I loved that game, Kirby was my character. My brother always liked cheater star fox.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-03-26T15:07:41-04:00
I only started smash bros with the gamecube one. I loved my cousins' gamecube. And Mario Pary 2 takes the last part of the top 5 maybe. I don't know, so many are too close to call and I'd make them ties and just have more than 5 in my top 5. That was pretty much half my life growing up. And I've always played as racist white-face kirby in any smash bros. Black and white kirby is hilarious.
His old artwork had him as black and white on the box.
Mike Kabala 2015-03-26T15:09:07-04:00
Great. I kicked off a Nintendo 64 lovefest by mentioning a dice and card game. I was more from the arcade era, putting tokens in machines and wrecking my elbow with violent joystick moves.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-03-26T15:09:26-04:00
Mario Party 2 is infamous for being a relationship destroyer. That game gets so damn competitive. If you weren't yelling louder than your brothers or friends, you weren't playing right.
^ For Creeper to be nostalgic about.
I love Sonic. Had a Sega Megadrive and played the living hell out of that game. The Megadrive is still around somewhere, but the cartridges are missing in action.
Juha-Pekka Ahonen 2015-03-26T15:18:14-04:00
I've wanted for a while to find and play good text based rpg, but they arent that common, would also love to create one some day.
C.F. "The Ex-President" Heyns 2015-03-26T15:19:37-04:00
You could do steam games multiplayer too. Also the newer consuls have retro digital games. I saw Tomba the other day and was hit by a wave of nastalgia.... and immediately passed it up because I remembered that damn cart race thing and seriously fuck that (and for so little reward too....)
C.F. "The Ex-President" Heyns 2015-03-26T15:21:06-04:00
@Juha, look for an old text based game of the following name 'Rogue' make sure it is the OLD dos original, there are tons of cloned ones out there. If you prefer an updated graphical one search for 'Nethack'
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-03-26T15:22:16-04:00
text based is still around plenty on the internet. I've played some through. But I just learned some people didn't know you could drink raw milk. I did know, though, that it's illegal in some places, mostly cities, for some reason. And something like 1/5 people (the study was done in england, so I'll say there, but don't think it's much different in america) think milk and eggs come from plants. https://www.google.com/search…
C.F. "The Ex-President" Heyns 2015-03-26T15:22:18-04:00
@CB, I can't remeber how many coins I destroyed in the local arcades. I still have some floating around from a recent visit (by recent I mean from about 5 years ago. The arcade closed down in the meantime :( )
@Creeper: Sonic wasn't bad...for the first few...then it got to be too many. Just like movies that end up having 5+ in the series, they can become too much and annoying at the same time.
Potatten- I'm now playing Aladdin online. we take those old video games for granted! I was stuck on in the desert for awhile there. Also harder playing on a computer. You have completely derailed my plans for today!
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-03-26T15:43:04-04:00
Nobody saw my thing about "vegan" milk and eggs? I found an extreme of human ignorance, but SEGA.
lol, well you know you can buy a usb controller for your computer (Varying brands or an x-box usb one). I loved those old games. I just could NOT beat those on the SEGA, they kicked my ass....
They're just pretend milk and pretend eggs. Like almond milk and funky gunk they pass of as egg substitute. Probably soy in nature. Being vegan is often not a very health conscious move, given that people more than often do it very badly. Ignoring their crucial need to intake things like protein and other good stuff in the process through ignorant and blind decision making.)
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-03-26T15:51:41-04:00
What? No, note the "vegan". ""! And pasteurizing and the processes they put milk through makes it not-milk. Seriously, it's not the same stuff. More like watered down paint thinner with added vitamins. Besides, one of the bigger reasons milk is healthy is the healthy bacteria in it. Pasteurizing, homogenizing, and any other process they do makes it so bad they actually have to add several things like vitamin D back into it to be able to sell it at all. Raw, real milk, though...
Also, there are a lot of people. Some of them are going to be dumb enough to think really stupid things. Look at Food Babe if you need an Example.
Moving on again, Rocket Knight had a sequel..... Rocket Knight itself was better.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-03-26T15:53:18-04:00
But the original point was that I think it was 1 in 5 english people, likely at least that bad in america and especially cities, think milk and eggs aren't animal products, they're plants. That's creepy.
Bottle toads?!? I don't remember that! And it's comforting to hear you couldn't beat the sets games!! There's on sonic (the earlier versions, not the later 10th version) that I would always get to the last level and couldn't beat. It was incredibly unnerving! Even now playing Aladdin! Damn I'm having a hard time!
...I might have to keep an Xbox controller, with the USB charger cable attached, with my laptop. I have FFVII on there, and haven't played it there yet. I also have FFIII.
Though, lately I've been playing Destiny(kind of randomly, since I've done EVERYTHING you can up to the current DLC), FFXIV: A Realm Reborn, and still need to start FF Type-0. Should also go back and re-do Mass Effect, since the third games has a DLC I haven't played yet....so many things I should do...yet those are distracting me when I get home.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-03-26T15:55:24-04:00
Also, not SEGA. It had a couple, but really sanic and street fighting games were all it really had, and I feel like the rest was to make up for not being Nintendo, sorry for any feelings hurt. Also, https://www.youtube.com/watch…
Yes, but then it's straight from the cow.... do you not recall the whole mad-cow disease scare thingy?
Also of note, I never beat the Terminator 2 game either.....
I've debated FF XI GM, but I've never really had anyone that I could get to play it with me and it's just the kind of game I find less fun solo personally.... for the most part anyway. I already rocked FF VII and FF VIII on steam myself. I'm not sure if I also want a digital version of FF III, though it would fix that stupid mognet thing....
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-03-26T15:58:46-04:00
So many things wrong with that, Potatten. Especially since it was a scare for the most part, only about as effective as a normal outbreak.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-03-26T15:59:42-04:00
Anyway, all this conversation I'm not too involved in is detracting from games and video time, i.e. spring break from 7 am to midnight, so 'scuse me a moment.
Battle Toads was a Genesis game.... what do you mean Zem. Also I saw that and it was good. The Genesis did have a wider selection of games than most seem to think it did though. Some of the titles were just more obscure because of more third-party makers.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-03-26T16:07:59-04:00
No, I meant I didn't prefer SEGA much, sorry for inclarity.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-03-26T16:10:51-04:00
And money, Potatten. You know how much money some companies made when they suddenly had to obsessively do things like that? Yeah, scaring helps, but it hurts any other company. That's the only reason it's really illegal. They try to make raw milk sound like poison and outlaw it so it has to be processed by larger companies. I'm not a "Gov. is in bed with every company" conspiracist whatsoever, but they do have some influence for sure. Because somehow a congressman with a law degree knows more about what's good for us than any doctor I've met.
@Potatten: Addicting. And fun. I started with the free trial(lets you get to level 20, and you have 20 days[if I recall correctly]). You can be EVERY class, on one character. You just need to switch your weapon, after unlocking a class, to become it. Before the end of my first day, I was planning on buying the game(and subscribing since it actually isn't that bad of a price, I think it was like $45-50 for a 90-day subscription). It took me ~2.5-3 weeks to get to the max level on 1 class(max level is 50 until sometime in June or July, forget which, when the new expansion comes out), out of the 9-10 fighting classes, and 5-6 crafting classes. I have LOTS ahead to do still, since I'm not even done the full story quests(that are currently available), as well as all the side quests to unlock the Hard Mode, and Extreme Mode, of some of the dungeons. Plus...I have WAY sub-par gear.
I am so thankful my landlord went into the basement the other day and smelled that gas leak. Seems to happen frequently here! Older buildings... man....
I live near the one that blew up last year, about this same time, almost exactly. I was in my room and felt it. A lot of deaths in that one. Building next to it also collapsed. Just seems to be happening more and more. FDNY do not eff around with gas leak reports! The building next to us is abandoned. The mailman told me he thought he smelled gas. I called, and there were there before I could even hang up the phone.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-03-26T16:34:30-04:00
That's fast even if the fire department were on fire! Usually they take at least 3-5 minutes even if it's severe to the best of my knowledge. Out here, we have a volunteer fire department in the town I live in, but the police station for the county is like a half hour away, so it's kinda creepy to think about.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-03-26T16:35:53-04:00
Finally finished youtube videos. Now that I have fun games to play again and time for them, regularly uploaded videos seem like a chore. Weird.
Nick Griffin 2015-03-26T16:58:37-04:00
Owen ive played through every dlc Mass effect has to offer spanning all three games probably 7 to 8 times and still have yet to procure my "perfect" playthrough....did you download the extended cut for Mass effect 3? Not sure if thats available anymore.
Juha-Pekka Ahonen 2015-03-26T17:01:24-04:00
Btw, did you guys know that there is Finnish Tv-production of Hobbit from 93, with Eng subs on youtube... Now you do
I got that extended cut thing when it first came out, it's just the Citadel DLC that I haven't played(and I think that's all...been a while since I played it). Though, I would need to hook my Xbox 360 back up to play them again...and that would involve finding all the cables for it again(put them in the box, and put that into the storage room at home).
Nick Griffin 2015-03-26T17:04:42-04:00
ill say this, make sure you dont lose any chars in survival mission of mass effect 2...if you do you wont get nearly the same fun out of citadel dlc
My first play through of ME2, I lost half my people(rushed the entire game). After that, I never lost anyone on next play(even without all upgrades). Last one I was doing...I had almost all the upgrades, went with the same people I normally do, and still lost 2. Not sure what happened with it...but it frustrated me, especially since I kept trying for a few weeks, and same results. Even with mining for more resources and upgrading more stuff. So I put it aside, and got a PS4 since all my friends are on that now.
Nick Griffin 2015-03-26T17:10:15-04:00
Ill tell you exactly what happened, soon as the Reaper IFF is installed in the normandy...You need to go through the Omega relay immediatley....also you need to own all the ship upgrades..Serris armor, thanix cannon...and Multicore shielding, Also you have to do every single charachters loyalty mission and succeed on them before going through that relay.
Nick Griffin 2015-03-26T17:13:57-04:00
Once you get to the collector stronghold you have to assign the right people to certain tasks....Salarian scientist should be assigned to take the suriviors back to the ship....Either Garrus or the cerberus girl needs to be assigned to leadership roles.....and Talia the quarian should be assigned to going through the heat vents.....the asari needs to be your shield lady for the bee swarm part
Had almost all the upgrades before getting the Reaper IFF. Did all the loyalty missions, and got them all loyal. Doesn't explain why Grunt, who has all possibly upgrades for him, was killed.
Nick Griffin 2015-03-26T17:33:31-04:00
Yea grunt will die if you dont do the second part of my comments....and/or other chars.
Nick Griffin 2015-03-26T17:34:24-04:00
but those 3 ship upgrades i mentioned are 100% pivotal, if you dont have even one of the 3 chars will die
After the first play through, the ship upgrades were always number one thing that I got. Didn't matter about anything else. Only thing I NEVER got, on any play through, was the Med Bay upgrade.
I think this drowned into that previous conversation and will repeat. "Btw, did you guys know that there is Finnish Tv-production of Hobbit from 93, with Eng subs on youtube... Now you do" This came to my mind as Zem keeped talking about youtube videos.
Rob Johnsrud 2015-03-26T19:03:29-04:00
Not really sure why the comment section has evolved into all this off topic stuff. From what I know- the comments section should be about the project only.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-03-26T19:04:43-04:00
I saw you say that, though I prefer not to taint my mind with any tolkien-based story with less of a budget than LotR: return of Jafar. I tend to think highly of them.
Also, it was the right ones. You can all beat yourself up for not seeing it before. Goodbye, we're going to Omaha in 50 degree snow. Oh, Nebraska, you never cease to amaze me!
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-03-26T19:05:14-04:00
Heya rob- we can gladly talk about the project anytime! We just built a little community on here. But we're also here to answer any questions or discuss concerns about the project, kittenconsul, etc. :) feel free to discuss anything.
Everyone is kind of out of the way for me. Only three people from outside of North America were n the top thirty. I cannot account for those they decided to choose outside of that.
Kevin "Lord Zombitten" Buckner 2015-03-26T19:25:55-04:00
I find it surprising that there are still people who make disparaging comments about what we do here
My comment was far from disparging. I was just pointing out how the comments section should be about the actual PROJECT. Fun fact: there is many chat options out there you could use instead of this one. I will contact the project maker if I need to.
As we talk about the project all the time and welcome new and open communication regarding it that's really neither here nor there. This comment section is full of the fans, making it entirely about the project more or less in it's entirety as a gathering place for it's members.. YOu could join us, but you'd rather not clearly. Which is fine, to each their own.
Kevin "Lord Zombitten" Buckner 2015-03-26T19:51:18-04:00
Also, the creator is very well aware of what goes on in here. He has encouraged us and thanked us on a number of occasions
We also keep in regular contact with the creators and report it here. There is also the update section, the FAQ section, and the [contact me] button for questions and answers; even though we readily provide any information if anyone asks.
What do you guys think the favor cards will do? So far we've got:
Attack, Nope, Future, Skip, Shuffle, Cat, Kitten, Diffuse, and now Favor.... Did we ever establish how skip was different than shuffle?
I liked that one! Bella said she really liked it too! https://www.youtube.com/watch… I really do hope it got picked. That one is in my personal top five!
Kevin "Lord Zombitten" Buckner 2015-03-26T20:14:46-04:00
It looks like it would be a minimum of 67.50 to have KC pens made. At least through pens.com
I have to look up the place i had mine made... they had a lot of sales and stuff. it's annoying because they always send me annoying coupons, but now i actually need one!
Kevin "Lord Zombitten" Buckner 2015-03-26T20:18:36-04:00
Yeah, they are only $0.45 each, but they have a minimum order of 150.
How could I have forgotten about Smash Bros?! I played the shit out of that game.

I liked sonic.... not as big a fan. I did <3 that rocket knight game on sega though. It definitely had some goodies.
My favorite gaming experience was playing the original text-based Zork trilogy on a VAX 11/780 when I was in college.
I do remember the sega versions of various game (*cough*Aladdin/Lion King*Cough*) being much harder.....

but those 3 ship upgrades i mentioned are 100% pivotal, if you dont have even one of the 3 chars will die
After the first play through, the ship upgrades were always number one thing that I got. Didn't matter about anything else. Only thing I NEVER got, on any play through, was the Med Bay upgrade.
so... umm...... hey...
Hey
hi. for 10 minutes. Then "nevermore''
(quick, which quotation mark was actually 2 apostrophes?! You get 3 guesses.)
This is the best thing ever. What's been keeping me from here for so long.

I think this drowned into that previous conversation and will repeat. "Btw, did you guys know that there is Finnish Tv-production of Hobbit from 93, with Eng subs on youtube... Now you do" This came to my mind as Zem keeped talking about youtube videos.
Not really sure why the comment section has evolved into all this off topic stuff. From what I know- the comments section should be about the project only.
Oh, Nebraska, you never cease to amaze me!
seriously, though, how is that possible?!
Heya rob- we can gladly talk about the project anytime! We just built a little community on here. But we're also here to answer any questions or discuss concerns about the project, kittenconsul, etc. :) feel free to discuss anything.
Actually- I'm curlous- for those that aren't hosting a kittenconsul- will there be one near you that you can attend?
Everyone is kind of out of the way for me. Only three people from outside of North America were n the top thirty. I cannot account for those they decided to choose outside of that.
I find it surprising that there are still people who make disparaging comments about what we do here
lol I think they're silly. Just people who want something to pine about and can't find anything else.
Meh
My comment was far from disparging. I was just pointing out how the comments section should be about the actual PROJECT. Fun fact: there is many chat options out there you could use instead of this one. I will contact the project maker if I need to.
As we talk about the project all the time and welcome new and open communication regarding it that's really neither here nor there. This comment section is full of the fans, making it entirely about the project more or less in it's entirety as a gathering place for it's members.. YOu could join us, but you'd rather not clearly. Which is fine, to each their own.
Speaking of which - i just went back and looked at the new Favor card- and noticed the cat running away with the man's eyeball... that's ... sweet.
Creeper, I hadn't noticed that before! That's freaking awesome
lol I did think that was a nice touch too Creeper! He's got a little X over one of the eyes too!
hehe... it's all about attention to detail.
What do you guys think the favor cards will do? So far we've got:
Attack, Nope, Future, Skip, Shuffle, Cat, Kitten, Diffuse, and now Favor.... Did we ever establish how skip was different than shuffle?
I just saw all of Amanda Giles' Haikus on twitter. I'm glad she's hosting a party as well.

Good question! Favor cards are new. They force an opponent to give you a card of their choice from their hand.
I liked her video, there were a lot of good ones!
I'm curious to know who all will be "chosen" ones as well. My vote still goes to the apocalypse. It was creative and pretty different from the others.
I liked that one! Bella said she really liked it too! https://www.youtube.com/watch… I really do hope it got picked. That one is in my personal top five!
It looks like it would be a minimum of 67.50 to have KC pens made. At least through pens.com
I love that he throws the dirt on himself...hahahaaaa... excellent special effects. :)
I would have promoted that one if I had seen it before now! That was awesome! I really hope it wins!
That's not all that bad for trinkets! Not too bad at least, pins generally run higher, even if their button pins and not lapel pins.
I have to look up the place i had mine made... they had a lot of sales and stuff. it's annoying because they always send me annoying coupons, but now i actually need one!
Yeah, they are only $0.45 each, but they have a minimum order of 150.
It certainly is not only difficult to do small orders, but not very profitable either so it DOES make sense.
