@potatten- we had been walking for ages, I was tired and we came across the cart. Being pushed in a shopping cart In the middle of the night in nyc is highly entertaining. Except my friend kept pushing hard and letting me go. Or he decided to go into a store and parked me at a mailbox and went inside. (I Couldn't get out on my own)
@GM, I'm hanging in there. So tired this morning. My oxygen mask didn't seal right last night so basically even though I was unconcious for 6 hours, I didn't really sleep. :(

Ok bye
Kevin "Lord Zombitten" Buckner 2015-03-30T12:34:55-04:00
@BaKhan: Yeah, I know that feeling all too well. Seems like with the way it is for me most night. For some reason I can't really get a good nights sleep.
well, I don't think it's possible to stop acceptions on the invite. Again, banking on the new york factor. The bierhaus will take people as long as they're buying drinks at the bar, or drinks/food at a table. LIke any business. They'll be the ones to say "we're full." I just posted in the invite that i"ll do my best to accommodate everyone, but space is limited (as are the decks). We'll have two big tables for game play (each seat about 12 people) - and that's what I have to keep an eye on. Everyone else can come and hang out, wait for their turn to play (I'll have a list), and have dinner while they're waiting. Also - i know it will be fluid. 70 people aren't going to show up at once. (I HOPE!)
It was giving me a permissions error and then deleted the post while I was trying to figure out what box to click. I re-posted it with public access permission. (I hope!)
Kevin "Lord Zombitten" Buckner 2015-03-30T13:15:31-04:00
@LZ, I ordered the pin vise and end mill off of Amazon. I get very obsessive when choosing tools to use for a specific project. You can find lots more selection online than you can at Lowes or Home Depot.
Kevin "Lord Zombitten" Buckner 2015-03-30T13:19:45-04:00
True dat, yo! I got my miter saw from Amazon. It was much less expensive than anything at Home Depot and Lowe's. It was even less expensive than Harbor Freight, and higher quality than HF.
Mike Kabala 2015-03-30T13:21:51-04:00
I should've taken a picture of my pip template and of the die with pips cut into it. I hope to remedy that tonight. I asked my wife to get me some white enamel today so that I can paint them using (prolly) a toothpick.
I already had the pip layout mostly done from a design for a custom dice project I have yet to get my reward from. The file is in Adove Illustrator. The pips were laid out too close to the edge, so I moved them inward about 0.5mm and changed the stroke to get a black donut with a white center. Once I glued that to a piece of 1/8 inch basswood, I just drilled the template from the inside out using the donuts as my center marks. After gluing rails along the die perimeter, I had a nifty little slip-on template that I could use to mark all six sides.
@BaKhan: It could be something like that, or it could be because the last ~10 years I've spent working such late hours that my body hasn't adjusted to being in bed before 1am. That, coupled with being up at 6:30am for the next day(that is one thing I do not miss about working in kitchens...so little sleep, so much work).
@Potatten - where were they having it? maybe they realize they can't hold that many people? I dunno.
Kevin "Lord Zombitten" Buckner 2015-03-30T13:29:55-04:00
Very nice! Will a toothpick work as a paint brush? I have some very fine-point paintbrushes that I use for painting miniatures that I would recommend instead.
@Potatten: No, it cannot be butter. It's a mixture of chemicals only.
Jeff "Great Cane of Doom"™ Saxton 2015-03-30T13:31:46-04:00
Toothpicks or smoothly cut off dowels are great paint brushes for doing repeated items like small dots or circles ... you just have to think of them more as ink stamp than 'brush'. Dip in paint, apply to object, dip in paint, apply to object ...
Jeff "Great Cane of Doom"™ Saxton 2015-03-30T13:31:57-04:00
the Dice look nice, CB ...
Mike Kabala 2015-03-30T13:33:29-04:00
I thought about using a fine point brush, but I'm pretty clumsy when it comes to using them. Since the pips are already indented into the wood, I am thinking a toothpick would give me sufficient control ofer the paint deposition.
I love how stupid some people are. Telling me I would get my refund sent to me, telling me a tracking number would be sent to me, and yet, two months later...nothing has shown up. Got to love liars like that.
I never heard anything about a disqualification. I maintain the manual list and on the part Bella set up neither me nor her have had a response as being noted form them. I don't think they would even be on that list if they were actually disqualified.
Kevin "Lord Zombitten" Buckner 2015-03-30T14:20:47-04:00
Damn! Sucks for them, then, eh? I can't imagine why you would go through so much trouble to make the video and promote the Hell out of it, just to not follow through at the end.
I think they are getting out of hand with these updates. I demand fewer updates!
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2015-03-30T14:54:33-04:00
I would like to volunteer for trinket play testing! I'd host a party and everything!
Kevin "Lord Zombitten" Buckner 2015-03-30T14:54:34-04:00
I especially don't want an update about shipping ;-P
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-03-30T14:54:35-04:00
Stop the updates! Just don't say another word until the decks arrive at our doorsteps!
Mike Kabala 2015-03-30T15:02:26-04:00
Speaking of updates, you can get an entire print 'n Play of Exploding Puppies if you are one of the first 50 to pledge for the project. Just send the creator an email address and he'll send you a link to download the entire 52 card deck. You don't even have to wait until the end of the project to get it. Of course, I would never suggest you cancel your pledge after you get your P7P copy. ....

P&P

Kevin "Lord Zombitten" Buckner 2015-03-30T15:08:06-04:00
I don't think he will. Also, I have the P&P, and I'm less than impressed. 8 cards that do nothing. Eight!
Kevin "Lord Zombitten" Buckner 2015-03-30T15:08:29-04:00
And, the cards are still his pirated clip art
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-03-30T15:14:01-04:00
Yeah, I thought about doing something with that game, but when I looked down at the sample cards, I just kinda backed off and left it alone. Not nearly as good as Inman's stuff.
Mike Kabala 2015-03-30T15:14:05-04:00
And they were designed in Microsoft Word format!
Kevin "Lord Zombitten" Buckner 2015-03-30T15:20:23-04:00
Yes, very good point, CB!
Mike Kabala 2015-03-30T15:23:30-04:00
Wow, you're right @LZ. It even says right on the card that it "does absolutely nothing!"
Kevin "Lord Zombitten" Buckner 2015-03-30T15:25:25-04:00
Overall, the game looks like a "Truth or Dare" drinking game with the possibility of being eliminated. I don't think it would be fun to play sober. Also, I abhor the notion of a card that does absolutely nothing in a game without any requirement to eliminate cards from your hand. Let alone eight of them!
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-03-30T15:25:30-04:00
Yeah, not quite as good as this game. I was hoping nobody would take it into their own hands.
Kevin "Lord Zombitten" Buckner 2015-03-30T15:28:09-04:00
Or at least if they did, put more than a half hour of thought into it.

Okay CB. I re-did the map again. I'm not able to change the list t show city and state. At least I haven't figured how to if I can. But "most" of the places where games are being held are known to Google, so when I searched the name of the sight, in most cases they popped right up. (Woulda saved me a shit-ton of time had I known.) Anyway, now at least the name of the event sight shows in the list, again, for most places, I think that's the best I can do.
(Random Catzalcoatal sighting.) For those of you talking about tools, miter saw people I'm looking at you. You should check SlickDeals.net on a daily basis. I've landed 3gallon compression, 8 gallon compressor and12 gallon wet vac all for under $30 each. (New.) Got a few rolling tool chests w/top chest for under $50 and various tools at ridiculous prices.
As it goes checking that site daily for tools, coffee, electronics and clothing is a must. Hell, I landed my 7.1 Onkyo system w/receiver for $225 new. The receiver alone is worth more than that.
Catzalcoatal 2015-03-30T17:36:08-04:00
Oh and congrats to all that landed a last round play test spot!
Catzalcoatal 2015-03-30T17:37:29-04:00
As for LED bulbs, do you guys have access to Cree bulbs in Europe?
The Cree now comes in a system that looks exactly like a normal light bulb with a heavy CFL metal heat sink base. The bulb part is coated in rubber and looks like frosted glass at quick glance. Pretty nice.

@Creeper, actually, I think it is a problem with the sleeve, lol!
@GM, have you ever been tested for sleep apnea? You should get tested, it could be serious.
@Creeper: Heh...you have 69 reservations. Might want to put a stop on that, at least until you have word from the manager....or the other NYC group.

That 80000th comment is getting close isn't it... Has there every been a KickStarter with so many comments?
@Edwin, check out Mighty No. 9 it has 360,693 comments and still going, we're not even close!
@GoU: There is one with something like 300k. Might Number 9, their comment section is still going, and they ended their campaign a few years ago.
And as per usual...3pm hits and this place becomes a ghost town.
How hard can it be to find a specific 20-watt LED bulb made by Philips a year ago? :PP
It still costs three times the newer variety. Guess why?
Boo!
@Tsveta: Because it's rare now?
Nope. It was more expensive at the time the new one came out. And, now it's rare.
Because it doesn't turn off every hour, that's why. :D
So I ordered 5 75-watt off Amazon and the elusive 100-watt from the only website in UK with a price below 60 euro.

It's better than an incandescent in terms of even lightning. Almost no cable shadow on the ceiling.
It does make several light shadows on the wall because it's segmented but that's nothing.
