Ah, and size helps too, yeah. I'm 6'3" and I haven't seen my exact weight in months, but I'm a good deal bigger than most people in every dimension, so by the time I get really drunk at all, I've had enough that most people would probably be stupid-drunk or out of it by that point..
My roommate is 6'10" and like 400 pounds, I think, and he's only been slightly drunk once ever.
`
I kind of envy lightweights, it would save so much money and time! But would be all too easy to go overboard by accident.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-11-20T16:46:07-05:00
@BaKhan: I actually love babysitting kids. Even infants. The problem in this instance is that the mother made (IMO) a boat load of bad choices starting with:
Wasting 2 years of her life in a long distance romance only to have that jerk not only dump her but ghost her.
Rebounding with a married man who (since founding out she was pregnant with his kid) has been mostly absent, wasn't there in the delivery room when the child was born, has barely purchased anything for the baby.
When I asked her if she was going to seek child support, apparently he gave her this long sob story around all of his problems, how he is trying to get through journalism school and he is suffering from depression. So now, she refuses to ask because she doesn't want to be a "trigger".
What she chooses to do with her life is on her but I refuse to be a surrogate "dad" with my money or time while baby daddy is free to pursue other women and she is spreading her legs for other men. And if that makes me a crappy friend, so be it.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-11-20T16:51:16-05:00
As for drinking: on Saturday I consumed a whole bottle of Amarula in under an hour. That sounds impressive accept that it's a fruiter version of Bailey's. Since I didn't have it with vodka, I was only got a small buzz.
I'm not sure why I can't process booze like I use to. I think part of it is my tolerance has gotten so much higher and my body has gotten much older.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2017-11-20T19:14:19-05:00
Geist, that doesn't make you a bad friend, and in fact having that perspective is exactly what makes friends so important! You can see the whole situation from a different, non-included angle, so you can help her make the best decisions for this, especially since it's not really for her sake, I'd be worried more about the child's support environment growing up.
You definitely shouldn't be expected or obligated to effectively function as a pawn-off for the infant, but you can definitely function as an adviser for major decisions, like why child support might be a good idea!
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-11-21T09:00:18-05:00
Morning kittens. In honor of the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, here is a short list of things I'm grateful for:
1) Having a job that keeps me in paychecks and benefits for more than a year. It feels good not to have to go through layoffs and job hunting again.
2) Getting paid enough so that I can visit BaKhan, his wife and Pumpkin. Halloween is so much fun with such nice folks.
3) My health, such as it is. I could improve it certainly but I'm not suffering anything major.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-11-21T10:06:55-05:00
@Geist, don't get me wrong, I love kids, I really truly think that they are great. I'm just glad that as tired as I am at the end of the day, that I don't have to deal with teenage drama, or such. Thats all. As per drinking, back in the day my go to for a party was a 26 of whatever and a case of beer. Get a good glow going with the hard stuff, and keep it there with the beers... ah to be a teenager again, but then again, drama, so no! ;)
I really hope I get one of the jobs I'm applying for today...all three are with the CBE(Calgary Board of Education) doing payroll. All three are 35 hours a week. And all three pay the same, or more, than what I get now...to start.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-11-21T12:26:40-05:00
@GM, best of luck! I'm crossing my fingers for you! You deserve this!
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-11-21T12:34:40-05:00
@GM: Good luck my friend! I know you'll get an offer from all of them. That is how good you are!
Lord Zombitten 2017-11-21T13:46:08-05:00
Good luck, GM!
Wow! So much to catch up on. BaKhan, it's great to hear that your wife is doing so well. What are T3's, though? In my world, T3 refers to triiodothyronine, which is a thyroid hormone. I doubt that's what she was given, though.
Geist, I don't think refusing to be a surrogate "dad" for your friend's kid makes you a bad friend. Baby daddy is there, he should step up and be responsible. If he's afraid of ruining his marriage, he should have thought about that before he got some action on the side.
Zem, sorry to hear that you had a great week ahead, only to have it snatched away.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-11-21T13:51:21-05:00
@LZ, Thanks! T3's are Tylenol 3, with codeine. Its a pretty strong prescription pain killer. Stronger than anything off the shelf, not as strong as say morphine.
Lord Zombitten 2017-11-21T13:54:02-05:00
Sorry I haven't been around for a few days. Long story short, my sister's douche of an ex-husband is being douchier than normal, so Thanksgiving gets to be at my house. I've spent the last few days helping my sister move out of her house. They bought the house from his uncle, and she never wanted it. So, she was going to stay there until he paid off her portion of the equity. She thought that was going to be next summer, as was the plan. Then he did it a month ago, giving her 30 days to get out. He then told her not to move because he'd let her rent the place.
The lease he drew up was illegal. It was for 11 years, with no way to get out early; rent was about double the cost of the mortgage; she would be financially responsible for all property taxes, maintenance, utilities, repairs, etc.; she would have a curfew of 10 PM; and no visitors would be allowed between 10 PM and 6 AM.
Lord Zombitten 2017-11-21T13:55:00-05:00
He didn't present this to her until last week. When she refused to sign, he told her to be out by last Sunday, or she'd be in contempt.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-11-21T13:58:07-05:00
@LZ, uh, he knows that indentured servitude is illegal nowadays right? Who in their right mind would ever sign something like that? Curfew, really? Maybe its time the ex-bro learned about the sharp end of a fencing foil? ;)
Lord Zombitten 2017-11-21T13:58:49-05:00
@BaKhan, I see. Those seem to have a different name for each region. Here, they're called Lortab, other places call them Vicodin
Lord Zombitten 2017-11-21T13:59:45-05:00
Oh, I wish I could speak to him in the languages of violence and brutality! It would be so cathartic!
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2017-11-21T15:00:55-05:00
GM, wow, that sounds awesome! And not to mention probably less than half the BS you have to put up with now! Heck, with how much you've had to do, you could probably do 2 of those jobs and it would feel like nothing changed!
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2017-11-21T15:05:26-05:00
Wow, sounds like he would do well to learn how to speak those languages! Though I'm pretty sure if she'd accidentally signed that contract, there's no way it would hold up in court. Actually, pretty sure how he conducted everything was completely illegal, but if she moved out anyways, then no need to worry about all that.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-11-21T15:05:52-05:00
@LZ, and simpler... ;) I feel bad for your sister, how can ass hats like that even still exist in this day in age? Hope it all works out!
Lord Zombitten 2017-11-21T15:26:44-05:00
Zem, she took one look at the lease and effectively said "Screw this noise, I'm out!" It just means that my parents' house is too full of her stuff to host Thanksgiving; hence why it's at my house.
The up side is that somehow, thinking about it being at my house led me to the conclusion that I should make stewed pears for Thanksgiving. I haven't had those since I came home from the Netherlands, but I remember them being so delicious.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-11-21T15:31:53-05:00
It was for 11 years, with no way to get out early; rent was about double the cost of the mortgage; she would be financially responsible for all property taxes, maintenance, utilities, repairs, etc.; she would have a curfew of 10 PM; and no visitors would be allowed between 10 PM and 6 AM.
Um, your ex BIL seems to be confusing your sister with a teenager. No prospective tenant would agree to those terms in the first place. If I were your sister, I'd leave the house but with the door open. Let any passerby have a crack at the fridge and copper plumbing.
@LZ: That made me want the drunken pears I had in Portugal. But more Christmassy by doing more of a mulled wine rather than just the typical red wine.
Lord Zombitten 2017-11-21T15:53:53-05:00
Geist, that would have been fantastic! Instead, she got all her stuff out and locked the keys in the house.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2017-11-21T16:26:36-05:00
LZ, yeah, the best thing to do is just to distance yourselves and have no contact with that guy if possible. Though it probably isn't.
Ooh, stewed pears? I've never even heard of that, but it sounds delicious!
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2017-11-21T16:29:30-05:00
Geist, haha, that's great! I mean, horrible, but great!
`
LZ, that's pretty good too! Though I hope you made sure every possible entrance was closed, sealed, and blocked off with obstacles, otherwise it's just getting a new key made, which isn't very expensive, or worst case calling a locksmith, which is a little bit.
Should have opened a can of tuna and left it in the back of some cupboard or in a vent or something. Wait, no, this is all becoming childish. Which makes it better, but worse at the same time.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-11-21T16:52:31-05:00
@LZ: I like your sister's idea. Especially if there isn't a second set of keys. He will either have to break in (I hope she set the alarm so that the police shows up) and pay for the broken window or call a locksmith who will charge him by the hour.
Lord Zombitten 2017-11-21T20:40:36-05:00
I don't know if he had a set of keys. I know she changed the locks after she kicked him out. I joked about leaving him a "stool" in the corner. What did happen, though, is my sister found two dead mice in the crawlspace under the house. My sister left them there.
@LZ, the more I think of it, the more revenge stuff I keep thinking of! ;) How about dumping some sardine or oyster "juice" down the air vents... its like the stinky gift that keeps on giving! Every time that oil heats up, another "treat"... ;)
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-11-22T10:26:06-05:00
Morning kittens! The day before Turkey Day and I'm at the office. In fact, I'm surprised by the number of people that showed up today. Don't they have a life? I know that I don't so that is my excuse.
@BaKhan: your idea wins!
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-11-22T10:54:22-05:00
@Geist, why thank you m'lady! I've got the perfect storm of genetics to be a sh*t disturber... ;) Half Scottish so I have a racial memory of revenge, grudges, blood feuds.... and half Welsh so I tend to be quite creative. Mix the two, and well... you get the idea... ;)
I hope you have a fantastic (American) thanksgiving! I know you have a lot of work to do (because: douche bag), but do try and do something nice for yourself as well! You deserve it!
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-11-22T11:36:31-05:00
@BaKhan: I have a Friendsgiving dinner that I am going to after work. Tomorrow, I might go and see the new Justice League movie and then come home and cook dinner. Truth be told, I am still so tired, I might just spend tomorrow sleeping.
Even though I usually don't partake in it, I will be venturing out on Black Friday to see if I can score some bed sheets on the cheap. I need new colors for my bed.
Last night I purchased the rest of the ingredients to make Alton Brown's eggnog. Funny thing is, people were saying that the receipe makes 2 gallons but it only calls for a pint each of milk, half and half and whipping cream. Plus 1 cup each bourbon, rum, brandy, a dozen egg yolks and a pound of sugar. Hope it taste good. The booze alone set me back $76 bucks.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-11-22T12:31:04-05:00
@Geist, that sounds like fun! I have heard good things about JL, make sure you stay through both credits teasers, most people have missed the second one, which is supposedly the best... couldn't say from first hand experience though. Honestly Ben Afleck as Batman, just doesn't work for me. I've never cared for his acting, and Batman Vs. Superman, was pretty terrible, imo.
Shopping on BF for anything other than something you actually need never made any sense to me, so good luck on some cheap sheets! Think Egyptian cotton, all of our bed sheets for our kingsize are Egyptian, super high thread count and so luxurious! ;)
You'll have to let us know how the egg nog turns out! I've never tried making it before so am quite curious! ;) I bet it expands quite a bit with the reaction of the milk and the alcohol (and the sugar, etc.). How long does it stay good for? Two gallons of anything is quite a commitment! ;)
Lord Zombitten 2017-11-22T12:51:02-05:00
I agree about the BF shopping. One of my favorite quotes about BF is "Black Friday, because there's no better way of showing that we're thankful for what we have than beating each other up over shit we don't need."
BaKhan, did you see the director's cut of BvS? It clarified so much and made the movie so much better (not that making the theatrical release better was a huge task to begin with).
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2017-11-22T13:07:57-05:00
Yeah, I finally saw BvS last week, and now I get what everyone's saying. There were so many little ways they could have made it infinitely better!
On BF, I've only ever done it once, and that's because my brother wanted stuff and my parents were looking for something, so we went to Best Buy. Not a ton of actually good deals, but you do get to stand in line for almost an hour, so there's that if you like standing in lines.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-11-22T13:16:08-05:00
@LZ, that quote is awesome! I would definitely use that. The more time that passes and the more Americanized Canada becomes the more we are getting to that same point. I can't remember us ever having BF sales here until maybe 10 years ago or so. Used to be the big sales day was boxing day, and shopping would be hectic but not violent. :(
I have not seen the directors cut, but honestly not sure if I could sit through that movie a second time. It wasn't even that the movie was disjointed or was lacking information/whatever. It was the idea that here we go again, someone gets a hold of a bunch of kyptonite and goes after superman. Really how many times does he have to be attacked by that stuff till he just gets rid of it? Hire a crew to get it all, and launch it into space already! Jeeezzzz! I mean, what kind of a threat would Batman, or anyone really, be to Supe if there was not kryptonite? Oh well... I always saw Batman as dealing with micro problems (street thugs, etc.) and Superman dealing with macro problems (world destruction, aliens, etc.). Having the two of them fight, fundamentally makes little sense to me, and the inclusion of Afleck, just kinda put all of that over the top for me I guess.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2017-11-22T13:55:27-05:00
BaKhan, and ironically it's dying out a bit here because of Cyber Monday. So I guess don't worry, CM will overthrow BF soon!
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2017-11-22T13:59:28-05:00
That view of BvS makes sense, but once they wrote Superman as literally invincible and with literally infinite strength, they needed to keep around some cop-out to keep him in check.
What really broke BvS for me was the terrible logic, like why did nobody just come up with an idea of "So, Superman is infinitely powerful, we need a big red button in case he goes rogue, but for the time being, he's incredibly helpful, so we'll make the weapon, but keep it on hold until Superman becomes some sort of a threat."
And the inaccuracies to the original stuff like Doomsday, who was way cooler in the comics. Heck, almost every non-main character was way cooler in the comics, the movies only ever focus on the main heroes, and even they could usually be better.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-11-22T14:02:12-05:00
*sigh*
@LZ: I actually needs some new sheets and the stores I go to are never crowded. You know where the fighting will be? At the ELECTRONICS STORE. I don't need a TV that badly to want to fight over one. I really am trying to save money on a purchase that will cost me twice as much most other times of the year. I will say that I refuse to shop on Thanksgiving Day and despise stores that make workers come in on that day.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-11-22T14:04:22-05:00
@BaKhan: JL is getting some really rough reviews down here. I'm seeing this curiosity's sake. And a favorite actor has an un-credited part so I'm hoping to see him on the big screen.
Lord Zombitten 2017-11-22T15:08:05-05:00
Geist, I do agree with going out to buy something you actually need. And I also agree that places like Bed Bath and Beyond aren't the war zones that electronics stores and Wal-Mart tend to be. The extra dumb thing is that the "killer deals" on electronics are typically on off-brand, stripped-down models that won't last through the year. For example, my mom went and got a $40 tablet. It was made by polaroid. It was running Android Jellybean when Lollypop was out. The device couldn't handle anything more recent than Jellybean, though. It was lacking in RAM and internal storage. She replaced it after six months.
I don't have a problem with people getting stuff they need, though. As long as they're civilized about it. When they start fighting, I start judging.
Lord Zombitten 2017-11-22T15:09:34-05:00
I think the biggest casting mistake in BvS was Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. His performance, more than anything else, pulled me out of the film.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2017-11-22T15:31:10-05:00
Oh yeah, they could have done so much better than him. Come to think of it, HE could have done so much better, he could actually have been a pretty good Luther.
I still think they should have gotten Bryan Cranston to do Lex Luthor.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-11-22T15:32:43-05:00
@LZ: So I can count in you not being the kind of parent that will camp outside of a toy store, in the freezing cold just to punch out another adult to get to the hottest game? I'm not making this up when I say I remember seeing parents on the news fighting for a Cabbage Patch doll back in the day. I also remember a small family (mother, father, son) camping out about 10 years ago so they could get their hands on the latest game box. I had half a nerve to call CPS on grownups.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-11-22T15:44:13-05:00
I watched two DVDs this week.
The Mummy reboot and Transformers: The Last Knight. Words cannot express how bad both movies were. Tom Cruise needs to be drummed out of Hollywood for shutting down a whole monster universe that was going to happen but won't thanks to his meddling.
I don't know what to say about the Transformer one. How the heck do we start out in the first movie with Earth being introduced to these robots and in the 5th movie, Earth is Unicron?
Lord Zombitten 2017-11-22T15:59:34-05:00
Oh! If Bryan Cranston had been Luthor, I would not say a single negative thing about that movie. I wouldn't even make fun of how the thing that gets Bats to not kill Supes is that both their moms were named Martha!
...okay, I'd probably still complain about that because it's just that dumb. I could understand if both shared a strange name like Azinthroda, but MARTHA!? Come on!
Lord Zombitten 2017-11-22T16:03:45-05:00
Geist, you are certainly correct that I will never be one of those people. I also remember prople camping out for days to be the first to get one of those Tickle Me Elmo dolls, and that by the end, people were buying them for as much as $10k. If I were a parent at the time, and one of my kids wanted one, I'd have told them to wait a couple of months until it became affordable again. As I recall, that's all the time it took. People turn into beasts around this time of year, which is why I typically avoid shopping on BF. If I do go out, it's later in the day and to a store I know won't be crowded. I don't do well with crowds...
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-11-22T16:16:18-05:00
@LZ: 10 grand?! What the heck? I don't care how rich a person is, their kid doesn't need the toy that badly. If I had had kids, I would have told them they can get this toy in the summer. Teach the kid some patience.
I also believe in shopping for presents all year so that I can catch the sales and save money. I already have some of the surprise goodies that I'll be bringing to KC 3 and I got them on sale 75 to 90% off! Can't beat that with a bat!
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-11-22T16:29:42-05:00
@Geist, re: JL reviews, the positive comments I have gotten were from friends recommending it, so I take their opinion much more seriously than some overblown "movie critic" any day. ;)
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-11-22T16:31:10-05:00
@Zem, lol, yeah good ole cyber Monday... sheesh, you'd think they'd figure it out and just lower the prices by 5 - 10 % all the time, but I guess human psychology doesn't work that way... sigh. People, sigh. ;)
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-11-22T17:28:10-05:00
Ok kittens. Time to blow this popsicle stand.
To my American kittens: Happy Thanksgiving!
To my kittens outside the U.S.: enjoy work tomorrow. ;-)
True...now if only I could convince them to give me a raise(even though I am definitely leaving as soon as I find another job...) so that I can go on the trip my parents invited me on(Cook Islands starting the Family Day weekend, 2018 - for a week).
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-11-23T12:51:23-05:00
@GM, yeah I hear that... ;) That trip sounds super awesome, except for the parents part... ;p but, yeah, I get what you're saying. ;)
I would have my own room, and it would be a resort(can't remember which one), so I would still have my freedome.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-11-23T13:07:36-05:00
@GM, Honestly I'm sure it would be a great time! I'm just messing around bro! I actually think its great that you get along as well as you do with your parents. Not trying to be insulting, maybe just joking because jealousy. ;)
@BaKhan: More my dad I get along with than my mom...but it will definitely be a good trip as I've never been there, and it will be February when we go. So fairly cold here to begin with(if I can get more money/time off)
Also...we got back from lunch at like 2pm(reservation was for 11:30 -and I think I'm the only one who realized that the food, when ordering off the menu when we get there and not pre-ordering, would take longer than if you went with a group of 4-5...we were 21)
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-11-24T05:04:46-05:00
Morning kittens. Remember the baby momma I visited last week? She had a cold and I ended up getting it. It hit me like a freight train in the wee hours yesterday and I've been in bed since. I hate when my nose is so clogged up that I have to breathe with my mouth open so I wasn't getting much sleep. Didn't feel like eating anything either so ended up not cooking the dish I wanted to make for Thanksgiving. Feeling better now and thankful that I have a place of my own to recuperate in, food in the fridge and insurance so that if I needed to go to the hospital, it's (mostly) paid for.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-11-24T05:06:35-05:00
@GM: I looked at the Pig & Duke menu. Very nice! I haven't had frog legs in a loooong time. Will have to put that on my bucket list the next time I visit Calgary.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-11-24T10:08:42-05:00
Morning kittens!
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-11-24T10:09:27-05:00
@GM, yeah, 21 people put a hurtin on any kitchen! ;) Glad you guys got an extended break, on the bosses dime! ;) Congrats!
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-11-24T10:10:45-05:00
@Geist, yeah I can sympathize with that, I hate being sick the most! I hope you feel better and are able to get some sleep soon! Chicken noodle soup, stat! ;) I hope you still get a chance to go sheet shopping!
@BaKhan: I even saw the bill. $530 for it. And because people were super impatient, they were talking about trying to get a discount(hopefully they didn't since it does take longer to make sure everyone's food comes out at almost the same time)
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-11-24T10:33:16-05:00
@GM, that actually isn't too bad considering there was 21 of you guys! Thats only like $25 a person. I hope you enjoyed it! Trying to get a discount sure would have been upsetting though. I would feel so bad for the kitchen staff, busting their asses and then getting kicked in the junk... hope it didn't happen.
@BaKhan: Me too. And on the way back to the office, was talking with the HSE coordinator, and she said I was "too nice" for saying that it wasn't the pubs fault, but the fault of what people ordered. Considering how many different items there were(ranging from a veggie platter for the vegetarian IT manager to a meat loaf that is wrapped in bacon to burgers/sandwiches), it makes sense that it would take time...especially since the whole place was PACKED.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-11-24T11:01:15-05:00
@GM, I have never worked in a restaurant, but I know what its like to be super busy and unappreciated. I can definitely sympathize with what a kitchen staff would go through. I think people draw false equivalencies and therefore have less respect for those jobs that they don't understand. "There's no way that they work as hard as I do". Walk a mile in their shoes right?
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-11-24T11:11:11-05:00
Woohoo! The cold broke! Feeling much better today. Secured the sheets and am on my way to the movies.
I have worked in restaurants. Front and back of the house. It's a tough job. Some folks act like servers need to treat them like the king/queen of England just because they sat down to eat. I once tipped a waitress who wasn't working my table but had a customer leave without tipping. Pissed me off.
It's funny though, the one that first mentioned trying to get a discount apparently had been a waitress before...and she is now an accounting manager(who can't handle the stress of the job and it leaving the company because "it's not you, it's me" - her EXACT words!)
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-11-24T11:16:33-05:00
@Geist, thats great! Congrats on the sheets, Egyptian cotton I hope! ;) I hope you enjoy your movie! Totally jelly, I would love to be going to a movie right now... ;)
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-11-24T11:18:55-05:00
@GM, that just sound like licencing to me. It happened to me, ergo its ok, and even right that it happen to you... sigh. Why is it that we can't want better for others than that which we have suffered ourselves? I'm just as guilty as anyone else of that, I know, but it just seems so contrary to living in societies as we do. Ok, I'm not going to get down on this right now, too much stuff to do!
After calculating what I make an hour here where I currently worked, into the 35 hour work week that the CBE is advertising, I am earning over $5,000 less than what they are paying the lowest paid of those three.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-11-24T13:35:14-05:00
@GM, I certainly hope it works out for you, but you should definitely keep you eyes peeled for other opportunities till you get that interview. Never hurts to have multiple back up plans! ;)
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2017-11-24T21:33:06-05:00
What a wonderful end to a wonderful season. I'm talking about the Huskers, and that's all sarcasm. The stadium was almost empty before the end of the game today because it was that exciting.
Thankfully, Thanksgiving was great, though. Tons of family and friends.
`
How's life on the Canadian side?
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2017-11-24T21:37:38-05:00
Well, I guess life is probably pretty great now that it's the weekend! I'll have to ask again on Monday, but I think I'll know the answer then. ;)
Rafael Susigan 2017-11-26T21:45:17-05:00
Where i Know if already shiped!?
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2017-11-27T09:41:44-05:00
Wait... really? Rafael, did you ask that on the Kickstarter you wanted to? Because Exploding Kittens ended like 2 1/2 years ago. If you haven't gotten this game, you really should email support@explodingkittens.com or should have done that a year and a half ago.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-11-27T10:13:17-05:00
Morning kittens!
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-11-27T10:15:23-05:00
@Zem, sorry that your football season ended poorly, hopefully they do better next year! Glad you had a good time with family and friends, to me, thats what Thanksgiving is all about!
Morning, all. I was woken up this morning in one of the worst ways. It was a phone call from my dad, letting me know that my grandpa passed away last night
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2017-11-27T11:22:03-05:00
@LZ, I'm so sorry to hear that! That is a very rough way to start your day/week, especially sad as the holidays are rapidly approaching. Both of my grandparents on my fathers side passed around Christmas as well, one year apart from each other. I wish you peace and wellness for your family, and hope that this time of sadness brings you all together to share the stories and loving memories of your Grandfather.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-11-27T11:24:48-05:00
Morning kittens!
Saw Justice League and Murder on the Orient Express. The only thing about JL that I enjoyed was watching Ezra Miller (who plays The Flash). Men shouldn't be that beautiful. Spoiler Alert. I'm the only female on the planet who doesn't find Jason Moama hot. I'd love to have him as my drinking buddy though.
Murder on the Orient Express was OK even though the plot was convoluted as all get out.
@LZ: Sorry to hear that. Definitely one of the worst ways to wake up.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2017-11-27T11:33:42-05:00
@LZ: You have my condolences. I hope he passed away peacefully.
Lord Zombitten 2017-11-27T11:46:34-05:00
Thanks, guys. I think he did. He's been at an assisted living facility for several months. They said that he was doing fine when they checked on him at 10 last night. When they checked on him thirty minutes later, he had passed. Given the lateness of the hour, I'm pretty sure he died in his sleep.
You know...I never realized how eclectic my music tastes were until I decided to throw my iPod on 100% shuffle, not just a single band at a time. Went from an instrumental version of a Nightwish song to Pearl Jam to All That Remains...wonder what it will be next.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2017-11-27T14:37:58-05:00
Don't worry about the football, BaKhan, I'm not too invested, and honestly it was kind of comedic how bad we were that game. They sent their cheerleaders out on the field and we still couldn't hold them back! ;)
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2017-11-27T14:41:24-05:00
LZ, sorry to hear about that, that's always hard news, especially to wake up to on a monday morning. It's good to hear he was doing fine and it was peaceful and in his sleep, though. Since it's near the holidays, though, you'll be able to see family soon and be able to talk with them about it, too, which is always helpful.
Get a good glow going with the hard stuff, and keep it there with the beers... ah to be a teenager again, but then again, drama, so no! ;)
Also, Morning Kittens!
Morning kittens.
@Geist, those are all great things to be thankful for!
I'm also grateful that I haven't eaten all of my BMB yet. Putting it in the freezer so that I don't notice it helps.
I really hope I get one of the jobs I'm applying for today...all three are with the CBE(Calgary Board of Education) doing payroll. All three are 35 hours a week. And all three pay the same, or more, than what I get now...to start.
@GM, best of luck! I'm crossing my fingers for you! You deserve this!
@GM: Good luck my friend! I know you'll get an offer from all of them. That is how good you are!
@LZ, Thanks! T3's are Tylenol 3, with codeine. Its a pretty strong prescription pain killer. Stronger than anything off the shelf, not as strong as say morphine.
He didn't present this to her until last week. When she refused to sign, he told her to be out by last Sunday, or she'd be in contempt.
@LZ, uh, he knows that indentured servitude is illegal nowadays right? Who in their right mind would ever sign something like that? Curfew, really? Maybe its time the ex-bro learned about the sharp end of a fencing foil? ;)
@BaKhan, I see. Those seem to have a different name for each region. Here, they're called Lortab, other places call them Vicodin
Oh, I wish I could speak to him in the languages of violence and brutality! It would be so cathartic!
GM, wow, that sounds awesome! And not to mention probably less than half the BS you have to put up with now! Heck, with how much you've had to do, you could probably do 2 of those jobs and it would feel like nothing changed!
@LZ, and simpler... ;) I feel bad for your sister, how can ass hats like that even still exist in this day in age? Hope it all works out!
Geist, that would have been fantastic! Instead, she got all her stuff out and locked the keys in the house.
LZ, yeah, the best thing to do is just to distance yourselves and have no contact with that guy if possible. Though it probably isn't.
Ooh, stewed pears? I've never even heard of that, but it sounds delicious!
@LZ: I like your sister's idea. Especially if there isn't a second set of keys. He will either have to break in (I hope she set the alarm so that the police shows up) and pay for the broken window or call a locksmith who will charge him by the hour.
I don't know if he had a set of keys. I know she changed the locks after she kicked him out. I joked about leaving him a "stool" in the corner. What did happen, though, is my sister found two dead mice in the crawlspace under the house. My sister left them there.
Morning kittens.
Morning kittens!
@LZ, the more I think of it, the more revenge stuff I keep thinking of! ;) How about dumping some sardine or oyster "juice" down the air vents... its like the stinky gift that keeps on giving! Every time that oil heats up, another "treat"... ;)
Morning kittens! The day before Turkey Day and I'm at the office. In fact, I'm surprised by the number of people that showed up today. Don't they have a life? I know that I don't so that is my excuse.
@BaKhan: your idea wins!
Two gallons of anything is quite a commitment! ;)
BaKhan, and ironically it's dying out a bit here because of Cyber Monday. So I guess don't worry, CM will overthrow BF soon!
@BaKhan: JL is getting some really rough reviews down here. I'm seeing this curiosity's sake. And a favorite actor has an un-credited part so I'm hoping to see him on the big screen.
I think the biggest casting mistake in BvS was Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. His performance, more than anything else, pulled me out of the film.
Oh yeah, they could have done so much better than him. Come to think of it, HE could have done so much better, he could actually have been a pretty good Luther.
I still think they should have gotten Bryan Cranston to do Lex Luthor.
Come on!
@Geist, re: JL reviews, the positive comments I have gotten were from friends recommending it, so I take their opinion much more seriously than some overblown "movie critic" any day. ;)
@Zem, lol, yeah good ole cyber Monday... sheesh, you'd think they'd figure it out and just lower the prices by 5 - 10 % all the time, but I guess human psychology doesn't work that way... sigh. People, sigh. ;)
Ok kittens. Time to blow this popsicle stand.
To my American kittens: Happy Thanksgiving!
To my kittens outside the U.S.: enjoy work tomorrow. ;-)
Morning kittens!
Happy Thanksgiving to all my American Kittens!
Morning kittens.
Happy Turkey-Bird Day to all of you to the South. And happy almost Friday to BaKhan.
@GM, and a happy gettin' close to Friday to you too sir!
So far, the only good thing about today is that we are all going out to the Pig and Duke for lunch(on the companies dime!)
@GM, well, a free lunch is pretty good imo. Congrats! I know it doesn't make up for the bs, but its better than another kick in the teeth, right? ;)
True...now if only I could convince them to give me a raise(even though I am definitely leaving as soon as I find another job...) so that I can go on the trip my parents invited me on(Cook Islands starting the Family Day weekend, 2018 - for a week).
@GM, yeah I hear that... ;) That trip sounds super awesome, except for the parents part... ;p but, yeah, I get what you're saying. ;)
I would have my own room, and it would be a resort(can't remember which one), so I would still have my freedome.
So fairly cold here to begin with(if I can get more money/time off)
Also...we got back from lunch at like 2pm(reservation was for 11:30 -and I think I'm the only one who realized that the food, when ordering off the menu when we get there and not pre-ordering, would take longer than if you went with a group of 4-5...we were 21)
Morning kittens.
@GM: I looked at the Pig & Duke menu. Very nice! I haven't had frog legs in a loooong time. Will have to put that on my bucket list the next time I visit Calgary.
Morning kittens!
@GM, yeah, 21 people put a hurtin on any kitchen! ;) Glad you guys got an extended break, on the bosses dime! ;) Congrats!
@Geist, yeah I can sympathize with that, I hate being sick the most! I hope you feel better and are able to get some sleep soon! Chicken noodle soup, stat! ;) I hope you still get a chance to go sheet shopping!
Morning kittens.
@BaKhan: I even saw the bill. $530 for it. And because people were super impatient, they were talking about trying to get a discount(hopefully they didn't since it does take longer to make sure everyone's food comes out at almost the same time)
@GM, that actually isn't too bad considering there was 21 of you guys!
@Geist, thats great! Congrats on the sheets, Egyptian cotton I hope! ;) I hope you enjoy your movie! Totally jelly, I would love to be going to a movie right now... ;)
So far today...I have applied to those three jobs with the CBE...and not much else. >.>
@GM, so glad that you applied! Best of luck bro!
After calculating what I make an hour here where I currently worked, into the 35 hour work week that the CBE is advertising, I am earning over $5,000 less than what they are paying the lowest paid of those three.
@GM, I certainly hope it works out for you, but you should definitely keep you eyes peeled for other opportunities till you get that interview. Never hurts to have multiple back up plans! ;)
Well, I guess life is probably pretty great now that it's the weekend! I'll have to ask again on Monday, but I think I'll know the answer then. ;)

Wait... really? Rafael, did you ask that on the Kickstarter you wanted to? Because Exploding Kittens ended like 2 1/2 years ago. If you haven't gotten this game, you really should email support@explodingkittens.com or should have done that a year and a half ago.
Morning kittens!
@Zem, sorry that your football season ended poorly, hopefully they do better next year! Glad you had a good time with family and friends, to me, thats what Thanksgiving is all about!
Morning kittens.
Morning, all. I was woken up this morning in one of the worst ways. It was a phone call from my dad, letting me know that my grandpa passed away last night
@LZ: You have my condolences. I hope he passed away peacefully.
Don't worry about the football, BaKhan, I'm not too invested, and honestly it was kind of comedic how bad we were that game. They sent their cheerleaders out on the field and we still couldn't hold them back! ;)
