Nope. BBQ normally involves charcoal/brickets(briquettes) and can happen in an enclosed structure (webers/drums/smokers)
A Braai is defined as the burning of wood until coals result and then braaing one's meat with a grill (normally the type that can close to make turning the meat easier.
There are most certainly vast similarities, however, the methods we emply and the type of wood we use make us stake a claim ot our uniqueness. The closest rivals are the Aussies and even some of them have agreed that our methods are superior. I kid you not.

@C.F. To take it one step further, BBQ involves a rub or sauce. Grilling is what one does over charcoal in a drum/grill/etc.
Also, for the record, braiing is indeed the best. A nice boerewors with some pap and sauce is a beautiful thing!

It is amazing. I just had my left knee replaced so I could be ready to go for barbeque season. If we ever get a Kitten Con in the Chicago area my team will come out and cook a meal for as many of us as possible. Somewhere north of 50 people.

Things are getting better day by day. I'm trying to improve strength and flexibility, but the pain isn't awful so I'd say things are going well.
Our barbeque is a melange taken from all over the country. We have chosen what we feel are the best flavors for our dry rub, wood smoke, and sauce. It is truly one of a kind, and entirely our own.

We aren't masters of anything yet. But we are getting better scores every time we go out. We did place first in a local towns Ribfest and that was amazing, but competing in the Kansa City Barbeques Society competitions, which is what we do, is much more difficult, and the competition often includes the very best barbeque teams in the country. The top Brisket team in the country is local to us and goes to just about every competition we do. It can be daunting. : )

So off-subject- but I crack up every time I look out the window: there's a tall fence that all the community cats wall along. And through the razor wire (not put in place by me) there's a pole with a flood light type of box on it. Something about it- the cats all love scaling it and tryyyy by to fit the fuzzy butts on it. There's a big cat all squished up, perched and overlooking the whole yard

My backyard has become a treacherous snowland. Only one day was it above freezing - so that one day it melted a bit. It has been snow piled on top of snow. The poor cats can hardly get around anymore!

Feels like I should check in to let my third family(regular family, gaming family, Kittne Corp family) know that I have arrived safely at the hotel. Flight was un-eventful(though I was original seated next to a 9.5/10 girl), and ended up watching Edge of Tomorrow(not too bad of a movie, decent, but could have been better...lots of it felt rushed) and watched about 2/3 of Equalizer(from what I saw it was good...though they skipped some parts that could have been good).
But since I need to be up in roughly 5 hours, I shall head to bed, and talk to everyone tomorrow(forgot my power cord for my PS4...so no playing that while not at work...and I have everything else for it too T.T)
