@Geist, good for you! I'm proud of you! Also, never plan on failing! You know you can do whatever it is you set your mind to, you've made it this far, right? ;) We believe in you!
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-10-13T09:31:17-04:00
@BaKhan: How is your new job coming along?
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2017-10-13T09:39:02-04:00
@Geist: While I was off from work and ignoring it for most of the week, I was great. Get into work today because my manager is off to study for an exam....less than shitty. Nothing organized, items that don't need to be printed AT ALL since it wastes paper(things like me asking an admin to follow up with a guy about something and they respond "will do" do NOT need to be printed). I am so glad we have a new girl starting on the 23rd that is going to be part-time payroll, part-time reception. This means I can actually teach her how to organize things so that they are done properly and not half assed like my manager does because she can't remember something the second she turns around.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-10-13T11:27:37-04:00
@GM: Happy to help you file paperwork when I get up there. All it will cost you is some of those lime flavored potato chips you mentioned a long while ago. And some beer. And a case of Canada's finest maple syrup. ;-)
@Geist: It's more stuff being printed wrong, stuff not being printed that should be(the emails the new hire/changes come in so we have a record in case of audit - something my manager told me to do that she DOESN'T do), and overall organizing things so that it flows super easy and quick without flipping back and forth 500x just to enter one new hire.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-10-13T13:58:03-04:00
@Geist, its coming along. I'm doing more data entry/revision stuff than I would like, and I'm not designing much of anything anymore. I mean its alright, and the pay is better, but I find myself being frustrated with menial tasks a bit to frequently. I've also been pretty down lately so I may just be projecting that on work... meh. Its all good. ;)
Sometimes I hate Telus...they sent me a "special" offer in an email that I got today...expires Aug 5, 2017.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-10-13T14:33:22-04:00
@GM, lol, yeah, I normally hate Telus... ;) Hope you enjoyed your time off!
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2017-10-13T14:56:09-04:00
Friday the 13th before Halloween? Oooh, spooky! But uneventful for me; this wednesday was really my friday the 13th, all sorts of crazy stuff happened! Long story short, I almost went blind and then I almost died. Pretty fun stuff!
`
Moreover, YAY! Fall break! I love how much vacation school systems allow for! Mon. and tues. off next week! I may not be going to Vegas like a ton of people I know, but I know how to relax with the best of them!
@BaKhan: Yup, time off was well spent(though I didn't get around to everything I planned on doing), up until about 8am today when I walked in my office.
Well, Telus sent a correction to the email I received...it's now valid until Nov 5, 2017 rather than already expired as of Aug 5, 2017.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2017-10-13T17:17:08-04:00
Aw, I kinda like the idea of getting a coupon from a company expiring 2 months ago. That's something I'd tell people all the time!
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-10-14T04:06:13-04:00
I'm sorry you're feeling that way BaKhan. If you feel like this case of the blues isn't going away, please get some help. I consider you a good friend and don't want to lose you.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-10-16T07:27:57-04:00
Morning kittens. My supervisor is on vacation but that doesn't mean it's slack time for me. I still have tons of work to do plus she is allowing me perform some of the duties she took away from me a few months ago. (Never mind that I'm out of practice but ah well) The only good thing about her being gone is that I'm going to leave on time. No extra hours if I can help it. The bad news is that the big boss is visiting from Australia. Have to be on my Ps and Qs while she is here.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-10-16T08:51:02-04:00
Morning kittens!
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-10-16T08:53:11-04:00
@Geist, thanks for you concern, I will definitely seek help if I feel that I need to! Hope your week goes better for you with your supervisor gone. I'm sure the big boss will do the typical big boss smile and a handshake thing, and then look for the first person doing something they can make a public example out of... ;) Being on your toes is definitely a good idea!
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-10-16T09:49:07-04:00
@BaKhan: Maybe after 6 months, you could to go your partners and let them know of your concern. Maybe give you something else to do?
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-10-16T10:47:25-04:00
Morning GM. Only 9 more days before I visit. Sure you won't stop by for some Halloween fun?
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-10-16T10:59:49-04:00
@Geist, thats probably exactly what I'll do. I know that there is always some p.i.t.a. when it comes to setting up new systems in a new company. There is a lot of "grunt" work to be done. I don't consider myself to be above that, but I would like something that is more challenging mentally rather than just challenging motivationally. I'm not giving up by any means, just sometimes it feels like I'm digging a hole in the sand and the walls keep falling in on me so I'm not making much progress. I also know that isn't the case either, but you know the feeling certainly. ;)
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-10-16T11:00:50-04:00
@GM, it would be awesome if you could stop by, even if you can't make it to the party. We would just be putting the "con" in kitten con if there weren't even three of us... ;)
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-10-16T11:02:51-04:00
@Geist, RE: the party, I think this is going to be one of the crazier ones we've ever had! You remember Joel from last year (he was the mustard bottle)? And how crazy he and his friends can be? Well this year, Misty's best friend from Med school and her husband (Mark) are coming as well. If you thought it was crazy last year, just wait and see how Joel and Mark play off of each other! You will be in pain from laughing so hard!!! ;) I can't wait!
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-10-16T11:20:34-04:00
@BaKhan: I'm sooooo looking forward to this. It would be so nice to just get away. I swear, the weekends aren't enough.
Oh I haven't forgotten Joel. Not by a long shot, lol. It seemed like the party really got jumping when him and the small group of people with him arrived. Can't wait to see him again this year.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-10-16T11:20:53-04:00
@Geist/BaKhan: I should be able to come visit, just not sure about the party currently since I'm not sure what's happening on that weekend currently.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-10-17T05:05:38-04:00
Morning kittens! I think I may have finally figured out what costume I'm going to be wearing at Kitten Con 2. Leave it to Amazon to have it listed. Still have to snag a few more goodies to take with me and I should be set. Hopefully I'll be done by the weekend. The days leading up to the 26th fill be busy at work so I don't think I'll be able to get much done on the weekdays.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-10-17T08:33:14-04:00
Morning kittens!
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-10-17T08:36:39-04:00
@Geist, yes, amongst other things, there will be beer. ;) Especially seeing as how we're playing a small set (7-10 songs), the more you drink, the better we will sound! ;)
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-10-17T08:38:52-04:00
@GM, well, to me, you should be telling anyone who asks that you are going to the party on the 28th, but its your call... ;) No pressure, I know you prefer to hang with your online friends and I'm not judging. It would be nice if you could drop by and say hey to Geist, and maybe we could get a couple of rounds of EK in though.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-10-17T08:41:08-04:00
In other KS news, that campaign that I backed for the funding of the American giant fighting robot, is coming to fruition tonight! They are streaming it on twitch and then after will be posting it to Youtube later this evening. Thats right, America vs Japan, giant fighting robots, this is a childhood dream come true, I honestly can't even wrap my head around the fact that this is a real thing! So excited for tonight!
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-10-17T10:12:44-04:00
@GM: Don't you want to try to take away my EK championship? I'm still the undefeated winner from last year. ;-)
Lord Zombitten 2017-10-17T13:07:53-04:00
Good mooorrrninnnng Kitten Corps!!
Lord Zombitten 2017-10-17T13:09:26-04:00
I just gotta say how jell I am that you three have the opportunity to get together again this year.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-10-17T13:47:34-04:00
@LZ, on one hand I'm kinda glad you feel that way, as it means that you might come up in the future! On the other hand, given everything you've had to deal with since last year, and now this year as well, I fully understand. To quote Floyd, wish you were here! ;)
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-10-17T14:09:07-04:00
Howdy LZ! How is the Halloween preparations going? Did you finish your costume yet?
I wish you were coming to KC2 as well. I would loooove to taste a dish you've prepared. Maybe when you come up, you and BaKhan can do a kitchen throw down.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-10-17T14:15:55-04:00
@Geist, there would be no losers there... ;) I would love to try something like that, however I would worry about home field advantage? I would say less than 10% of my friends like spicy, well at least as much as I do, let alone LZ's level... ;)
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-10-17T14:29:13-04:00
@BaKhan: You have a point. Still, I've heard of LZ's cooking skills for so long, I would love to sample something he has prepared.
Speaking of which, I still want to visit Creeper's bakery. I hope she is doing brisk business. Gotta find her twitter or bakery FB page.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-10-17T14:33:58-04:00
@Geist, you and me both! Except for maybe that wiener pasta loaf thing... ;) I bet Zem would know how to get a hold of Creeper, or at least be able to direct to a way to do so. ;)
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-10-17T14:50:50-04:00
wiener pasta loaf thing
I had happily forgotten that. Thanks for reminding me. :-P
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2017-10-17T15:02:01-04:00
The America vs Japan robot thing is finally happening? Wow, that's been so long I almost completely forgot about it!
`
To Creeper? I dunno, I usually just talk to her on here or other KC chat things. Though that does remind me to check into her GoFundMe. There hasn't been an update for over a month now.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-10-17T15:08:59-04:00
@Zem, yessir! You should check out youtube for it tomorrow or later tonight. It should be under Megabots. Giant fighting robots bro, you can't go wrong! ;)
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-10-17T15:40:49-04:00
@BaKhan: I'll have to check that out myself. It reminds me that the sequel to Pacific Rim will be out next year. I can't wait!
Lord Zombitten 2017-10-17T16:11:48-04:00
I had also happily forgotten about that, and I ate it!
Yeah, never gonna do that again!
Lord Zombitten 2017-10-17T16:15:45-04:00
On another note, I really don't understand why some people have such a hard time with concepts like sufficient sample collection and sample stability. There were a couple of MAs who used to be phlebotomists who argued with the phlebotomy lead about whether a sample was acceptable. It had sat unspun for about 4 hours when it got here. The ordered test says it has to be spun within two hours.
They, strangely, didn't argue with me though...
Lord Zombitten 2017-10-17T16:17:29-04:00
Then there was the patient who called to complain to me about the phleb who drew her blood without gloves on his hands. My mouth was a trapezoid of horror revulsion when she described the procedure from beginning to end. The guy didn't do a single thing according to procedure!
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-10-17T17:00:57-04:00
@LZ: I'm surprised that tech didn't get a severe write up. That is very dangerous. It's like a surgeon performing an operation without any gloves on.
Lord Zombitten 2017-10-17T17:04:34-04:00
I don't know if he did or not. If he were my employee, he definitely would have gotten a reprimand.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2017-10-18T00:44:44-04:00
Yeah, I'm going to have to check out that video when I have time, BaKhan!
Wow, that's creepy, LZ. I would hope the patient would say something if the doctor were doing a procedure like that without gloves!
`
Also, sorry I haven't been on much, it's been fall break, so I've been doing my own thing. I would say I'd check here more often over the coming days, but then again, I'll be super busy. Though I will be at my computer more, so I probably will check in more often.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-10-18T07:14:35-04:00
Morning kittens! I saw Bladerunner 2049 last night. I was curious because the critics were swooning about this movie. The local critic said the movie was nearly perfect. I was more impressed by the special effects than the plot. Frankly, I could have waited to see this movie when it came out on Netflix.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-10-18T08:34:38-04:00
Morning kittens!
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-10-18T08:38:16-04:00
@Zem, after having seen it, I would give it a 6/10, you'll understand when you see it. That said, it still gets bumped up to a 10/10 because: giant fighting robots! While it certainly wasn't everything I wanted out of a robot fight, the potential is there, and once there are more countries with GFR I think it will get a bit harder. The biggest challenge is how you get to the point where its safe enough for the pilots to actually go full tilt against each other without causing death... ;) Oh well, if Nascar and other things of that nature can do it, so can GFR! ;)
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-10-18T08:40:12-04:00
@Geist, thats weird cause all I've heard are good reviews as well. Did you like the first one? And if so, did this new one have that same feel? I think that the first one was such a classic, it would be very hard to follow up. Also as much as I love his characters Harrison Ford is a weirdo (not that thats a bad thing per say).
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-10-18T09:16:54-04:00
@BaKhan: It most defiantly had the same feel. I've seen the first one many times. I guess I was expecting the movie to "wow" me but for some reason it didn't. I think that had more to do with the parts of the plot that I don't understand.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2017-10-18T09:46:46-04:00
I've seen the first one a couple times and heard all amazing reviews, all because the original is one of my roommate's favorite movies of all time, and he said the only bad thing about the new one is it didn't live up to his far outlandish expectations one gets from there being a very worked-up sequel coming out to one of your favorite movies ever, though it did exceed most all of his realistic expectations.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-10-18T10:45:05-04:00
I cannot flipping wait to be on vacation. *sigh*
Lord Zombitten 2017-10-18T10:46:58-04:00
I actually thought 2049 was better than the original. I understood 2049 much more with my first viewing, and the visuals are amazing. The score gave the movie the same feel as the original, and the pacing was about the same. Meaning, you feel the length of the movie. The thing that fascinates me about those movies is that they're so slow, but still entertaining.
Lord Zombitten 2017-10-18T10:47:40-04:00
Geist, I hear that! My wife and I are counting down the days (4!)
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-10-18T11:39:20-04:00
@LZ: Only 4? I got another 8 before I can be free to have some maple goodness fun. Why is time going by so sloooooooow?
Lord Zombitten 2017-10-18T11:58:06-04:00
That's what happens when you're excited about something
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2017-10-18T12:01:14-04:00
As for me, I just had my bit of vacation. None more until Thanksgiving, unfortunately, but even regardless of that, I'm still so jealous of you, Geist, for getting to go up there to see them and go to KittenCon mk.II and party and all that!
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-10-19T06:46:25-04:00
Morning kittens! T minus 7 days and counting.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-10-19T08:40:03-04:00
Morning kittens!
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-10-19T08:42:08-04:00
@Geist, squeee! Its getting close now! I've still got a pile of baking to do! We also have finalized our short set for the band yesterday as well, it runs about 40 mins or so, depending on interaction. ;)
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-10-19T09:35:56-04:00
@BaKhan: I'll be more than happy to help out with the baking/cooking! Plus stuffing the goodies bags for the kids. (I can't wait to show you what I bought for them this year)
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-10-19T09:38:19-04:00
On another note: How in the heck does a person who has JUST been hire have any PTO accrued? I had to work extra long hours in order to make it to the first KC so I wouldn't be short on my check. Yet this new girl is out of the office today? SMH I've taken all of 2 sick days and only a few vacation days (KC 1) since I've been hired here and it's been a little over a year.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-10-19T11:07:53-04:00
@Geist, I may have to take you up on that, we'll see how much progress I can make this next week. Its going to be crazy busy! ;) I'm definitely excited about the fried chicken!!! ;)
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2017-10-19T13:05:33-04:00
Dang it, you guys are making me super excited for this even though I'm not going! It's gonna be so awesome, and you're going to have so much fun!
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-10-20T08:02:38-04:00
Morning kittens! Happy Friday!
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-10-20T08:36:22-04:00
Morning kittens! Its FRIDAY!!! ;)
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2017-10-20T09:42:42-04:00
Thank God it's Friday. I was up until like 4:30 working on something last night, which is something I almost never do, but I can sleep it away over the weekend now.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-10-20T10:49:47-04:00
@Zem, lol, thats how I used to roll all the time! I found that I did some of my best work at that time of day, not many distractions, and I could just get done what I needed to. Also, I think coffee tastes best late at night/very early morning. ;) In fact, I used to say it wasn't tomorrow till I went to sleep, that way it gave me longer days... ;)
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-10-20T14:24:04-04:00
@GM, I just got my notice for Folklore: the Affliction! I'm supposed to get it next friday! So I won't have a chance to play or even unbox till after Halloween but it will sure be nice to have after all this time! ;)
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2017-10-20T16:19:40-04:00
Yeah, half a cup of coffee, a bottle of mead, and 400 words on a 250 word assignment for German later, I got about 3 1/2 hours of sleep. It's so weird how up to a point, getting less sleep makes you feel more awake the next day; I've only had a short nap between classes today, but otherwise haven't even been tired!
`
Also, I totally agree, coffee tastes best later in the day. I don't understand people who drink it exclusively with breakfast, to me, it's a great afternoon/evening thing to sip. In fact, I might like it best at nighttime, but I only ever drink it that late if I know it's going to be as late a night as last night.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2017-10-23T04:22:26-04:00
And another night like that one because of a similar project in another class as well as 3 other assignments, not counting the one I forgot to do.
5 hours of sleep to start the week? Bring it.
Or not.
In fact, please don't bring it, I'd rather take a nap.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-10-23T07:44:39-04:00
Morning kittens! The big boss is here this week so I don't know how often I'll be able to post but I just wanna say that I'm so excited to be taking off on some much needed vacay.
@BaKhan: I was talking with someone at a party and they said that in order for me to access Netflix like I do in the states, you'll have to have me routed through a VPN in order to trick the account into thinking that I'm accessing it back home instead of Canada. Otherwise, we'll end up getting the same programs you do.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-10-23T08:36:42-04:00
Morning kittens!
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-10-23T09:05:32-04:00
@Geist, well we'll have to check it out and see. I hadn't heard about requiring the VPN, but we'll take a look. I can't wait to see you! Three more days!
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-10-23T09:37:18-04:00
@BaKhan: Are there any food colorings or other things you need before I hop on the plane? I've got the next two days solid to start packing up stuff you need to take to Calgary.
@Geist: Mostly relaxing, until yesterday morning when my stomach decided to join the circus.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-10-23T11:19:04-04:00
Joined the circus. I like that. I'm using that phrase the next time my stomach starts growling after a meal.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-10-23T11:47:02-04:00
Forgot to mention: I went in last week for an evaluation for LASIK surgery. Not saying that I'm going to get it but I wanted to know more about how it's done. I'm definanetly leaning more toward getting my eye sight corrected in 2018 before my prescription gets any worse.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2017-10-23T14:35:17-04:00
My stomach tends to go on strike, and I'm forced to go through strenuous negotiations with it.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-10-23T14:44:13-04:00
@Geist, I should have everything that I need, thank you!
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-10-24T06:21:37-04:00
Morning kittens!
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-10-24T08:36:57-04:00
Morning kittens!
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-10-24T09:35:00-04:00
What a rainy day. I purchased a 12 pack of toilet tissue yesterday and left the whole bundle at the bus stop. Was going to see if I could get it early next morning but the rain late last night made that impossible. My head seems to be distracted lately. ;-)
Almost done getting stuff. Will be leaving work today on time so that I can gather some other stuff that I need for the trip and to start packing.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-10-24T12:12:44-04:00
@Geist, oh man, that sucks, at least it was just tp and not something more valuable. I hate when I make silly mistakes like that. On a grocery trip one time I forgot to take the pop and bottled water off the bottom shelf of the cart, and drove away (3mins to my house). As soon as I got home I realized what I had done and raced back, too late though... c'est la vie... ;)
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2017-10-24T12:23:08-04:00
I just wish some people's impulses weren't to take stuff like that when they see it, because more often than not, the person is probably already coming back to get whatever they forgot. But if you leave something somewhere, usually it's not even worth bothering to go back looking for it, unfortunately.
I really hate the spreadsheets we use for the Canadian payroll. Each file is 29,592kb(or close to it, but definitely 29,000kb+). They take forever to open. -.-
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-10-24T15:54:45-04:00
@Zem, I think its a weird form of entitlement that I've best seen described as licencing. Basically, its easy to talk yourself into taking something that someone else has forgotten/dropped/lost etc., as its happened to you. So with that mindset, its ok to do it to someone else, because its happend to you. Its weird but it happens all the time. Its a way of justifying a bad behavior as normal, and ergo, not bad. ;)
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-10-24T16:18:10-04:00
@GM, I really hate spread sheets. That is all... ;) I'm doing way too much work/data entry on spread sheets right now. Worst thing is prior to starting this job, I hadn't touched excel in over 20 years. A few things have changed, and I've forgotten more than I remember, so learning all over again sucks. But, it is what it is I guess. ;)
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-10-25T06:19:33-04:00
Morning kittens!
Last day of work and then it's vacay for me!!!! If you can believe it, I haven't actually started packing yet due to work and running around acquiring last minute stuff. I will tell you this: I'm not staying past 8 hours. Screw that. I just found out that one of the people in our group didn't tell anyone he needed help processing so now there are a s&%t ton of payments that need to be in the system by Friday.
Ah well. Not my monkey, not my circus.

@BaKhan &GM: I actually need to take some classes so that I become an expert in Excel. I will need to have this certification if I'm to keep my job. Luckily, I will most likely be going through the Lynda website for training. It won't cost me much and I can take my time.

Morning kittens!
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-10-25T08:31:45-04:00
@Geist, me too, me too! This is my last day till the day after you leave again. I can't wait to see you again!
Not my monkey, not my circus
That is awesome! I've never heard that before, and I'm totally stealing it! ;)
I just hope that once I have all of these spread sheets set up, they will no longer be my baby to look after! As far as excel goes, its really just time in, and continued usage. I used to know much more than I do now, but I can still get by, and I do have some friends that don't mind the odd lame question... ;) I took it in school (well chalanged it really, took the final day one) some 23 years ago...
@Geist, good for you! I'm proud of you! Also, never plan on failing! You know you can do whatever it is you set your mind to, you've made it this far, right? ;) We believe in you!
@BaKhan: How is your new job coming along?
Ah finally. Finally, friday! And then fall break!
Morning kittens. Happy Friday the 13th!
@GM: I was wondering why I felt so calm today. Friday the 13th near Halloween? Yes please!
Maybe I should watch a horror movie today.
How have you been btw?
@Geist: While I was off from work and ignoring it for most of the week, I was great. Get into work today because my manager is off to study for an exam....less than shitty. Nothing organized, items that don't need to be printed AT ALL since it wastes paper(things like me asking an admin to follow up with a guy about something and they respond "will do" do NOT need to be printed). I am so glad we have a new girl starting on the 23rd that is going to be part-time payroll, part-time reception. This means I can actually teach her how to organize things so that they are done properly and not half assed like my manager does because she can't remember something the second she turns around.
@GM, lol, yeah, I normally hate Telus... ;) Hope you enjoyed your time off!
Aw, I kinda like the idea of getting a coupon from a company expiring 2 months ago. That's something I'd tell people all the time!
I'm sorry you're feeling that way BaKhan. If you feel like this case of the blues isn't going away, please get some help. I consider you a good friend and don't want to lose you.
I saw this recipe and thought of you.

Morning kittens!
@BaKhan: Maybe after 6 months, you could to go your partners and let them know of your concern. Maybe give you something else to do?
Morning kittens.
Morning GM. Only 9 more days before I visit. Sure you won't stop by for some Halloween fun?
@Geist, thats probably exactly what I'll do. I know that there is always some p.i.t.a. when it comes to setting up new systems in a new company. There is a lot of "grunt" work to be done. I don't consider myself to be above that, but I would like something that is more challenging mentally rather than just challenging motivationally. I'm not giving up by any means, just sometimes it feels like I'm digging a hole in the sand and the walls keep falling in on me so I'm not making much progress. I also know that isn't the case either, but you know the feeling certainly. ;)
@GM, it would be awesome if you could stop by, even if you can't make it to the party. We would just be putting the "con" in kitten con if there weren't even three of us... ;)
Wait....there will be beer there, right?
@Geist/BaKhan: I should be able to come visit, just not sure about the party currently since I'm not sure what's happening on that weekend currently.
Morning kittens!
@Geist, yes, amongst other things, there will be beer. ;) Especially seeing as how we're playing a small set (7-10 songs), the more you drink, the better we will sound! ;)
@GM: Don't you want to try to take away my EK championship? I'm still the undefeated winner from last year. ;-)
Good mooorrrninnnng Kitten Corps!!
I just gotta say how jell I am that you three have the opportunity to get together again this year.
@LZ, on one hand I'm kinda glad you feel that way, as it means that you might come up in the future! On the other hand, given everything you've had to deal with since last year, and now this year as well, I fully understand. To quote Floyd, wish you were here! ;)
Howdy LZ! How is the Halloween preparations going? Did you finish your costume yet?
I wish you were coming to KC2 as well. I would loooove to taste a dish you've prepared. Maybe when you come up, you and BaKhan can do a kitchen throw down.
@Geist, there would be no losers there... ;) I would love to try something like that, however I would worry about home field advantage? I would say less than 10% of my friends like spicy, well at least as much as I do, let alone LZ's level... ;)
@BaKhan: You have a point. Still, I've heard of LZ's cooking skills for so long, I would love to sample something he has prepared.
Speaking of which, I still want to visit Creeper's bakery. I hope she is doing brisk business. Gotta find her twitter or bakery FB page.
@Geist, you and me both! Except for maybe that wiener pasta loaf thing... ;) I bet Zem would know how to get a hold of Creeper, or at least be able to direct to a way to do so. ;)
wiener pasta loaf thing
I had happily forgotten that. Thanks for reminding me. :-P
@Zem, yessir! You should check out youtube for it tomorrow or later tonight. It should be under Megabots. Giant fighting robots bro, you can't go wrong! ;)
@BaKhan: I'll have to check that out myself. It reminds me that the sequel to Pacific Rim will be out next year. I can't wait!
I had also happily forgotten about that, and I ate it!
Yeah, never gonna do that again!
Then there was the patient who called to complain to me about the phleb who drew her blood without gloves on his hands. My mouth was a trapezoid of horror revulsion when she described the procedure from beginning to end. The guy didn't do a single thing according to procedure!
@LZ: I'm surprised that tech didn't get a severe write up. That is very dangerous. It's like a surgeon performing an operation without any gloves on.
I don't know if he did or not. If he were my employee, he definitely would have gotten a reprimand.
Morning kittens! I saw Bladerunner 2049 last night. I was curious because the critics were swooning about this movie. The local critic said the movie was nearly perfect. I was more impressed by the special effects than the plot. Frankly, I could have waited to see this movie when it came out on Netflix.
Morning kittens!
The biggest challenge is how you get to the point where its safe enough for the pilots to actually go full tilt against each other without causing death... ;) Oh well, if Nascar and other things of that nature can do it, so can GFR! ;)
@BaKhan: It most defiantly had the same feel. I've seen the first one many times. I guess I was expecting the movie to "wow" me but for some reason it didn't. I think that had more to do with the parts of the plot that I don't understand.
I cannot flipping wait to be on vacation. *sigh*
Geist, I hear that! My wife and I are counting down the days (4!)
@LZ: Only 4? I got another 8 before I can be free to have some maple goodness fun. Why is time going by so sloooooooow?
That's what happens when you're excited about something
As for me, I just had my bit of vacation. None more until Thanksgiving, unfortunately, but even regardless of that, I'm still so jealous of you, Geist, for getting to go up there to see them and go to KittenCon mk.II and party and all that!
Morning kittens! T minus 7 days and counting.
Morning kittens!
@Geist, squeee! Its getting close now! I've still got a pile of baking to do! We also have finalized our short set for the band yesterday as well, it runs about 40 mins or so, depending on interaction. ;)
@BaKhan: I'll be more than happy to help out with the baking/cooking! Plus stuffing the goodies bags for the kids. (I can't wait to show you what I bought for them this year)
On another note: How in the heck does a person who has JUST been hire have any PTO accrued? I had to work extra long hours in order to make it to the first KC so I wouldn't be short on my check. Yet this new girl is out of the office today? SMH I've taken all of 2 sick days and only a few vacation days (KC 1) since I've been hired here and it's been a little over a year.
@Geist, I may have to take you up on that, we'll see how much progress I can make this next week. Its going to be crazy busy! ;) I'm definitely excited about the fried chicken!!! ;)
Dang it, you guys are making me super excited for this even though I'm not going! It's gonna be so awesome, and you're going to have so much fun!
Morning kittens! Happy Friday!
Morning kittens! Its FRIDAY!!! ;)
Thank God it's Friday. I was up until like 4:30 working on something last night, which is something I almost never do, but I can sleep it away over the weekend now.
@Zem, lol, thats how I used to roll all the time! I found that I did some of my best work at that time of day, not many distractions, and I could just get done what I needed to. Also, I think coffee tastes best late at night/very early morning. ;) In fact, I used to say it wasn't tomorrow till I went to sleep, that way it gave me longer days... ;)
@GM, I just got my notice for Folklore: the Affliction! I'm supposed to get it next friday! So I won't have a chance to play or even unbox till after Halloween but it will sure be nice to have after all this time! ;)
And another night like that one because of a similar project in another class as well as 3 other assignments, not counting the one I forgot to do.
5 hours of sleep to start the week? Bring it.
Or not.
In fact, please don't bring it, I'd rather take a nap.
Morning kittens!
@Geist, well we'll have to check it out and see. I hadn't heard about requiring the VPN, but we'll take a look. I can't wait to see you! Three more days!
@BaKhan: Are there any food colorings or other things you need before I hop on the plane? I've got the next two days solid to start packing up stuff you need to take to Calgary.
Morning kittens.
Morning GM! How was your weekend?
@Geist: Mostly relaxing, until yesterday morning when my stomach decided to join the circus.
Joined the circus. I like that. I'm using that phrase the next time my stomach starts growling after a meal.
Forgot to mention: I went in last week for an evaluation for LASIK surgery. Not saying that I'm going to get it but I wanted to know more about how it's done. I'm definanetly leaning more toward getting my eye sight corrected in 2018 before my prescription gets any worse.
My stomach tends to go on strike, and I'm forced to go through strenuous negotiations with it.
@Geist, I should have everything that I need, thank you!
Morning kittens!
Morning kittens!
@Geist, oh man, that sucks, at least it was just tp and not something more valuable. I hate when I make silly mistakes like that. On a grocery trip one time I forgot to take the pop and bottled water off the bottom shelf of the cart, and drove away (3mins to my house). As soon as I got home I realized what I had done and raced back, too late though... c'est la vie... ;)
@Zem, I think its a weird form of entitlement that I've best seen described as licencing. Basically, its easy to talk yourself into taking something that someone else has forgotten/dropped/lost etc., as its happened to you. So with that mindset, its ok to do it to someone else, because its happend to you. Its weird but it happens all the time. Its a way of justifying a bad behavior as normal, and ergo, not bad. ;)
But, it is what it is I guess. ;)
