To all of the we'll meaning backers that are suggesting that they should give money to charity, they can not. It is against ks policy to divert project funds in this way. Lawsuits, etc. why don't you all step up locally and donate some of your money, or better yet, time to a local shelter where you live?

@Rod M. Excellent ideas. My avatar is my cat Stella. She was abandoned at the vets office. She was only a few months old and had been hit by a car. She sustained multiple fractures in her hips and hind legs, was severely malnourished and her ears and tail were frostbit. She adopted us the second we walked in the clinic and took her home the next day. Lots of food and one hip surgery later, she is quite the butterball. If anyone is thinking of getting a cat, I suggest thinking of adopting a rescue/special needs cat. Anyone can take care of a cat bit special cats need special people.

Hello,
will there be a print and play version ?
I live on the other side of the world and the shipping fees are too expensive (and using kerosen to send a deck of card is rubish... I would prefer to use it to burn kitten, mwahahahah)
I could even pledge 5 or 10$ for an high resolution version of the cards.
Thanks to pre-paid credit cards, even i could throw wads of cash at the screen for this game! Woohoo! :D

Will the backs of the KF and NSFW decks be different colours? (or the insides coded/coloured differently would work too) - so if I want to combine them for one big party game and then separate again for a smaller or family friendly game I can without having to remember each card, which goes in which deck?
Can we have free worldwide shipping as stretch goal please?
Berivan Özkoçak Evren 2015-01-28T07:44:05-05:00
I think there should be an "crazy cat lady" card which is not affected by the exploding kitten and may obsolete all the cards played. but ofcourse it should be used after some special conditions are met.
by the way, can use speed up the production process a little. I cannot wait to play this game!
Berivan Özkoçak Evren 2015-01-28T07:45:57-05:00
and please consider free worlwide shipping or at least try to offer a lower pirce for shipping :)
JusticeBolt 2015-01-28T08:08:24-05:00
Free shipping worldwide for everyone will never happens. Sorry guys. It cost too much, it's obvious.
Jonathan Schaudt 2015-01-28T08:11:23-05:00
The crazy cat lady idea below is good. Let her collect exploding kittens, and then foster them out to the other players when you have one more than the number of players in the game.
Dane Panduro-Hansen 2015-01-28T08:14:09-05:00
Yah lower shipping fees would be nice. Shipping costs are stopping me from ordering another pair.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2015-01-28T08:29:08-05:00
They've already said that they're looking into shipping options, hopefully they can find something less expensive, but at the end of the day it is what it is. Fact is shipping is expensive. Many ks build a portion of the shipping into the product itself. As the game itself has no room to add in this portion, shipping seems more expensive. It is what it is.
César Teixeira 2015-01-28T08:30:05-05:00

You can up your pledge to $70 to get an extra of each deck. Or add $20 to get an additional standard deck. No word yet on adding to get just an additional NSFW deck, but certainly a possibility.
Scott Viverito 2015-01-28T09:29:33-05:00
Ok gang,
Benchmarks - Unfortunately these are kind-of steep .... we are in rarefied heights already.
Currently Kittens is at $4,234,159
Place Project Total Amount left to beat
6th Reading Rainbow $5,408,916 $1,174,758
5th Veronica Mars $5,702,153 $1,467,995
4th Pono $6,225,354 $1,991,196
3rd OUYA $8,596,474 $4,362,315 1st place games
Stopping list at 3rd since it is over 2x current.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2015-01-28T09:31:20-05:00
@Scott, thats too funny I was just about to ask if anyone had those stats handy!
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2015-01-28T09:32:23-05:00
With the way this campaign is going, I think that we can beat the Pono, not sure about OUYA though.
Eric 'Tchotchke' Aschner 2015-01-28T09:35:05-05:00
Well, next milestone, need 234 more NSFW backers to make 100,000.
Should easily be the highest individual pledge level ever.
Bob "Powers of Tesla" Lindley 2015-01-28T09:37:49-05:00
@Scott. I was just looking at the stats for Pono on Kicktraq. It appears we are currently tracking pretty closely with the way the Pono project went. I believe we can beat it, but it's going to require an effort.
Adrian 2015-01-28T09:43:31-05:00
The Mostestest? More like The Lamestest. Where are the stretch goals? How about a commemorative tin (with room for expansion). Or an Exploding Kitten figurine/player token? C'mon guys! Step it up! I know you had no idea that the game would explode like this (see what I did there?), but seriously, this game is sorely lacking as a Kickstarter campaign. Give us a reason to be proud to support you. I don't care that I'm 1 out of 100,000+. I want to know that I'm supporting a good game with appreciative creators who are willing to give back to their fans. You have millions of dollars. It's time to put some of that money to work for you.
George H. Webster III 2015-01-28T09:44:58-05:00
I love that only around 6.5% of backers want the family friendly version only. Because the internet.
Eric 'Tchotchke' Aschner 2015-01-28T09:45:43-05:00
Oh, good... was afraid we wouldn't get any SG complainers today.
Eric 'Trinkets' Baumgarten 2015-01-28T09:46:36-05:00
...and we're back.
How about adding one huge crazy level. Four pledges of $250,000 and they make a card of you and/or your cat that gets added to the game! I know that it is an INSANE amount for what it is worth, but there are people with crazy amounts of money that might do it. I am not one of them.
George H. Webster III 2015-01-28T09:46:54-05:00
@Adrian, Remember, there is still a per unit cost to produce each copy of the game. So as number of backers goes up, so do costs. It's not like ever dime over the goal is profit. Mathematics!
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2015-01-28T09:47:01-05:00
@Eric A, +1, I was like maybe they realized that they are just being greedy greedy gopher guts and decided to chill, but then Adrian brought reality back.

Just... wow!
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2015-01-28T09:50:03-05:00
I think that they should add a pledge level that costs $100, ships in November and has a t-shirt, key chain, stickers, and a soother, so that all the people that want trinkety garbage can have their fill.
Bob "Powers of Tesla" Lindley 2015-01-28T09:50:27-05:00
I'm with @Adrian! I want my solid 14K Gold laser etched Exploding Kitten card hand engraved by the entire family of every one of the creators. Elan. Get on it!
David K. 2015-01-28T09:50:43-05:00
+1 @EricA - seems like every kickstarter I hop on now gets infested by complainers, I had to stop reading comments on a couple of them it was so bad...
Adrian 2015-01-28T09:50:43-05:00
@George But...it's 100 cards. How much could it really cost to print 100 cards? I bet I could get a single deck of 100 custom cards printed by a local print shop for a few dollars. That per unit cost would only decrease with increased volume. Economics!
@EricA: +1. However, I too want a stretch goal; I just don't care what it is. It could be a cheap sticker or a penny whistle. It's just nice to see something to work towards, a goal that we can reach and achieve that is specific, rather than generalized.
Eric 'Tchotchke' Aschner 2015-01-28T09:51:27-05:00
Projected costs of a $35 deck (Warning, only my guesstimate):
KS cut - 5% = $1.75
Credit card processing fees - 3-5% = $1.40
Pre-fulfilment survey and processing - 3-5% = $1.40
Actual card production on decent cards - $2/pack = $4
Instructions / box / packaging = $2
'Thing-of-incredible-delight' = $2 (may vary depending on where you buy your delights)
Freight to Partners = $.50
Postal packing and shipping first class = $4
Sales tax - 7% = $2.45 (avg amongst the states by pop. I'm guessing)
Fulfilment partner cut = $2 (best guess from Amazon's site)
==========
Revenue = $35 - $1.75 - $1.40 - $1.40 = $30.45
Costs = $4 + $2 + $2 + $.50 + $4 + $2.45 + $2 = $16.95
Profit per unit = $13.50 (39% of top line revenue)
The single decks are $15 cheaper, but only save about $5.25 in shipping and production costs. They're making less money per unit on the $20 / deck version compared to the $35 for two version.
Most of the excess revenue will still be pumped into production to produce games to sell after the KS. If they do keep any money, they have to pay income tax on it.
So, my question is... what SGs do you want?
Free t-shirt? $5 for printing and $4 for shipping = $9 x 105,000 backers = $945,000 (more than half their profit / seed)
Free pack of cards? $2 printing + $.25 freight + $2 bumping from FC to Priority mail = $446,250
Even a single free foil card adds up. Printing, plus you now have to manually pack the card since it's off a different sheet, then do it 100,000 times.
Also keep in mind, both decks are 56 cards. They are using a full sheet for each deck. Any additional cards are going to require different packing techniques.
Adrian 2015-01-28T09:55:56-05:00
You guys are obviously new to Kickstarter (many anyway, based on the number of backed projects). The whole reason to back a Kickstarter project, at least in the board game arena, is to get the cool swag, the exclusive content, and the extra incentives. This is not a complaint. It's a suggestion. Just because you don't agree or have no idea how it typically works does not make it a complaint. I just think they need to step it up. Check out Conan for example. They have a quarter of the dollars pledged and have given almost 50 updates with dozens of stretch goals. Or Heroes Wanted. The stretch goals aren't there, but we get many updates about game content, rules, character bios. They are lacking in the communication department, regardless of whether they decide to add any more content or not.
Eric 'Tchotchke' Aschner 2015-01-28T09:56:01-05:00
Not to be rude against the people who want more SG's (and maybe they'll add some, I don't know) but if it's anything beyond something that already fits the packaging it's going to be a problem.
For example, if they add something for $1 that doesn't fit in the current box or weighs more than an ounce, it'll bump up from FC to priority shipping (they've already alluded to this). So we're really talking about adding on $3 per order. That's $300K+. It's also quite likely (as has happened to a few thousand previous KS campaigns) that this small token gesture of appreciation will delay the final product considerably.
I'd much much much rather them get me the game in 6 months with no add-ons than get a neat little token I'll never use in December.
Eric 'Tchotchke' Aschner 2015-01-28T09:57:57-05:00
I'm not new to KS. I'm re-new to KS. I quit the first time because all of the SGs, seriously delayed projects, and substandard quality on many games made it too frustrating to deal with. I decided then, if a game is actually worth playing and actually gets created, I'd just buy it.
I only came back because I freakin' love the Oatmeal. I also was very genuinely impressed with their proclamation to KISS.
JusticeBolt 2015-01-28T10:00:20-05:00
I bet the next stretch goal will be at 5 Millions. By the way they already said there is a next stretch goal. I'm happy with my pledge right now but let's be honest... They are making profit right now that's for sure.
Chris "The Historian" Loth 2015-01-28T10:00:44-05:00
SGs are nice but I'd rather they reinvest some of their profits into making future expansions (outside of this KS) and provide a robust life for this game. I backed the project for the sake of the game, not for the potential of SGs. It's their project, they can choose when (if ever) to add additional SGs. My backing them doesn't give me any rights or privileges beyond what they originally promised. The SGs are a way to say thank you. When people constantly demand more SGs it just comes off as being a bit ungracious (in my opinion, yours may differ).
Eric 'Trinkets' Baumgarten 2015-01-28T10:02:49-05:00
Why have so many asked for a cat token/trinket. I would rather have the best cardstock, nice box that holds the cards while sleeved, and gotten to me in a timely manner. If they can add extra cards, I'll take it.
As for a stretch goal of a trinket just to say they gave us something, -1
Eric 'Tchotchke' Aschner 2015-01-28T10:02:54-05:00
Also, I'm 99% sure that most games put on KS fall into two categories. Those who already know what they're doing and already know what the final game will look like. They purposefully hold back 1/3rd of the game so they can continually pump out tons of little SGs. Well, if you hit two dozen of them (like many games have) those goals aren't much of a stretch, are they? The second category is people who don't yet know what they're doing, get caught up in the hype, promise a bunch of shit in order to get additional backers, don't realize the actual economics of the situation and then never deliver or take an exceptionally long time to deliver.
This project is likely no exception. They likely from the beginning knew they would most likely create two full decks unless reception was tepid.
SGs ORIGINALLY were for utilizing economy of scale. Like, I get a price break when I make 1,000 and I only need another $6K to get there. Let's get there and I'll use the savings to make the game a little nicer. Now they're just used to have backers consistently advertise for them.
Lol, You guys raised $4,000,000 for a card game. You should give Digital Mavericks a call and see if they would like to hire you to help them with social networking.

Let's hope the kittens aren't female or Anita Sarkeesian will be all over this
Since cat cards can be collected and played as a group, and that's presumably bad for the other players....
Card idea: Bob Barker. Reduce a cat card combo by one.
Dear You Three: I am PSYCHED. I doubled my pledge because I want to share the exploding kitten goodness with one or two lucky friends.
Hmmm....thinking about moving pledge money from would you rather to here...double the exploding kittens decks sounds like a plan....yes! Moar cards!
All the things!
Yus!
I'm super excited for my copy of exploding kittens. I also found this (for all you cat / science fans out there) https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/594145763/schrodingers-cats
Now, can Exploding Kittens beat Reading Rainbow's $$$ amount? That would put it at #6!
I bet it can and will pass it! Maybe not until the last couple of days, though
this 4 million dollars can probably get exploding kittens into all game stores in america
#7 Sleeves?
Hello,
will there be a print and play version ?
I live on the other side of the world and the shipping fees are too expensive (and using kerosen to send a deck of card is rubish... I would prefer to use it to burn kitten, mwahahahah)
I could even pledge 5 or 10$ for an high resolution version of the cards.
Thanks in advance.
Happy 7th place!
I can't even. I really can't.
Thanks to pre-paid credit cards, even i could throw wads of cash at the screen for this game! Woohoo! :D
111 111 backers & $4 444 444 for SGs
I saw this and how it was skyrocketing with funds. Had to jump on board!
It's probably already in here somewhere but what about some sort of meta backer-related card.. like 100,000 something or others?
Take my money! Take it I say! *throwing it at the screen*
Will the backs of the KF and NSFW decks be different colours? (or the insides coded/coloured differently would work too) - so if I want to combine them for one big party game and then separate again for a smaller or family friendly game I can without having to remember each card, which goes in which deck?
@Creator
SG...
4.3K... Upgrade quality cards...
4.4K... 5$ Shipping discount
4.5K... EU friendly
4.6K... Spanish traslation ;-)
There should be a card added based on the final pledge amount and backers dubbed the kickstarter. lol
A nod to beating reading rainbows would be cool. "RAINBOWS BE READN' DIS" /cat with flamethrower and or bazookas
With this news story today, can we have a "RamboCat" card...?! http://www.unilad.co.uk/articles/rambo-cat-digs-its-way-out-of-its-own-grave/
Can we have free worldwide shipping as stretch goal please?
I think there should be an "crazy cat lady" card which is not affected by the exploding kitten and may obsolete all the cards played. but ofcourse it should be used after some special conditions are met.
by the way, can use speed up the production process a little. I cannot wait to play this game!
and please consider free worlwide shipping or at least try to offer a lower pirce for shipping :)
Free shipping worldwide for everyone will never happens. Sorry guys. It cost too much, it's obvious.
The crazy cat lady idea below is good. Let her collect exploding kittens, and then foster them out to the other players when you have one more than the number of players in the game.
Yah lower shipping fees would be nice. Shipping costs are stopping me from ordering another pair.
Definitely we needz a Rambocat card!
I will like anything having to do with farts.
We're officially bigger than Cambridge Massachusetts! Murrieta, California, you're next!
Ive never ever been a fan of fart jokes. Seem childish. Everything else is cool.
What? Fart jokes are a toot.
I would love to see this project in the top row of most funded projects ever, and with 22 days to go I believe it's possible. I don't know if it's possible to beat the cooler, but surely we can beat Pono.
Just backed. Looks awesome - can't wait to play. Any chance of adding one more collector's deck? Pretty please?
@Bob, that would be awesome!
in reality, your graphics ARE fancy. just saying
Question. At what point is there a press conference with the creators? With this level of success (and still more than 20 days to go) shouldn't there be more media coverage of this phenomenon? I seem to recall mainstream news stories about Reading Rainbow.
It's already been on CNN, I think on Day 2. And there was a CNET interview and probably a bunch I haven't noticed.
How about adding a 'hardcore mode' card - The Undefusable!
@Stephen
You can up your pledge to $70 to get an extra of each deck. Or add $20 to get an additional standard deck. No word yet on adding to get just an additional NSFW deck, but certainly a possibility.
Ok gang,
Benchmarks - Unfortunately these are kind-of steep .... we are in rarefied heights already.
Currently Kittens is at $4,234,159
Place Project Total Amount left to beat
6th Reading Rainbow $5,408,916 $1,174,758
5th Veronica Mars $5,702,153 $1,467,995
4th Pono $6,225,354 $1,991,196
3rd OUYA $8,596,474 $4,362,315 1st place games
Stopping list at 3rd since it is over 2x current.
@Scott, thats too funny I was just about to ask if anyone had those stats handy!
With the way this campaign is going, I think that we can beat the Pono, not sure about OUYA though.
Well, next milestone, need 234 more NSFW backers to make 100,000.
Should easily be the highest individual pledge level ever.
@Scott. I was just looking at the stats for Pono on Kicktraq. It appears we are currently tracking pretty closely with the way the Pono project went. I believe we can beat it, but it's going to require an effort.
I love that only around 6.5% of backers want the family friendly version only. Because the internet.
Oh, good... was afraid we wouldn't get any SG complainers today.
...and we're back.
How about adding one huge crazy level. Four pledges of $250,000 and they make a card of you and/or your cat that gets added to the game! I know that it is an INSANE amount for what it is worth, but there are people with crazy amounts of money that might do it. I am not one of them.
@Adrian, Remember, there is still a per unit cost to produce each copy of the game. So as number of backers goes up, so do costs. It's not like ever dime over the goal is profit. Mathematics!
@Eric A, +1, I was like maybe they realized that they are just being greedy greedy gopher guts and decided to chill, but then Adrian brought reality back.
+1 @EricA
Just... wow!
I think that they should add a pledge level that costs $100, ships in November and has a t-shirt, key chain, stickers, and a soother, so that all the people that want trinkety garbage can have their fill.
I'm with @Adrian! I want my solid 14K Gold laser etched Exploding Kitten card hand engraved by the entire family of every one of the creators. Elan. Get on it!
+1 @EricA - seems like every kickstarter I hop on now gets infested by complainers, I had to stop reading comments on a couple of them it was so bad...
==========
Revenue = $35 - $1.75 - $1.40 - $1.40 = $30.45
Costs = $4 + $2 + $2 + $.50 + $4 + $2.45 + $2 = $16.95
I bet the next stretch goal will be at 5 Millions. By the way they already said there is a next stretch goal. I'm happy with my pledge right now but let's be honest... They are making profit right now that's for sure.
Why have so many asked for a cat token/trinket. I would rather have the best cardstock, nice box that holds the cards while sleeved, and gotten to me in a timely manner. If they can add extra cards, I'll take it.
As for a stretch goal of a trinket just to say they gave us something, -1
