, but sadly no super creepy predator sound... I wish!
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-14T09:25:56-04:00
@BaKhan: The final dates that I'm thinking of coming up for Kitten Con 3 are October 25th to November 1st. That way I can still help with the party, see some of Calgary and help pass out the goodies on Halloween. What do you think?
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-14T09:36:03-04:00
@Geist, I think that sounds great! Send me a copy of your flight info when you have it, so I can be in know! Whoot! This is going to be awesome!
Morning kittens.
@Zem: I was actually wondering that myself...she may just be being herself and creeping here without posting...or too busy to look in on us.
Morning GM. Have you heard back from the place you interviewed with a couple of weeks ago?
@Geist: Only thing that I heard back was that they needed managerial references, but since I haven't kept in touch with any of my former managers, and don't have any way of contacting them(tried Facebook, can't message people I'm not connected to on LinkedIn without paying $35+/month - not happening, and typically they don't stick around restaurants that long), I haven't heard anything since I said that I tried getting into contact with some, and failed.
@GM: Since your former positions were in another field entirely, they should accept this. I'm sure they have some understanding of the high turn over in the food service industry.
@Geist: You would think, especially since she was a VP in a recruitment agency.
@GM: If you don't hear from her by next week, maybe you should shoot them an email to see how things are coming along?
Oh, for a second, I thought Geist was talking about Creeper getting back to you.
`
If I were still in Nebraska, I'd offer to roadtrip down to check up on her (and be the first to visit the bakery!), but that's a bit less than possible right now. Anyone know of any surefire way to contact her?
Creeper! Creeper! Creeper!
@Zem, sorry bro, I tried... ;)
I tagged her in a tweet
I'd love to hear from her again! If her plan was to make me want to just drive down there some saturday, well... it worked. Unfortunately, she mistimed things by a month or so and it's impossible just now.
How about this, if in the next month we still can't catch up with Creeper, I'll try as hard as I can to find the time and resources to drive down there with my brother to see if I can catch her at the homefront.
I just made a guitar pick out of my old concealed carry permit. How metal is that!
LZ, Hahahahahaha!!! That's too perfect!
Honestly, I don't think you could get more metal than that without literally making it from metal!
Hi to all of you people here! Have any of you tried the new crab game? I was very unsatisfied with Bears vs Babies and I don't want to buy another game that I will not play again :/
@Andrej: Personally, I haven't played BvB or Crabs just yet. Been super busy. If you don't mind me asking, what about BvB didn't you like?
Morning kittezzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Morning kittens.
Morning kittens.
@Geist, we'll have to fix that! I've got a fur covered game just waiting for you to come up and play it! ;)
Hey BaKhan! I'm looking forward to taking my EK championship back from GM. ;-)
You didn't say which day would be good for me to come up and help with the party. I could arrive on a Wednesday or would Thursday be better for you?
@Geist, I was planning on taking that whole week off, so as long as I know when you're coming, I can make it work. As far as helping goes, well, I'll have stuff you could help with which ever day you decide works best for you! I dont' want to sound wishy washy, but as our guest, I also want to make sure that you have time to do what you'd like and not just help me cooking all the time, unless thats what you want to do! I want you to always have a good time, so that you'll always want to come back! ;)
@Geist, oh, and hate to break it to you, but that championship title is mine this year, all mine! Muahahhahahhahaha!
@LZ: Happy anniversary! https://www.youtube.com/watch…
$20 and some change is still cheaper than a phone a full price. So it's kinda like getting it for free. Did you back up your information? I keep forgetting to do that with my phone. You'd think I'd learn my lesson after losing my wallet.
@LZ, Happy Anniversary! I still haven't gotten a chance to see Infinity War yet... probably have to wait till blue ray now... oh well. ;) Sorry to hear about your phone, that must be frustrating!
@LZ & CB: Saw this and thought of your both. Kinda pricey for a book I might see how much the price is once it's on Amazon.

@Geist, well with the current upswing he's been having in popularity (which is pretty astonishing for an outsider to see), we'll just keep the guest bedroom open for you... ;) Hey, would that make it the Geist room? ;)
@Zem, well, I guess not expecting different cultures to be different, would be strange as well... ;) Glad you're having fun!
We played BvB a couple of times but it was so repetitive and lame :/ You are doing the same thing over and over again without any higher goal... It was dull without any interest or excitement...
@BaKhan: Geist room! I love it! I should bring a temporary sign to put on the door to the bedroom since it's keeping with Halloween and all.
@Geist, we'll make one, when you come down!
My replacement phone came early!
Geist, I did have most of my stuff backed up
@LZ, huzzah!
@Micah: Every time we are playing EK we are having tons of fun and everbody are enjoying it. When we played BvB a coupe of time people easily get bored and started to play with their phones...
@Andrej: From my experience playing EK, you plenty of chances to try to back stab your friends by trying to get them to draw cards that cause them to get kicked out the game. That can be loads of fun with a group of friends. Sounds like there is a log less of that in BvB.
I've played crabs. It's one that forces you to pay attention to what everyone else is doing, or you'll lose. It's very much a team game, probably better with more people
We don't play with the claw gloves, though. My youngest son tried, and started bending the cards.
Of the three, Exploding Kittens is the favorite, then You've Got Crabs, and Bears Vs. Babies is last
Morning kittens!
I didn't purchase the crab claws because I didn't see myself using them. Plus the rumors of the smell also discouraged me from buying them.
Also, why are we in the middle of June and we are getting fall weather?
Morning kittens.
Morning kittens.
@Geist, good luck with the next round! I wouldn't worry too much about what you could have done, just remember for next time. In my opinion, the interview process is more about personality than anything else. They want to see if the candidate would be a good fit.
@BaKhan: I hope so. In the D.C. area, competition is fierce for these types of roles and one wrong move and you are out of the game. Plus, when I quoted a salary price, they agreed that they could pay that. (I under bid myself again but seeing as all of the work is in D.C. and that I'm studying for another career, this didn't bother me so much)
Geist, how in the heck is it that every time you complain about the weather, the same thing's happening in Berlin?!
When I was in Nebraska, of course you'd get the same weather I had maybe half a week later, but Berlin? How did you possibly tie weather systems 4,000 miles away?!
Seriously, it's been almost this entire time here, every time you talk about the weather, the same thing is happening here!
That's nice, got to meet up with my aunt, uncle, and a cousin today, funnily enough, all of whom we realized I'll see again in just like 3 weeks or something at a family reunion / that aunt's birthday / the 4th of July. Yes, all on the same day.

Is it so hard to open a PDF to see what's in there before accusing someone of not doing someone else's job? (Had to run a report for an auditor, for my manager, because...well, apparently I'm the only one who knows how to run reports).
@GM: It's the same amount of difficulty as asking a manager to not just sign off on everything just because he sees a code. Apparently, double checking the numbers before submitting to the AP department is hard.
@Geist: My manager is guilty of that too.
@GM: what really bothers me is that they get paid more than me to act like they don't give a shit. Let me make a mistake and all hell breaks loose.
@GM: Aren't churros sweet fried dough? If so, wouldn't you want something more substantial to eat?
re: Management, Its a mixed bag, there are definitely good managers out there, I keep hearing stories of them, but in my experience, they are mostly lacking. If you're lucky you can at least see that they're trying to be good for the company and their employees. If not, then you get what you guys are talking about, a bunch of do nothing blow hards, shirking responsibility and planning their next vacation... The saddest thing for me, is part of my post secondary education was focused on management, so I am well aware of what they should be doing, and well, aren't. booo!
@GM: Sign me up for the charcoal ice cream in a cup, deep fried bacon wrapped reeses cup, spicy chicken arepa, Korean bbq tater tots and a unicorn bucket .
I F'ing swear I'm going to this festival next year.
@Geist: The food next year might not be the same though. That's the thing with it, some of the foods stay year to year, most change every year.
@GM: I wouldn't expect it to be the same. That would be boring. I just like the variety of food that they have.
And I would get to see you guys again.
Got me my chocolate filled churros(technically it's only one, that they cut in hald to be ~6inches each piece), and only cost me $7.
I talked to Jess, and she's down with going to Stampede next year
@LZ: Woohoo! Then I will mark that on my calendar and bug BaKhan and GM for the dates so that I can purchase the tickets.
Indeed! I'll need that info, as well
I got all my Green Horde extras yesterday. I haven't opened anything yet, but I noticed the halfling bard character, North. I told Jess that it would be easy to reskin him as a gnome (because gnomish bards are the best thing ever). Then I noticed that he's Dustin from Stranger Things!
Ooh! And the proof of my novel should be coming today!
Congrats LZ! Can't wait to read the novel.
Wow, didn't know I'd be so excited today, should probably have gotten some more sleep! ;)
@LZ, also, so excited for you! I'm really proud of you for buckling down and getting this novel done! With everything the world has thrown at you, you just keep on showing it who's boss! Respect!
@LZ, as per Green Horde, all the kids from stranger things are there, two were promos and three are in with the sgs. I can't wait to throw down on a Stranger Things mission! ;)
@Geist, so what you're really saying is that you want bragging rights for beating us all at EK right? ;) Not going to happen missy!!! ;p
@BaKhan: Nah bro. I gotta bring the championship back to the U.S. This might be the year. My hometown hockey team won the Stanley cup. Only fair I should win EK playoffs.
Yeah, I saw El, Mike, and Lucas on the back (bottom) of the box that all the SGs came in. I'm also looking forward to a Stranger Things game. I did find it odd that North only has two skill options at red, though
@Geist, ok, lets not start a trade war about this now... ohh too soon? ;)
@LZ, I think its because he's a halfling and they couldn't give him 1.5 red skills, so they rounded up, making him more of a 2/3rds ling? ;) Maybe his 3rd red skill is that silly tongue rolling/lion roar thing he does in the second season? ;)
Fun fact: that weird noise he makes in the 2nd season is how the Dutch roll their Rs
Another fun fact, some germans are so good at that glottal R roll that I know a couple people here who can perfectly recreate the Predator sound!
`
Seriously, it's really creepy, especially when they do that and you don't even know they're there!
I can kind of do that. I can also purr
Proof came! Alas! There are a couple of formatting issues that I need to fix. That will push the go-live back by a week or so
That's too bad, but now you know it's there and becoming real!
Morning kittens!
@LZ: You can purr? Holy crap, that is so cool! I thought only Eartha Kitt had the ability to do that. I have the ability to spit like a velociraptor when I yawn.
Morning kittens.
Morning kittens.
I can purr, roll my r's (as anyone of scottish decent should be able to, d'ya ken?), and flip my tongue completely over, but sadly no super creepy predator sound... I wish!
@BaKhan: The final dates that I'm thinking of coming up for Kitten Con 3 are October 25th to November 1st. That way I can still help with the party, see some of Calgary and help pass out the goodies on Halloween. What do you think?
@Geist, I think that sounds great! Send me a copy of your flight info when you have it, so I can be in know! Whoot! This is going to be awesome!
