Hmmmm, got a phone call telling me my 17-year-old daughter will be having brain surgery ("minor", hah!) this week. After dealing with that for a few minutes, next thing I saw was the update about the Kickstarter comments/drawings. Surely this means something. Right? Probably. Her name (okay, her nickname) is Sonny, and she is a fan of cats and of Oatmeal-like weirdness. Kittens (exploding or otherwise), unicorns, goats, pizza -- also valid topics.

About 10 years ago, my dad started developing Alzheimer's, and late last year he had to be moved to a nursing home. Its been an interesting couple of months as we've come to terms with the new normal. These pictures are among the last from the times before the disease begin its progression.

He snuck in among our cairn terrier's black pups who were born the same day and was promptly adopted by her and raised as a dog... nursing from her, not his mom, for a full year until the day the next litter was born. I'd love to see that drawn out. That cat was a dog, through and through... including chasing cats.

My head-sitting Siberian cat, Preia. She liked to walk across unsuspecting guests' heads, would often get her head stuck in a bag of spinach, and could pick up and carry small objects with her paws. I use the past tense because, as a born explorer bored of the limited opportunities on earth, she used those paws to build a transwarp spaceship and set off for where no cat has gone before. (This is not what actually happened, but it's how I like to remember her.)
