Geist, we don't need a large group, but when the pool is so small, I'm not sure how many people would actually travel long distances for a meetup.

@Catness, I get the busy personal life thing. Between school and our social life (there are few evenings my wife and I are actually at home) we're quite busy as well. If there was enough interest from others then I would be more than willing to entertain the idea of a meet up. I guess the regional meet-ups would be difficult as the core group is pretty small... at least at this point, but we do add more people each day so perhaps, as it grows over time regional meet-ups become more of a viable option.

I don't use Twitter but if they're anything like all the other social media sites, they have an option for users to invite friends by going through their email contact list (or possibly Facebook contacts). Jeff's son probably did this at one point so when Jeff signed up, Twitter recognized the email address and picked its suggestions accordingly.
Also, if you're currently logged into Facebook, Twitter can see that, look up your friends, see which of them are already signed up and then suggest them to you. Either of these are very plausible and likely explanations.
im not sure if any of the browsers are now keeping cookies in the cloud now. But if you are like me & sync stuff up so you don't have to remember as much it's easy for one social media to know you from other stuff.
