A copyright symbol with the image should be sufficient. I don't see us going after anyone to sue them for copyright infringement in any case. That should be sufficient to keep the casuak asshat at bay, the dedicated asshat? You're never going to be able to disuade them.

The OTHER way to go is to just use the logo and not worry about it, We have no investment in it, it was a gift. Copywriting it trademarking it, those are legal maneuvers to protect something we had no real investment in. Seems a little greedy.
