@CB Chainmail is absolute rubbish against small gauge piercing attacks. It's fine against slashing, but terrible at defending against claws and bludgeoning damage.

Yeah, courboulli is great stuff against cat claws. I've used leather armour when handling cats. IT does work. It works even better if you put metal splints over the leather or hardened plastic to add rigidity.

@Geist Yeah, she was tearing up about it last night. That cat was her best friend for many years. He was a good cat, too. I really liked him. She said part of the reason she loved me as much and as quickly as she did was because I reminded her of him, but in human form. Patches being the cat he was, I take that as a compliment.

I once put together a relatively cheap set of ring maille when I was younger and less experienced in making armor. Ugly as sin, but seemed really effective. I used 2-inch metal washers as the rings over a cotton shirt backing. The shirt weighed 25 lbs, but with the weight spread over my body, was not bad to move in. The whole thing was experimental.

@Geist Actually...my wife is the one that sheds. She's got long hair, and it gets everywhere! I have to clean the vacuum out once a week or so, and I'm cutting rat-sized hair balls out of the beater bar.

@potatten- I love unusual molds, etc. I can't wait for a store front when I can make tons of quirky things and sell them randomly. It's hard when I go strictly by order basis. I have so many unused molds, etc. my favorite customers are the ones that say "can you design something?"

@Geist Yeah, a beater bar is I think the name for the roller bar in the front of a vacuum cleaner with the bristles on it that actually picks up the material off the floor.
I have been sitting on the fence with the Star Trek Continues Kick Starter and now that it has 48 hours left I am trying to decide if I want to back it or not.
I am not a huge star trek fan but what they have done so far has been pretty good and has stayed true to the original start trek series.
