So @the creeper what going to happen at your party? Like what kinds of food and things.
What do you guys think i should do about amount of games played? I want to give a lot of people a chance to play- I'll have a sign up sheet of who showed up first, etc. Shoudl I put a limit on how many games people play? LIke three rounds? It's so tricky. I want them to come and drink and eat and not have to make people get up.
If you wanted to give a deck away at the end of the test play (note: this is only for if you want to I'm not making you do anything) but have a mosh pit of everybody vs everybody. Last person standing wins the deck
Epicderpguy 2015-04-03T14:59:31-04:00
Like a roman colosseum! You come into the room and announce "let the games begin!" Everyone rushes at each other. If it's taking to long just rent out a hungry tiger to pick a few off.
Epicderpguy 2015-04-03T15:01:08-04:00
At half time throw a bucked of pirañas into the pit.

Have no fear, the Mattress is here! Now's the time for terror, not fear.

Me and zem will come into the battle dressed as gladiators and start destroying everything.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-04-03T15:03:47-04:00
Wait, derp, what are you bringing my name into this for?!
Epicderpguy 2015-04-03T15:04:29-04:00
Zem hitting people with a mattress. Me flopping my 12 ton body on survivors.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-04-03T15:05:31-04:00
German food? It sucks to make, but spaetzle? That's the best German food ever made. I think it's the second most popular in Germany too. And one of my favorites of all time.
She was thinking you were going to be helpful Derp.... Everything sounds amazing Creeper! Get some pics of those Red Velvitten Cupcats for us all though. First the sign in sheet is a good idea. Just tell everyone the turn out is huge so first come get first play. The person who won can progress to the next game is a decent idea. There will be four decks so that means twelve people playing at a time. That's quite a bit, so two or three play throughs is also not unreasonable. You can even just shift back and forth throughout the night once everyone has had one game under their belts You could do names for a hat for each game played as well. Like a lottery. To keep people there longer you could also do a raffle from the hat kind of thing by offering up a deck to the winner of said raffle to keep them there.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-04-03T15:06:18-04:00
Oh, he didn't mention when it comes down to just me and derp, his only effective maneuver is anal quasars. It's exactly as it sounds.
well, i'm not cooking. it's a german bierhaus... they will be cooking!
And I like this. Can i make it like the hunger games? Mainly because I want to wear a butterfly dress and say "May the odds be ever in your favor!"
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-04-03T15:08:01-04:00
I really wish I could go to a playtest, but the nearest is a 10 hour drive. So I'll just be happy for you. It sounds awesome, creeper, and good luck. And take pictures.
I shall have plenty of pictures, don't you worry my little quilted-top beauty rest.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-04-03T15:09:06-04:00
Also, I've found my new watch. I don't think it's an april fools joke because it was uploaded March 31 and is still available. but it's amazing, and only as expensive as any cheap-ass watch I've ever gotten.

Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-04-03T15:10:17-04:00
Or for my real idea. Have a bunch of play offs, four groups of four play a game at different times, then the winners or those games would move on no the next match of winners. the winner of that match gets to play the grand master and her best friend at a ultimate round of EXPLODING KITTENS!
it's a good idea though - the playoff. I think i'll have to just play it by ear when people arrive If the crowd gets big, i'll just have to do the "ok guys... time to let some other people play!"
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-04-03T15:17:00-04:00
No you can't. Steel melts at 2750. and according to the wikipedia for butane torches, :
Consumer air butane torches are often claimed to develop flame temperatures up to approximately 1,700 K (1,430 °C; 2,600 °F)
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-04-03T15:18:20-04:00
That's what I'd do, creeper. I think you'd have to set up a tournament in advance, which is quite a bit of trouble especially for open events. Unless you have a tournament with 2 decks and open games with the other two...
Epicderpguy 2015-04-03T15:18:44-04:00
Meh well it could still melt something that is hard. Like water.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-04-03T15:19:27-04:00
It could definitely melt hard water. I could melt that with my breath.
Epicderpguy 2015-04-03T15:20:09-04:00
That's what I was thinking you could have 2-3 games going at the same time to make it go faster.
I think it's good in theory, but would be really difficult to pull off with so many people there, people drinking, eating, etc. I still plan on having all four games going on at once, definitely. But to keep track, and to hope that people stay around - it would be tough. Also for people that come later and want to play, but can't because of a tournament.
I think everyone should get to at least play two rounds - one to get adjusted, learn the rules, etc. It depends on how fast the rounds go. People may only play once or twice and leave, but others may want to stay and keep playing.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-04-03T15:24:55-04:00
That's what I was thinking. If you want a tournament, you can't do an open game type event. You'd have to set up the event and have people rsvp and set up the games and bracket and stuff. Just easier to say one or two games and then get back in line if you want more.
Epicderpguy 2015-04-03T15:26:31-04:00
That's why you keep one deck aside for the over lord creeper and a small group of lowly insignificant peasants.
I think winners of the game get to keep playing is a good rule. It will let some people keep playing and let new people in. It's also a game of luck so there is bound to be different winners everytime. It will help cycle people and provide slight incentive to want to keep playing. One or two games is probably a good limit before the rotation though.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-04-03T15:29:18-04:00
Then have a big scary bouncer when they leave to remind people, as drunk as they may be, to make sure to review it.

Nah I'm good I have kerbal space program calling my name.
Powers of Tesla 2015-04-03T15:53:42-04:00
Have you read all of the material sent us in the emails Creeper? Everyone needs to play at least two games. I think you could take the overall winner if a three game set. Put their name down, then when everyone has had their chance to play, run a tourney of the winners.
Powers of Tesla 2015-04-03T15:54:55-04:00
Also Creeper. How are you planning to get people to remember to go to the survey on line to do the questionnaire?
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-04-03T15:56:24-04:00
Oh, ok, derp. Good enough.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-04-03T15:57:22-04:00
I'm looking at memes on memebase for fun because I'm bored. That sounds better. Now I'm going to find a good game.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-04-03T15:59:05-04:00
AoE 1, not now. Battlefield 1942? Perhaps. Spore? Left it at home where I'm going today. Mount&Blade? I'm in a lull, so maybe not now until the next world war in my game. Flash games? Let's see what's on my favorite websites. I don't play those anymore.
Epicderpguy 2015-04-03T16:00:30-04:00
Have you ever seen the game subnautica.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-04-03T16:00:56-04:00
@PoT - i haven't had a chance yet to sit down and read and organize everything. It's been a bit of a hectic week. But today starts my prep day. Also the person that was supposed to help me with this has been MIA - so I'm a little frustrated.
I plan on printing the survey link on sticker sheets, cutting it and sticking it to the grenades or maybe my business card - wherever it would fit best. Will also be posting it on the facebook event page as well.
and yeah, would never expect people to play only one game. Was thinking 3, and i'll try to keep a running tab on the winners and go from there. I don't want to have too stringent rules set in place at the start, because i really ond' know what to expect crowd wise.
Or i might have people sign in with their name and e-mail, so i can email them all the link, and then I'll use that list to star who's won, etc. going to do a lot of planning on sunday when i have some friends here and we can all talk it over.
Yep. Why i like talking about the parties on here, getting some good ideas! I might not be able to raffle off a deck (depends on the people helping me, etc...and if they all stay in good condition). But I thought about raffling off a gift basket of desserts for the shelter here. Or i might just try to collect money for the shelter. I'm going to contact them about canned food, etc - to see if they prefer that or just a monetary donation.
Juha-Pekka Ahonen 2015-04-03T16:52:11-04:00
Sorry to jump in conversation, my idea was to bring my laptop (as mine is in game store) and let people fill there the feedback.
that's a good idea for smaller groups and places without beverages! :)
Juha-Pekka Ahonen 2015-04-03T17:18:21-04:00
other way to collect feedback, that will make you have more work, but more answers is to give people chance to do it also on paper. As in print the questions and make people fill it in, then you return those answers for them
Powers of Tesla 2015-04-03T17:25:02-04:00
You could do that Juha, and for non-English speaking folk you might have to. But it's going to make it tough on someone. Either the creative team, because they're set now to collate and organize by the computer survey, or you, because you'll need to translate and fill in the computer survey yourself.
You could go to a copy shop and just make copies too. That should be relatively inexpensive if that's what you need. You could ask them for an email and email them the survey but ideally you want to get them fresh and emailing it gives them a chance to skip out and forget about it.
We did in fact do that Beau. We unlocked the final tier [mystery item] which we will all get along with the [mystery thing] from before~! This will go with the box that will fit both the SFW deck and the NSFW deck which is now also a full deck as well. Up to nine players can play now as well if you have both decks since the SFW deck can now play with five players!!!
Do these comments have anything to do with Exploding Kittens?

Justin, yes. These comments are very much related. Elan et al wanted to create a community. We are the community, so comments about us are related to Exploding Kittens
Well GCoD... at least this time it looks like he has a physical prototype to rip people off with.
Maybe eventually they'll figure out that making products for real is more rewarding then making scams?
He still hasn't learned how to keep himself in one place though.
*shuffles in* grumpy creeper today. I pushed three shopping carts with my own at Costco. IF YOU WANT A FREE SAMPLE- PULL YOUR CART TO THE SIDE
I also carried groceries home in the rain. Stupid city with no cars.
Sounds like you need a friend to help you. I would but I don't think I am any where near you to help.
But at least your party is now almost... Sorta ready.
I haven't started on the party. Focusing on Easter. 0_o but yes- would be nice to not have to do this all alone!
Well at least you can see the end... I hope.
I am looking forward to it all, truly. I love hosting and cannot WAIT for the EK party. Just having a grump day. So many things to do!
So quiet!
It did get quiet. It's finally nice out too.....
I can make it not quiet
How's your day going so far Creeper¿
it's getting better. :) I momentarly posted a pic last night of my shirt and mug.. but then i had to edit the photo a bit to for it to fit in frame of the forum, and it felt like too much of my face all up on the screen!
watched an episode of Bob's burgers where Linda was obsessing over the drama of the racoons in the back ally... i kinda felt like that's how i sound when i talk about the kitties in the backyard. :)
I can make it no so quiet
Whoops how did that happen?
Glad the day goes better at least :) I can see that, we always worried about our outdoor kitties but they quite often proved just how self-sufficient they were.
So @the creeper what going to happen at your party? Like what kinds of food and things.
i'm making red velvitten cupcats, :) have pens, got some mini grenade water guns. Food is german since it's at a bierhaus.
Oh did I tell you what me and @zem think you should do at your party?

Also, if it's a hunger games theme, you need to wear one of my favorite shirts I have:

Or for my real idea. Have a bunch of play offs, four groups of four play a game at different times, then the winners or those games would move on no the next match of winners. the winner of that match gets to play the grand master and her best friend at a ultimate round of EXPLODING KITTENS!
i love that shirt! :) But i want to go full Effie.
The only problem with that, derp, is that it's a set number of people, which is apparently a problem.
Did you check out the watch? *Watch* the video. It's hilarious. And fire.
Well that was just an example test group. It would change according to the number of players.
Also @zem that watch is a scam. A flam that is 2000 degrees. That's crazy you could melt steel with that!
THe tricky part with playoffs is that everyone would need to stick around.
it's a good idea though - the playoff. I think i'll have to just play it by ear when people arrive If the crowd gets big, i'll just have to do the "ok guys... time to let some other people play!"
