Someone below opined on being able to print a thousand decks a day. With modern printing presses, they can likely do that an hour. Slitting the sheets, packing the boxes ... that takes time too. (I'm still wielding the "Great Cane of Doom™" by the way).

@Trinkets, I would think USPCC would be begging for these decks, but I don't think the Bicycle brand would help in this case. I'd steer totally clear of offshore production right now to keep the dock workers from holding the shipment for ransom. I've gotten burned more than once waiting for a reward from a Creator who went with offshore production.

@Chameleon I disagree. I have pledged for many playing card projects and sometimes the placement of the indexes is discussed at length. The point is that when you fan the cards out in your hand, all you see is one corner of the card. A left-handed player often prefers to fan them in the opposite direction.

I've never known anyone who prefers to fan cards out in a way where they couldn't see the pips/whatever in the corners. Perhaps that's because most decks only have them the "right-handed" way and most people learn to fan them the way that shows them.
Well, since I'm right-handed, I've never had to worry about it. You'd be surprised how picky people can be about collecting playing cards. Just sayin '. No hard feelings ...

I pledged for a minimalist deck that had no illustrations at all, just rank and suit in the corners. A few backers wanted to add all sorts of marks to indicate one-eyed Jacks, suicide kings, etc. they can be a tough crowd.
