Wow, vulcan script is really pretty...
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2015-02-27T14:11:59-05:00
@Idle: I already have one on my left shoulder. I was thinking more along my upper thigh. Since I don't wear mini skirts, I think I can keep it hidden from the office overseer.
Jeff "Great Cane of Doom"™ Saxton 2015-02-27T14:12:19-05:00
Vulcan writing was sort of based on musical notes IIRC
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2015-02-27T14:14:14-05:00
I noted that GCoD. They are rather pretty. I'm still trying to find a credible source to just get the letters of the phrase for Live Long and Prosper. I think that should be short enough to hide.
I know Geist. It's OK to shed the tears, but only until we can break out the beers. He left us joy, let's give him good cheers.

So I went home for lunch today and figured I'd watch a Scrubs episode to cheer me up. Which one do I randomly pull up? First season episode about the characters first time dealing with the realization that 1 in 3 people who enter the hospital will die... that was an epic fail.
On a high note, Oatmeal's "The Dress" comic is hilarious.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2015-02-27T14:37:32-05:00

Catzalcoatal 2015-02-27T15:00:24-05:00
I didn't realize business casual had degenerated into pajama pants and workout tops in the office. (Not sure about her pants, just saying what the look in general promotes.)

Pope Pius IX then, he was no fun at all.

What's the over under on Trekkies getting that as a tatoo.........IN VULCAN?
Chris "The Historian" Loth 2015-02-27T15:16:53-05:00
@Catz, I know of at least three Trekkies (or Trekkers) that would get that in a heartbeat... in Vulcan. I already have one friend who worked with a linguist who specialized in Klingon to translate "without thorn, the Rose." which she then had added to one of her tattoos.
Catzalcoatal 2015-02-27T15:19:03-05:00
What the flower now? There must be contextual meaning that I'm missing there.
Eric 'Tchotchke' Aschner 2015-02-27T15:20:43-05:00
The Space Pope is reptilian.
Chris "The Historian" Loth 2015-02-27T15:25:06-05:00
It's a line from Paradise Lost.
In this case 'Rose' has a double meaning. The line from Paradise Lost references the flower but my friend also used it to reference herself as it's her middle name (given in honor of her grandmother).
Peter 'General Calculus' W. 2015-02-27T15:30:35-05:00

@GM, it should be!
@General C, I had no idea what the deal was until today regarding the dress, so you're not alone.
Also: "We are assembled here today to pay final respects to our honored dead. And yet it should be noted, in the midst of our sorrow, this death takes place in the shadow of new life, the sunrise of a new world; a world that our beloved comrade gave his life to protect and nourish. He did not feel this sacrifice a vain or empty one, and we will not debate his profound wisdom at these proceedings. Of my friend, I can only say this: Of all the souls I have encountered in my travels, his was the most... human." -Admiral James T. Kirk

It's so weird not entering in a bunch of new members every day.
Thanks Jeff. I'll need to just have the letters as the full phrase is too long and since i work in an office, I have to keep my tats hidden.

Instead of mourning his death, let's celebrate his life! Quit being a bunch of sad pandas.
I really like the way The Big Bang Theory handled it when the woman who did the voice of Howard's mom died. Very classy.
It was well done CB.
I'm not sure you could get "just the letters" in Vulcan for LLAP, shy of using the phonetic sounds I posted here that were in the film.
Does Vulcan have both a script (hand-written) and a font (printed) style? I know there are at least three variations on their writing.
