Vampires get super speed and strength, plus the ability to charm victims. Zombies don't have those. Also, zombies rarely eat brains as skulls are too hard to smash. Weaknesses would be reduced by the different halves working together to create a stronger whole. Sunlight would no longer be an absolute death sentence. Shotguns would be less of a problem due to tge rapid healing grantec by vampires. A stake to the heart wouldn't matter, as the brain is still intact and, again, rapid healing. From what I can tell, it regulates the amount of air coming into the fuel/air mix, so the fuel burns properly. Too much air (or too little) and the fuel won't properly combust, which then effects the exhaust output if too much fuel is unburned ...
