It's basic archival sciences, OoG. Sleeves used for cards are often cheap PVC or Polyethylenes, they outgas forever. That's why your cars inside of the windshield always looks foggy, the plastic dashboard outgasses continually.

A campaign I backed a couple years ago had a "Kickstarter Exclusive" design in a line of new shoes they wanted backers to help being to production, I bought the "Kickstarter Exclusive" design and then lo and behold when the line went to retail the "exclusive" was online just like all the others!
When I complained to the creators they admitted they had underestimated the interest in the "exclusive" design and that many people had expressed an interest in it AFTER the campaign who missed the KS so they put it online at a slightly increased price than the other shoes (like $5-$10) which really irked me safe to say

And, the NSFW deck can always be rebooted as all new different artwork for retail -- which we all still buy.

Bakelite items from the 1930's are really brittle, and they are one of the more stable plastics. Modern stuff is untested and unknown for the most part. Styrene in model kits goes bad after about fifty years. Plexiglas in thirty ... even UV stabilized stuff fails. It is impermanent, but cheap and relatively long lasting.

The problem with sleeved items "(cards, papers or documents, photos) is that the material to be sleeved is encased and surrounded by the plastic, which can then attack from both sides, envelop, and infuse the paper. No one in archival sciences puts valuables in sleeves. I have seen amateur photos in sleeves, where the photo emulsion has become one with the plastic covering.

Perhaps once the game is deleivered, and folks play it, will determine how much later expansion they do. What if everyone gets it, plays a few times, then moves on to something with more "meat" to it, and uses EK as a filler game?

For those who may have missed it, there is a playtest video of EK on the Smosh Youtube feed. 13 minutes long, and it does look fun. Elan has stated the rules and card mix in place in that playtest are not final though.

@Jason - Keep in mind that when it goes from 3 days to the final 48 hours (not sure what time exactly that will happen, anyone know the exact time funding stops? I'm sure it's on the main page but I'm on mobile so not everything shows up...) about 50k emails will go out reminding ANYONE and EVERYONE who "starred" the project for "remind me later" to come and back it now before it's too late, which usually gets a wild spike in backers and pledges
