A project I'm backing just succeeded and my card was declined. What do I do?
If your pledge was declined, just log in to Kickstarter and click the “Fix payment” button in the banner at the top of your screen. This will guide you through the process of changing your payment method. We'll also send you an email every 48 hours with a direct link to correct the issue. Don't delay, however: backers have 7 days to resolve payment issues before they are dropped from the project.
Here are things to look into:
1. Check that you entered a valid credit card number and the correct expiration date. Make sure the card hasn't expired.
2. Confirm that your billing address and phone number are correct.
3. Make sure you haven't exceeded the credit limit on your card.
If everything checks out, it's possible your bank put a hold on the charge. Please contact your bank to authorize the pledge. Once you've cleared up any issues with your bank or card, you'll still need to follow the "Fix Payment" link to retry your pledge.
If following these steps do not work I would contact KickStarter and ask them why the payments was not processed. If they cannot help you or tell you it was on the creators side use the contact me button above to get in contact with them.
(Seriously call the bank or the number on your card, they pitched a fit my first kickstarter too)

Just got off the phone with my bank. No authorizations, no declines, no holds on my card that would prevent it. I've submitted a trouble ticket to Kick Starter...
Usually it's the bank, or the people who make the card just from my experience. Not having enough funds can be the issue, and sometimes they just freak out because they don't know what KS even is..
It can be annoying Nick, but this kind of thing just happens. KickStarter should at least be able to tell you where the problem is happening (at which point it's actually declining).

I had a problem with a couple of charges once. The company who was in charge (no pun intended) of the processing of my card, not the bank, wasn't letting them go through, but the bank was able to get it straightened out.
Is the name on the card spelled right, and are you using the correct billing address? Meaning you haven't changed addresses at any point since you've owned the card have you? If so, make sure you use the old address and then talk to your bank about changing it.
@Trinkets: That's why I recommended he call both the bank and the number on the card.
