@LZ, I hope you get that migraine under control. My wife suffers terribly from them (Calgary has very brutal pressure changes due to our proximity to the mountains), so I'm familiar with them. Best of luck with that. As far as the other end goes, thats some scary stuff! Hopefully they can get whatever it is fixed without too much scar tissue. I've got a buddy with crones and its the scar tissue that causes him the most issues. Again, best of luck brother.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-01T16:15:09-04:00
@LZ: as much as I hate headaches, you have my sympathies for dealing with migraines. I really hope the medicine works for you. I can't imagine having one of those. I think the closest I got was the worse hangover I got from drinking too many G&Ts one night years ago.
Why are you taking a steroid cream?
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-01T16:28:14-04:00
My tummy is feeling better thanks to some ginger ale. I'm going to stop by the store and pick up some saltines. That should make me feel better.
Lord Zombitten 2018-06-01T18:48:44-04:00
Geist, I was using steroid cream because my insurance wouldn't cover steroid suppositories. The doc was hoping that it would stop the post-BM bleeding
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-04T10:09:01-04:00
Morning kittens.
Why in the world is it so cold outside that I could wear my winter coat and not feel uncomfortable? Isn't this suppose to be Spring?
Man, am I beat. I dunno about working a double shift on the weekends anymore. My body feels so exhausted. The only good thing is that I was able to log into the wifi of the 2nd pt job and apply for a full time job. The internet gave out after midnight but I thought that was because of the storm that was sweeping through the city.
@Geist: Hopefully you find something soon....and hopefully I do too. It's too early in the day/week to be this done with this shit(when one of the accounts receivable girls got in, I mentioned how it's too early to be needing a bottle of whiskey in the drawer).
Lord Zombitten 2018-06-04T11:36:14-04:00
Morning, all. Is it naptime yet?
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-04T11:55:03-04:00
@LZ: I could so use a nap right now. There is a woman's room on the top floor of the building that not many people use. It has a separate area that has a couch, table and chairs. I like to go up there sometime and sleep. About the only good thing about this job.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2018-06-04T12:16:58-04:00
Wow, Geist, back down into the 50s there? That's pretty crazy for June!
`
Huh, everyone has something making their day harder today. For me, it was that I couldn't sleep until 2-3am, and it didn't help that after 1am, someone in the room above mine was playing music so loudly I could almost make out the words.
Lord Zombitten 2018-06-04T12:28:09-04:00
Zem, the only thing making today harder for me is that I couldn't sleep last night. Jess and I finished the first season of The Good Doctor, and found the news of the last two episodes to be unsettling.... They hit just a little too close to home. As we talked about them, I mentioned that I'm nervous about the brain scan I have on the 14th of this month because of the increase in headaches and the increase in pinpoint flashes of light I've been experiencing.
In the end, there's not much point in stressing about it, though. It's not like I can personally do anything about it. All I can do is hope and pray for the best.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-04T14:03:37-04:00
@LZ, oh jeez, I can only imagine brother. I hope that everything goes well for you, and that the headaches and other effects are unrelated and also just go away. Wishing you all the best!
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-05T09:12:41-04:00
Morning kittens.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-05T09:44:30-04:00
Morning kittens.
I thought yesterday was going to be real chill since my supervisor is on vacay. Nope. Turns out there were lots of invoices that got overlooked before she left that I had to process in order to get them into the system for this week's check run. The main part of my job in AP is chasing after other people to get them to give me what I need to pay the company bills before we have fines or cut offs. It's also the main reason why I'm looking to leave it.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-05T09:48:18-04:00
@LZ: I'm sorry that you are experiencing the migraines again. Fingers crossed that you won't have anything major to deal with when you get the scan. I'm still hoping you get to come to Kitten Con one day. It would be great for you, BaKhan and me to throw down in the kitchen together.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-05T10:10:00-04:00
@Geist, I sure hope that you are able to find something more fulfilling and even rewarding for work! Also throwing down with LZ and yourself in my kitchen sounds like some sort of a dream! I can only imagine the tasty chaos we could come up with!
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2018-06-05T10:14:57-04:00
LZ, don't be too worried, you're alot tougher than this stuff, you already beat it back once already!
I'm just hoping you don't have to go back through the same treatments as last time, that stuff didn't sound fun enough to want to go for round 2. You're in all of our thoughts and prayers!
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-05T10:27:22-04:00
@BaKhan: How about I come up on October 24th? It would give me more time to help out with the party stuff. I found a flight that would put me in Calgary around 1:30 pm. If that is too early, let me know and I'll pay around with the dates some more.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-05T10:44:43-04:00
@Geist, lol, why not just come up on the 1st, and just, you know, stay? ;) Honestly, whatever works best for you! Anytime we get to spend with you is awesome!
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-05T11:42:51-04:00
@BaKhan: Tempting as that would be, you'd get tired of me by the 2nd week. :-P Just trying to help take some of the stress off of cooking and preparing all of those goodies. Maybe this year you will use some of the cookie cutters I bought up last year.
@BaKhan: I could always help with some of the prep if you need.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-05T12:10:25-04:00
@Geist, I have every intention of using those cookie cutters! There was the skeletal man, and the zombie hand, was there another one too? I actually get in trouble from Misty's sister if I don't use the sugar skull ones she got me as well... ;) Can a person have too many cookies? Also, get tired of you, never! Now, you getting tired of me... well that I could see! ;)
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-05T12:11:11-04:00
@GM, your help, and company are always appreciated my friend! Of course I would love to press you into servi... I mean hang out! ;)
Lord Zombitten 2018-06-05T12:19:16-04:00
You guys crack me up, and are always good for a mood boost. Thanks.
In other news, I went to the dentist yesterday because it felt like they missed the cavity when doing some filling work. They looked at my teeth and explained that the cavity was in tooth #2, and what I was feeling (and they had missed on the initial exam) was a separation of the filling from the tooth on tooth #3. Long story short: I came away from that with a temporary crown. I've never had a crown before. Maybe I should start calling myself the king...
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2018-06-05T12:23:10-04:00
LZ, have tiny diamonds implanted on it. Then nobody could deny your sovereignty.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-05T12:29:15-04:00
Any who would challange LZ's sovereignty would first have to face my blade! All hail Lord Zombitten! (or else)
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-05T12:34:01-04:00
@LZ: I was suppose to get a crown years ago for a cavity in one of the teeth way back in my mouth. Even with insurance it was going to be expensive so I never got it done. Today I have a temporary filling. It will have to do for now.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-05T12:34:39-04:00
Zombitten for President? I'd vote for him over what we have right now.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-05T12:36:01-04:00
Did you guys know that profiles are private until you change the settings? I wonder why they did that.
@Geist: It's probably so that people can't stalk others. I have a feeling, since a lot of people put their picture up, that it might be why. Or stalk them to argue with them in other campaigns that they back.
@BaKhan: Just let me know what I can do to help, I can always start working on some of it and then bring it over around the party time so that it's all ready.
I never get the bug stuff tbh. I mean, post apocalypse and no options, yep I'm eating bugs. Other than that, just why? I mean I get the shock / cool factor, like CB and his zebra tarantulas... but for actual enjoyment? Well, meh, to each their own I guess. I'd prefer my grilled cheese sans crickets thanks... ;)
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-05T14:29:21-04:00
@GM, well seeing as how you are now a seasoned veteran, if you could think of anything that you think we might need, or that you'd like to have, by all means!
@BaKhan: I agree about the bugs...and prairie oysters...but some of the other stuff sounded really good. Especially the pop rocks mini doughnuts.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-05T14:56:10-04:00
@GM, yeah, those pop rocks ones actually look pretty good, couldn't eat too many of them due to sweetness, so really a bonus right? ;) I honestly doubt I'm going this year though. Broke, and cowboy meh... ;)
@BaKhan: Yeah, I'm not going either...unless someone else is paying my way. And even then, only for the food.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2018-06-05T15:56:45-04:00
I've got a compromise: you guys pay for me, and I'll go for both of you!
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-05T16:00:43-04:00
Criket grilled cheese and caramel apples? No. Hell no. Oh hell no! Nothing buggy will I eat. I'd sooner eat the goat's head soup than that. And the kangaroo burger.
Why in the heck are the prairie oyster balls topped with a blueberry compote? That is just gross! I'd sooner eat the chicken hearts since that is something my grandmother and mother use to eat.
I think I can make the Wat-A-Melon at home.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2018-06-05T16:01:25-04:00
Hey, that ice cream chimney cone is just a trdelnik! What a ripoff.
Though not really, those are one of my favorite snacks! I ate like 2 or 3 while I was in Prague earlier this year, one with the inside coated with nutella, one filled with ice cream like that! I think they're from Hungary or something, but they're everywhere east of Germany.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-05T16:02:53-04:00
Also, if this is something that happens every year, I will have to put this on my bucket list. This looks so awesome.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-05T16:05:22-04:00
Wait, how is this Bibimbap Poutine a pountine when there are no fries, cheese curds or gravy?
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-05T16:06:13-04:00
@Zem, you know what, if you make it up here, for stampede I'm sure that GM and I would both be happy to cover your entrance fee (the first time!). ;)
@Geist: It's an annual thing that runs 10 days straight from the first Friday in July. Sometimes the second Friday, but 99.99999999~% of the time it's the first Friday.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-05T16:15:10-04:00
@Geist, aside from the '88 winter Olympics, stampede is the biggest out door show on earth, in Calgary anyways... It is every year, and pulls out all the concrete/dime store cowboys. Sadly, I even have a black cowboy hat and hella uncomfortable boots... from a misspent youth. ;) https://www.travelalberta.com/us/events/calgary-stampede-814/…
@BaKhan: I have the hat...haven't worn it in YEARS(basically haven't worn it since the day I bought it...)
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-05T16:26:26-04:00
@GM, I'm honestly not sure where mine is now, a skull used to wear it at my old house... Haven't seen it since we moved. I'm not much of a cowboy tbh, unless there's lots of whiskey... ;)
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-05T16:28:22-04:00
@BaKhan: then I will have to see where I am financially next year. I would love to visit this festival.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-05T17:01:01-04:00
@Geist, we'd love to have you anytime you want to come up. The first time you go to Stampede is definitely the best. We'll have to see where you're at next year, and see what free concerts there are that day. It'd also be fun to go down town and wander the streets having pancake breakfast... ;)
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2018-06-05T17:48:37-04:00
GM, wow, how many of this event have there been for it to have that small of a margin of error?! ;)
Lord Zombitten 2018-06-05T17:56:56-04:00
This stampede thing does sound like a blast. It's too late this year, but I'll talk to Jess and see if she wants to go next year
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-05T19:04:37-04:00
@LZ: it would be so good if we could all get together on this. Just think of the mischief we could get up to.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-06T07:15:16-04:00
Morning kittens.
Supervisor is back from vacay so I might be a little silent today as I have tons of work on my desk.
I've decided to drop one of the weekend gigs. My body just can't getting so little sleep. I was able to do it years ago when I was working as a CNA but that job required that I stand up and move. I would still make enough money to stay afloat and tackle my debt if I kept the newer pt gig. Plus, I would have more of my personal life back. I don't want to blink and find another 5 years of my life is gone with nothing to show for it but that I got older. I did that before and it's not fun at all.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-06T09:10:27-04:00
Morning kittens.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-06T09:10:51-04:00
@GM, but of course good sir, although, I would think you'd hear about it here first! ;)
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-06T09:12:36-04:00
@LZ, it is one of Calgary's biggest tourist attractions, aside from the mountains... ;) Also, I would love to have you guys come up here! Summer in Calgary is much much nicer than fall, thats for sure. ;)
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-06T09:13:30-04:00
@Geist, you need to do whats right for you! All work and no play makes Geist a dull girl! And you are anything but dull dear! ;)
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-06T10:26:11-04:00
@BaKhan: I don't know about that. Every time I come up for Halloween, the weather as been great!
Lord Zombitten 2018-06-06T10:27:08-04:00
Welp, I've ordered a proof of my first novel. Here's hoping that everything looks good and that it does well!
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-06T11:07:35-04:00
@Geist, thats special, just for you! Actually over the last many years it has gotten much warmer that time of year. I can remember when I was a kid, our costumes had to be sized to fit over a winter coat. I can remember one halloween it was so cold (-40) that we only did our block. So yeah, lets just keep our fingers crossed its nice again this year!
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-06T11:08:10-04:00
@LZ, that is so awesome bro! I knew you were working on it, didn't realize you were so close! How do we get a copy?
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-06T11:14:24-04:00
@LZ: Woohoo! I'm hoping that it does well as well. Can I get an autographed copy? :-D
Lord Zombitten 2018-06-06T12:44:33-04:00
I'll post a link when it goes live. For autographed copies, I'll have you pay me via PayPal and purchase it, sign it, and send it your way
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-06T12:49:49-04:00
@LZ, can't wait for that notification!
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-06T13:15:12-04:00
@LZ: To quote from The Princess Bride, "This isn't a kissing book, is it?"
Lord Zombitten 2018-06-06T15:25:55-04:00
Geist, not really. There are only a couple of times when anybody kisses.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2018-06-06T16:00:58-04:00
Sorry I haven't really checked here much today, the internet has been almost painfully slow today. It really hasn't even been worth attempting to refresh this page.
`
LZ, that's awesome! I had no clue you were done, that's huge!
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2018-06-06T17:09:15-04:00
Oh my God. Imagine slamming your head against a desk randomly every 3-20 minutes and then staring blankly at a wall for a good 5 minutes and you'll know exactly how my internet is today, when it's actually working.
I can't wait until I get home now if only because the internet there is reliable. At the university, it's reliable AND somewhat fast, a veritable luxury!
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-07T08:09:02-04:00
Morning kittens.
@LZ: I was just wondering what kind of book you had written. I read most any kind of fiction except romance novels and westerns.
Last year I was hanging out with a lady I met in one of my meetups. She asked me if I read romance novels. I told her no and I don't watch chick flicks either. "Well no wonder you don't have a husband" she replied. I won't go into the retort I gave her. Do guys really need women to be into that kind of stuff?
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-07T09:17:23-04:00
Morning kittens.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-07T09:22:11-04:00
@Geist, thats a big nope on that one. But there is no one type of person that "guys" want. Guys, much like ladies, come in all shapes and sizes, and likes and dislikes. Stereotypical people are drawn to each other perhaps, whilst every other type of person has their own individual likes and dislikes. Generalities are great, until you start trying to apply them to actual people. The you, who you are, is amazing, its just that you either haven't met the right person yet, or are not yet in that place to meet them. Trust me, lack of romance novels has nothing do do with not having a husband. I actually think that books like that give many the wrong idea about love, imo.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-07T10:01:12-04:00
@BaKhan: I like most other movies. Action and sci-fi especially. Gets my blood pumping if it's a good movie. For this woman to assume that men won't like me if I don't go see chick flicks made no sense to me. You can be feminine and not be into all of the girly stuff.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-07T10:07:51-04:00
@Geist, exactly! You could be feminine whilst chomping on a cigar, sipping wiskey and holding a double barrel shotgun, should you so choose! I actually look at those who get sucked into those romance books, as a bit sad, like a drug addict, they're chasing the romance dragon, tbh. I mean, like what you like, but don't assume that because someone else doesn't like it, it makes them less desirable.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2018-06-07T10:21:17-04:00
"You could be feminine whilst chomping on a cigar, sipping wiskey and holding a double barrel shotgun, should you so choose!"
Haha, that's pretty funny, seeing as I live about on the border of where american Western and Southern culture become full lifestyles, and trust me, there are absolutely women like that, and hardly any less "ladylike" for it!
Heck, even in the midwest, back when my grandmother was a young adult, it was pretty dang common for women to hunt as well, so the shotgun bit is especially true. Typically, in fact, women are somehow better shots.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-07T10:59:37-04:00
@Zem, thats what I'm saying. Don't worry about conforming to someone else's idea of what feminine (or anything else) is, you do you, however you do it! No one else can tell you how to be yourself! ;)
Lord Zombitten 2018-06-07T11:55:31-04:00
I wrote a fantasy novel. There are more horror elements to it than romance.
I'm with BaKhan on this one. I'm super glad Jess isn't interested in romance novels. The ones I've seen because I knew a girl in high school who loved them were porn in print.
Jess does like chick flicks, and I wish she didn't. The sappy ones set an impossible standard, and the rom-coms are probably the most toxic films that aren't rated X. They tend to only show the 'puppy love' stage of relationships. In them, any tension in the relationship at all is shown as the relationship falling apart. The reality is that the puppy love stage doesn't last very long, and disagreements happen. If handled correctly, they are healthy because they help the people involved get to know each other better, and they strengthen the relationship. If they're not handled correctly, though....
Lord Zombitten 2018-06-07T12:02:23-04:00
If I remember correctly, this is what the back cover says:
"Several years after a demon prince is summoned to the terrestrial world, a secret society of necromancers discover that the artifacts of their legends are real. As they search for these artifacts, their enemies gather to fight against them to prevent them from taking over the world. All the while, neither side knows about the demon prince, who is still at large, manipulating people and events to stir up trouble in a city that holds a dark secret."
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-07T13:10:36-04:00
@LZ: I was rather insulted when the woman said this to me. In my experience, lots of guys would rather cut off their arm than be dragged to a chick flick and be glad if his date would rather see an action/super hero/sci-fi/horror flick. Don't get me wrong. I love romantic gestures. I just don't like watching sappy crap on the screen. You will never catch me watching "The Notebook".
I saw the movie Love Actually and enjoyed it because it had more than enough humor to carry the movie. Same with The Big Sick. That movie had my jaw on the floor, it was so funny.
Lord Zombitten 2018-06-07T13:34:48-04:00
I bet. That was a ridiculous and horrible thing to say
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2018-06-07T13:43:07-04:00
The Princess Bride is really the only rom-com I've ever liked.
It may be a kissing book, but it's so much more at the same time.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2018-06-07T14:28:17-04:00
Bringing up that movie may have been a bad idea, I just have that theme from Princess Bride in my head now! You know, that guitar piece they keep playing throughout it.
Ah, it's called "Storybook Love". That one. You know already.
Lord Zombitten 2018-06-07T14:33:51-04:00
I like that song
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-07T14:46:07-04:00
That movie is definitely one of my all time favourites, it just never gets old for me! ;) To me it wasn't a rom-com so much as a comedy adventure, with some kissing... ;) Plus Andre the Giant... enough said!
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2018-06-07T15:11:57-04:00
Dang it, Hugarian Rhapsody no. 2 finally got in my head when I wasn't looking, and that's a really fun one to have bouncing around in there, and I come back to check this unknowingly and Storybook Love is just like, "Hey, remember me?!"
I mean, it's a great song, and not bad to have stuck in you head, but man, is that song clingy! It just can't take no for an answer and leave you alone!
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2018-06-07T15:13:24-04:00
BaKhan, I remember the day I had the sudden major realization that Princess Bride is really basically a rom-com... and it didn't change my opinion on it one bit! In fact, I just wanted to go back and watch it again because I was thinking about it!
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-07T15:33:12-04:00
The Princess Bride is another good example. So many funny moments and quotable lines in that movie.
Lord Zombitten 2018-06-07T16:02:58-04:00
I don't know that I'd say it's a rom-com. It's more a spoof on classic epic stories, which is what William Goldman intended when he wrote the book
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2018-06-07T18:16:56-04:00
True, but the movie tries quite a bit more to be a sort of chick-flick, so it kind of counts. Just funny to think that one of the most famous cult classics of all time is in essence a slight form of rom-com. It's in the least a romance and very comical. Even though I've never known another rom-com with so much action. Pirates, giants, poison, swordfights... I wish all rom-com-esques were spoofs of fantasies and epics like that, or even at least 1/10th as quotable!
Lord Zombitten 2018-06-07T18:40:51-04:00
IN-deed!
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-08T07:38:06-04:00
Morning kittens!
This weekend I'll decide what day I'm going to tell the 1st part time gig that I quit. I was hoping to make it to the end of the month but that might not happen because I was really hurting from lack of sleep last weekend. I could make my last day June 23rd and have Sunday to catch on sleep. I'm not really missing all that much money if I skip a day and the 2nd part time gig keeps calling me to see if I would work extra hours. I think I'd rather help them out since I would get direct deposit and it's not every weekend.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2018-06-08T08:24:16-04:00
Wow. Just found out that Anthony Bourdain has passed away from apparent suicide. I'm was shocked when I read it in my news feed. I really liked this guy. He seemed so confident and had a wry sense of humor. I will miss him and hope he found the peace he couldn't find in life.
Rod "BaKhan" Mitchell 2018-06-08T09:28:21-04:00

Damn. Double damn. Gonna miss that guy.

Anthony Bourdain? Wow, I had no clue, that's surprising and terrible!
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2018-06-08T10:53:45-04:00
By the way, what's up with Creeper? Busy as always, I'm sure, but anyone talked with her recently? She hasn't been on here in a LONG time!
My tummy is feeling better thanks to some ginger ale. I'm going to stop by the store and pick up some saltines. That should make me feel better.
Geist, I was using steroid cream because my insurance wouldn't cover steroid suppositories. The doc was hoping that it would stop the post-BM bleeding

Morning, all. Is it naptime yet?
@LZ: I could so use a nap right now. There is a woman's room on the top floor of the building that not many people use. It has a separate area that has a couch, table and chairs. I like to go up there sometime and sleep. About the only good thing about this job.
@LZ, oh jeez, I can only imagine brother. I hope that everything goes well for you, and that the headaches and other effects are unrelated and also just go away. Wishing you all the best!
Morning kittens.
@LZ: I'm sorry that you are experiencing the migraines again. Fingers crossed that you won't have anything major to deal with when you get the scan. I'm still hoping you get to come to Kitten Con one day. It would be great for you, BaKhan and me to throw down in the kitchen together.
@Geist, I sure hope that you are able to find something more fulfilling and even rewarding for work! Also throwing down with LZ and yourself in my kitchen sounds like some sort of a dream! I can only imagine the tasty chaos we could come up with!
LZ, don't be too worried, you're alot tougher than this stuff, you already beat it back once already!
I'm just hoping you don't have to go back through the same treatments as last time, that stuff didn't sound fun enough to want to go for round 2. You're in all of our thoughts and prayers!
@BaKhan: How about I come up on October 24th? It would give me more time to help out with the party stuff. I found a flight that would put me in Calgary around 1:30 pm. If that is too early, let me know and I'll pay around with the dates some more.
@Geist, lol, why not just come up on the 1st, and just, you know, stay? ;) Honestly, whatever works best for you! Anytime we get to spend with you is awesome!
Now, you getting tired of me... well that I could see! ;)
@GM, your help, and company are always appreciated my friend! Of course I would love to press you into servi... I mean hang out! ;)
LZ, have tiny diamonds implanted on it. Then nobody could deny your sovereignty.
Any who would challange LZ's sovereignty would first have to face my blade! All hail Lord Zombitten! (or else)
@LZ: I was suppose to get a crown years ago for a cavity in one of the teeth way back in my mouth. Even with insurance it was going to be expensive so I never got it done. Today I have a temporary filling. It will have to do for now.
Zombitten for President? I'd vote for him over what we have right now.
Well...some interesting sounding new items at this years stampede.
http://www.msn.com/en-ca/foodanddrink/foodnews/calgary-stampede-2018-new-food-to-hit-the-midway/ar-AAyfBte…
I never get the bug stuff tbh. I mean, post apocalypse and no options, yep I'm eating bugs. Other than that, just why? I mean I get the shock / cool factor, like CB and his zebra tarantulas... but for actual enjoyment? Well, meh, to each their own I guess. I'd prefer my grilled cheese sans crickets thanks... ;)
I've got a compromise: you guys pay for me, and I'll go for both of you!
Also, if this is something that happens every year, I will have to put this on my bucket list. This looks so awesome.
Wait, how is this Bibimbap Poutine a pountine when there are no fries, cheese curds or gravy?
@Zem, you know what, if you make it up here, for stampede I'm sure that GM and I would both be happy to cover your entrance fee (the first time!). ;)
@Geist: It's an annual thing that runs 10 days straight from the first Friday in July. Sometimes the second Friday, but 99.99999999~% of the time it's the first Friday.
@GM, I'm honestly not sure where mine is now, a skull used to wear it at my old house... Haven't seen it since we moved. I'm not much of a cowboy tbh, unless there's lots of whiskey... ;)
@BaKhan: then I will have to see where I am financially next year. I would love to visit this festival.
@Geist, we'd love to have you anytime you want to come up. The first time you go to Stampede is definitely the best. We'll have to see where you're at next year, and see what free concerts there are that day. It'd also be fun to go down town and wander the streets having pancake breakfast... ;)
Count me in when this happens.
GM, wow, how many of this event have there been for it to have that small of a margin of error?! ;)
This stampede thing does sound like a blast. It's too late this year, but I'll talk to Jess and see if she wants to go next year
@LZ: it would be so good if we could all get together on this. Just think of the mischief we could get up to.
Morning kittens.
@GM, but of course good sir, although, I would think you'd hear about it here first! ;)
@LZ, it is one of Calgary's biggest tourist attractions, aside from the mountains... ;) Also, I would love to have you guys come up here! Summer in Calgary is much much nicer than fall, thats for sure. ;)
@Geist, you need to do whats right for you! All work and no play makes Geist a dull girl! And you are anything but dull dear! ;)
Morning kittens.
@BaKhan: I don't know about that. Every time I come up for Halloween, the weather as been great!
Welp, I've ordered a proof of my first novel. Here's hoping that everything looks good and that it does well!
@LZ, that is so awesome bro! I knew you were working on it, didn't realize you were so close! How do we get a copy?
@LZ: Woohoo! I'm hoping that it does well as well. Can I get an autographed copy? :-D
I'll post a link when it goes live. For autographed copies, I'll have you pay me via PayPal and purchase it, sign it, and send it your way
@LZ, can't wait for that notification!
@LZ: To quote from The Princess Bride, "This isn't a kissing book, is it?"
Geist, not really. There are only a couple of times when anybody kisses.
@LZ: But do they tell?
GM, that wouldn't be proper, now would it?
Sorry I haven't really checked here much today, the internet has been almost painfully slow today. It really hasn't even been worth attempting to refresh this page.
`
LZ, that's awesome! I had no clue you were done, that's huge!
Morning kittens.
Morning kittens
@BaKhan: I like most other movies. Action and sci-fi especially. Gets my blood pumping if it's a good movie. For this woman to assume that men won't like me if I don't go see chick flicks made no sense to me. You can be feminine and not be into all of the girly stuff.
@Zem, thats what I'm saying. Don't worry about conforming to someone else's idea of what feminine (or anything else) is, you do you, however you do it! No one else can tell you how to be yourself! ;)
I bet. That was a ridiculous and horrible thing to say
The Princess Bride is really the only rom-com I've ever liked.
It may be a kissing book, but it's so much more at the same time.
Bringing up that movie may have been a bad idea, I just have that theme from Princess Bride in my head now! You know, that guitar piece they keep playing throughout it.
Ah, it's called "Storybook Love". That one. You know already.
I like that song
That movie is definitely one of my all time favourites, it just never gets old for me! ;) To me it wasn't a rom-com so much as a comedy adventure, with some kissing... ;) Plus Andre the Giant... enough said!
BaKhan, I remember the day I had the sudden major realization that Princess Bride is really basically a rom-com... and it didn't change my opinion on it one bit! In fact, I just wanted to go back and watch it again because I was thinking about it!
The Princess Bride is another good example. So many funny moments and quotable lines in that movie.
I don't know that I'd say it's a rom-com. It's more a spoof on classic epic stories, which is what William Goldman intended when he wrote the book
IN-deed!
Wow. Just found out that Anthony Bourdain has passed away from apparent suicide. I'm was shocked when I read it in my news feed. I really liked this guy. He seemed so confident and had a wry sense of humor. I will miss him and hope he found the peace he couldn't find in life.
Morning kittens.
Damn. Double damn. Gonna miss that guy.
Anthony Bourdain? Wow, I had no clue, that's surprising and terrible!
By the way, what's up with Creeper? Busy as always, I'm sure, but anyone talked with her recently? She hasn't been on here in a LONG time!
