I don't see what all the fuss is about plastic cards anyway, they faden and they get nicked up just as much as any other type of card.
Eric 'Tchotchke' Aschner 2015-02-12T12:18:15-05:00
*good* plastic cards are actually very very nice to play with. They shuffle great, last forever, clean easily, deal easily, feel nice. I'm on my third set of KEMs (~$25 a pair) and wouldn't use anything else. The only reason I've gone through them so much is because of how much I play. I'd probably have gone through 50 sets of Bicycle cards otherwise.

Getting back to cat stories, I once had a cat named Koinoneia, so named because it was a lonely time in my life. This was the only cat I have ever owned that caused me to miss work. Koinoneia liked to roam the neighborhood at night and one morning as I let him in, he appeared at the door covered in black sludge. Apparently, he wandered too close to a pan of used motor oil and fell in.
Seriously, who leaves a pan of used motor oil just lying around like that?
Well, after calling in to work and spending over an hour with the cat in the sink and using up all of my Dawn dishwaching liquid, I got off enough of the gunk that I was able to take the cat to the vet to see what they could do. They used a special skunk odor remover shampoo and Koinoneia was finally recognizable again.
After that, I did not let the cat out at night any more, but he still had a longing to be outside, escaping when he could. The first time, I was able to find him about a mike away from my house and bring him home again. The secont time, though, he never returned. I hope the rest of his life was happy.

Yes, those problems are very well known. Need to dilute and deactivate it first. Or dispose of outside of the sewer system (I have a tank that I use until bad and then take to a shop). Though I do such a small quantity, I could probably still drain it.
George 2015-02-12T12:43:08-05:00
You can etch with a solution of hydrochloric acid and peroxide. Can usually reuse it quite a few times and regen it a bit. Of course I'm only working on small project boards with toner transfer using magazine paper, laser printer, and a laminator to transfer the traces.
