And that's the high-end tech ones. So far, ALL the consumer models are crap. If you want your parts to last more than a few years, you're screwed.

I have a legitimate application for a 3D printer, but it would need to maintain a tolerance of +/- 1/128 inch. Longevity is not important because I would be using it to make gluing jigs for my woodworking projects. So far, everything is either too expensive or not able to maintain this type of precision.
Jeff "Great Cane of Doom"™ Saxton 2015-03-02T13:04:45-05:00
@Creeper, most of the 3D printers that print in PLA are edible -- it's a cornstarch based plastic -- meaning, it isn't plastic at all.
Mike Kabala 2015-03-02T13:05:47-05:00
@GCoD, it was called Star Wars Episode 3: A New Hope before any of the other movies came out.
Mike Kabala 2015-03-02T13:06:30-05:00
@GCoD, a lot of the PLA printers I've seen can also use ABS.

They also don't tell you that many of the 3D printers that fuse a powder together with a laser -- they come un-fused after a few years. The PLA plastics of those style of printers decay. The resin laser cured types are very brittle ... and won't stand up to handling.
Jeff "Great Cane of Doom"™ Saxton 2015-03-02T13:07:41-05:00

It seems to be working. The glitter has fled away, the smell is fading and the poo is beginning to slough off like birthday party ice cream.
@Creeper, Professor F just bombed me with rainbow poo.
@Creeper: F farted on CB I believe.... He got covered in unicorn poo, and instead of using the snake oil to get it off like we said he tried angel pee and made it worse....
You should know better than to leave us alone like that.
FWIW, never use angel pee to remove rainbow poo. It's just a really bad idea.
Smaug isn't shy. He's just greedy. You are lucky you only got charred a little.
Crisis averted ... I'm getting back to normal now.
They work against each other, huh? Noted.
