8,643 backers at $20 + 117,411 backers at $35 + 200 backers at $100 + 5 backers at $500 = $4,304,745 from 126,259 backers.
Total backers = 126,896
126,896 - 126,259 = 637 backers who chose to pledge below $20.
$5,000,157 - $4,304,745 = $695,255 in contributions by the 637 people who will not be receiving a reward.
That is approximately $1091.45 per person who does not get a reward. But wait! Aren't those people the ones that specifically pledged less than $20?
Well...
Suppose a person contributes $30. They still only get the $20 reward and those remaining $10 go into the $695,255 pot. I imagine a lot of people payed in-between price levels. That’s the only way to explain the $695,255 of extra funds. Because, even if each of those 637 people paid $19.99, it would only amount to 12,733.63, which is still 682,521.37 short of the extra fund pot.
In short: lots of people love The Oatmeal. They are willing to put in way more money than the goods they actually paid for. Yay! Congrats, Exploding Kittens team!

Anyone who is trying to sort out the math needs figure in that some people are pledging more than their base pledge amount in order to get multiple decks AND anyone outside of the US has to add shipping charges.
