So there I was, on aim to get back early, when suddenly someone rear-ends me. They got rear-ended, to be fair, but still. I had no damage whatsoever, they had a bit that was fixed easily, and the first person had to be towed. In total, until the police were done with us, I lost an hour and a half. Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-06-09T14:12:49-04:00
A tip for the people who don't get the precious: Get a toaster oven. Much better. You can put the butter on before toasting and it toasts into the bread so much nicer. Also, we've always had our butter on top of the toaster oven so that it gets nice and soft, and stays that way somehow even when it hasn't been hot recently, just softens it up I guess. Which is good because the better the butter is, and us being dairy snobs, the harder it is at room temp.
Jeff "Great Cane of Doom"™ Saxton 2015-06-09T14:16:18-04:00

Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-06-09T14:26:49-04:00
No, has to be spectacular, like Yellowstone or Krakatoa during an eruption. It may have to become an heirloom until they do erupt, but it'll be cooler that way.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2015-06-09T14:27:51-04:00

I had no idea Uwe Boll finally decided to chuck it in. I was watching "In The Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale" a couple of week ago. How in the world Boll convinced Ray Liotta and Jason Statham to be in that poop fest is beyond me. He must have had dirt on them.

Jeff "Great Cane of Doom"™ Saxton 2015-06-09T14:36:14-04:00
I had no idea Ray Liotta was even still acting ... he hasn't done squat worth watching since Terminator 2; and Stratham is a nobody still.
Jeff "Great Cane of Doom"™ Saxton 2015-06-09T14:38:52-04:00
Oh, wait, that's not even Ray Liotta I'm thinking of ... Ray is another nobody in Hollywood.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-06-09T14:41:16-04:00
I wonder if they'll have Liotta and Stratham in the retarded vizard. Make sure to help out, that movie looks to be as good as the only other movie I've supported, Super Troopers 2. Which got 4.5 million so far just from indiegogo, not to mention private donations and corporate funding.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-06-09T14:41:46-04:00
Though to be honest, it wouldn't take 1/10th of their $2000 goal to make a Boll movie.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-06-09T14:43:38-04:00
$5000, sorry. Hey, the creator is from Sofia, Bulgaria. I wonder if we could get Idle to star!
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2015-06-09T14:46:10-04:00
You had me confused for a moment GCoD. I love Terminator 2 and I couldn't remember him being in it. I can't completely blame Ray for some of the stuff he has been in. It's not like Hollywood is churning out movies as good as Goodfellas every single weekend. Or every year. Plus Hollywood tends to turn to younger actors so if you get a certain age, you tend to get pushed out of Hollywood. Merle Streep excluded. (See seems to get plenty of quality work)
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2015-06-09T14:47:54-04:00
Stratham has the same problem as Liotta: The right script that fits him hasn't come along very often. He was a better fit in Furious 7 but that had an all star cast. His early movies with Guy Ritchie are his best, IMO
Jeff "Great Cane of Doom"™ Saxton 2015-06-09T14:53:10-04:00
Hollywood has always churned out crap, it's just at a certain point, it becomes nostalgic crap. I never understood the appeal of Goodfellas, the Godfather films, etc. I can go to the local Italian part of town and watch them hang out.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2015-06-09T14:57:58-04:00
I can't understand the appeal of Scarface. The movie looks like a bad parody of a crime movie and Al Pacino's accent is so horrible. If that movie were made today, I think it would cause an uproar from the Cuban community.
Jeff "Great Cane of Doom"™ Saxton 2015-06-09T15:00:58-04:00
And even worse, Scarface is yet another remake. Do original ... why so many remakes, reboots, or re-launches?
Jeff "Great Cane of Doom"™ Saxton 2015-06-09T15:03:33-04:00
I'm still waiting for some shrewd Hollywood producer type to realize that if they had a going franchise, releasing two films a year, Summer and Christmas release dates, with known actors, and CGI effects, they could make a killing. Similar to the success seen on HBO or Showtime for mini-series, but released as sequential films. They don't all have to be huge blockbuster films -- just keep them coming at a known rate. The closest I can think to this happening was the three Hobbit films ...
Jeff "Great Cane of Doom"™ Saxton 2015-06-09T15:04:53-04:00
Don't just reboot Spiderman with a new cast and over-the-top effects, make it an on-going series of smaller films that can be made and released to a schedule. TV certainly does it, weekly, so why can't a film crew do four films a year? That would be eight hours of film, TV does up to 20 hours a year or more.
Jeff "Great Cane of Doom"™ Saxton 2015-06-09T15:07:12-04:00
While I wouldn't care for Spiderman, it was an example -- the comic book form is ideal for this sort of application.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2015-06-09T15:09:56-04:00
You can come up with a clever idea/good plot for a movie and still make money. The Blair Witch Project was made for $15,000 and look how much that made. Plus there are tons of stories that have never been put on the big screen.
I blame the investors who are so obsessed about making a financial killing each and every time a movie is out. A $10 million movie making a $30 million profit should be good enough for the majority of films.
I also blame the public for throwing their hard earned bucks at movies that are all special effect and sh**ty plot. (I'm looking at you Avatar)
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-06-09T15:36:10-04:00
I still haven't seen avatar, nor do I intend to. My favorite movies have great effects, amazing actors, and plots that ruin your brain, but in a good way. I'm looking at Hot Fuzz and the like. Too lazy now to think about any more examples, but you get the point.

Just had a great evening with my family and our exchange student and Spanish teacher and another who had to leave early who made food at a park. We sat talking for hours and eating. There was a cool homeless guy there we gave enough food and leftovers to last for all tomorrow. We felt bad because just after he finally came and sat at our table in the park shelter we saw it was 10 o'clock and left. Then he disappeared like an angel. I see you all slacked off while I was gone. Nothing new.

@C.F. "The Ex-President" Heyns
5 days ago you wrote:
"Shipping was an estimate and it has been said in previous updates that if you add more decks then shipping will most likely increase. It has always been a known factor."
Maybe, i did not read an update telling this. But anyway, as i did not change anything with my pledge and as i did not add additional decks, why should i pay more then "estimated" at the begin? Who made such an estimation, that seems not to be worth the spoken number? And it is not about the amount, i reclaim about the fact, that EK changed something within the project, that the backers will have to pay now. And i reclaim about the fact, that there was no comment about this before.
Look, if you order something at Amazon, they can tell you the shipping costs exactly when you checkout your order and they have much more different articles than EK, right? Why is this not possible for EK? If i have a look at other Kickstarter projects i backed, this never has been a problem...
C.F. "The Ex-President" Heyns 2015-06-10T07:17:22-04:00
@Dirk, I am tracking down the info for you.
When you backed the project initially there was a shipping amount that you had to take into account with the amount you backed. For those who didn't take it into account or for those who'se shipping costs changed, the survey is a means to rectify the outstanding amount to ensure that you get your kittens.
For example: Shipping from the USA to RSA/ZAR was set at $20. If the shipping was reduced to $18 I would have had $2 on my pledge. As it is, I ordered multiple decks and therefore the shipping costs increased. Please Note that it did not increase by $20 per deck, but was adjusted upwards on a sliding scale to account for the extra space and weight that the decks would occupy in the shipping companies transport vehicle.
I understand your frustration, but this has been said before that shipping costs could change. EK based the amounts on an initial estimate from the shipping company, due to the volume of orders and the global shipping destinations, these estimates WERE going to change, whether you like it or not. Would you prefer to have paid $30 for shipping and then give the extra money to EK if you overpledged?
Amazon has an established framework of delivery and courier services and use them as far as possible before switching the package to local delivery companies. I have ordered from Amazon and had to pay extra once the package arrived due to customs charging extra. Should amazon have taken the knock here? Maybe they do or did on other orders in other countries, not here.
Other Kickstarter projects also have their own issues/problems with delivery and or completion delays with their project. If you have never had this problem you have been very lucky.
I will continue to search for the update that states the shipping costs will most likely change.
C.F. "The Ex-President" Heyns 2015-06-10T07:23:44-04:00
Also: from the main page's reward tiers:
======
$20 reward
15,505 backers
THE EXPLODING KITTENS DECK
One copy of Exploding Kittens. (Ages 7+)
-To order multiple decks, just add $20 for each extra deck you'd like. (extra shipping charges may apply)
Estimated delivery: Jul 2015
Ships anywhere in the world
======
Extra shipping charges may apply!!
Also: If you backed at $20 and the exchange rate between countries changes then $20 might not be enough for the shipping company to ship the goods, and they therefore need to charge you $25 as an example. This is outside of the control of EK. Almost every other backer has taken any price increase in shipping on the chin and paid because they dearly want the EK decks + box set + surprise and an extra bob or two is not the end of the world.
If you feel otherwise then you can contact them with your complaints.
I am part of the Kitten Corps community that evolved out of the EK comments and I can only help you so far with queries/complaints. I will forward you comments to the EK team as well and hopefully they will get in contact with you soon.
C.F. "The Ex-President" Heyns 2015-06-10T07:28:50-04:00
And before your start to complain again, please note the following:
the original reward tier for $35 was a standard deck + 20 NSFW cards.
Due to the backers going crazy over this, the NSFW deck was upgraded to 40 cards, and then to 56 cards, making it a fully playable deck in it's own right. This was still for the $35 reward tier.
THEN all reward tiers were upgraded to include a box for holding the cards AND a kickstarter only surprise inside the box. FOR ALL REWARD TIERS. So If you backed at $20 you got the box+surprise as well. All of this was due to the backers and commentators.
You get all these extras in your pledge, at no extra cost, but as a thank you from the EK team for being awesome and supporting them.
@Dirk: All they could give was an estimate. They don't control the cost of shipping. They said that much right out front. They were up front about everything, and it wasn't just in an update. That was in the FAQ from the very beginning. It is not anyone's problem but yours if you didn't read their very large and easy to find fine print.
They say, and I quote,: "What does "extra charges may apply" for my multiple order shipping mean?
We’re still negotiating on the shipping. We’ll try to get the lowest shipping possible, but for now we don’t want to make any promises we can’t pinky swear on.
For the time being, just use the price for a SINGLE deck given to you by the shipping calculator, and we’ll confirm everything before putting your Exploding Kittens in the mail."
also they say: "Can you lower my shipping costs?"
No. We're working on getting shipping costs as low as possible for everyone all over the world, but we can't promise anyone special exceptions (even though we love you, yes you, the most). We will keep everyone updated on any reductions in shipping we're able to get you.
C.F. "The Ex-President" Heyns 2015-06-10T08:50:37-04:00

May I also chime in here?
This is not meant to be an attack of you @Dirk, but I note an amazing amount of complaints from people about the shipping price issue, when a simple reading of the information from the development team as the project has progressed would have informed them of the shipping issues/difficulties. Note that the Kitten Corps members do not have special secret knowledge of the creative teams wishes and desires, we have simply been paying attention to the information made available to all through this process. If you are unhappy with the situation (whatever the situation might be) may I respectfully request you look back through the original project and update posts? If that does not answer your question, please ask, respectfully. The KC members have been watching this comment section since day one, and yes, the creators have answered questions here that you will most likely not be able to find, so we may be able to help you once you have done your own homework. If you issue is still not resolved you can contact the creative team directly at support@explodingkittens.com.

Great job informing the complainers everyone. It never fails to amaze me how much people bitch and moan when if you look at all the extras we are getting with these decks, the extra shipping cost aren't that much. And we are going to get our kittens on time. (Or mostly) I say that is a good dang deal right there.
Jeff "Great Cane of Doom"™ Saxton 2015-06-10T09:31:34-04:00
I am convinced these folks who complain about shipping costs have never actually tried to mail anything overseas. I buy books from overseas all the time, and often, two books will have a shipping cost equal to the value of the books themselves.

Jeff "Great Cane of Doom"™ Saxton 2015-06-10T09:35:08-04:00
Lastly, the fancy Dice Box campaign has gotten under my skin. The level I backed was to have been shipped "one week after campaign end" as a special thing -- it's now almost six weeks after, and hardly a word from the Creator other than "we are having trouble getting the felt material". Really, are sheets of felt that hard to find and buy?
Jeff "Great Cane of Doom"™ Saxton 2015-06-10T09:38:08-04:00
I'm thinking instead they didn't realize felt would cost them "real money" in bulk.
Jeff "Great Cane of Doom"™ Saxton 2015-06-10T09:39:08-04:00
That is, real felt, not artificial felt ....
Powers of Tesla 2015-06-10T09:39:23-04:00
Tell him to check out craft stores, Michaels, for instance. They sell loads of that crap.
Jeff 2015-06-10T09:43:06-04:00
I had a real feel once...
it was awful.
Jeff "Great Cane of Doom"™ Saxton 2015-06-10T09:46:57-04:00
I think the size of his boxes meant he needed felt on a roll, not sheets like they sell at Michael's, and he may not have accounted for that. As an example, the cheap felt you can get at Michaels is like $7 for 25 9 x 11" sheets. Real felt is $55 a yard in bulk.
Jeff "Great Cane of Doom"™ Saxton 2015-06-10T09:49:23-04:00
I also noted he bought a $25K laser almost as soon as the campaign ended, so that's where the cash went ... and once you buy a laser, you play with that full-time and goof off cutting insects and lunchmeat into tiny pieces. :>P
Yeah...I became worried when they said that they were waiting to get the felt....might not get the boxes this year. =/
Jeff "Great Cane of Doom"™ Saxton 2015-06-10T10:38:04-04:00
I don't care that he bought a laser, I do mind that he's now five weeks past due on the initial boxes -- especially when he said they had them already made and ready for felt at the end of the campaign.

Even better, squeeze margarine in a bottle, and nuke it for 15 seconds before you put it on the fresh warm toast.

THE PRECIOUS!!!!!
Why some random volcano? Mt. Saint Helens is close enough for me ...
No, has to be spectacular, like Yellowstone or Krakatoa during an eruption. It may have to become an heirloom until they do erupt, but it'll be cooler that way.
@GCoD: margarine? Ewwww. Butter or nothing.
St. Helens was pretty spectacular ... for being in recent memory on this continent. I'll go with the Silverton Caldera for this continent in the deep past.
No butter for me, lactose intolerant ... well, I can eat it, but then I become my own Krakatoa.
How much butter are you putting on your toast? One pat usually covers an average slice.
I can sympathize with you. If I drink a glass of milk then I will be tooting a few hours later. Which is sad because I love eating Cookie Crisp cereal.
I had no idea Ray Liotta was even still acting ... he hasn't done squat worth watching since Terminator 2; and Stratham is a nobody still.
Oh, wait, that's not even Ray Liotta I'm thinking of ... Ray is another nobody in Hollywood.
I wonder if they'll have Liotta and Stratham in the retarded vizard. Make sure to help out, that movie looks to be as good as the only other movie I've supported, Super Troopers 2. Which got 4.5 million so far just from indiegogo, not to mention private donations and corporate funding.
Though to be honest, it wouldn't take 1/10th of their $2000 goal to make a Boll movie.
$5000, sorry. Hey, the creator is from Sofia, Bulgaria. I wonder if we could get Idle to star!
(See seems to get plenty of quality work)
Stratham has the same problem as Liotta: The right script that fits him hasn't come along very often. He was a better fit in Furious 7 but that had an all star cast. His early movies with Guy Ritchie are his best, IMO
Hollywood has always churned out crap, it's just at a certain point, it becomes nostalgic crap. I never understood the appeal of Goodfellas, the Godfather films, etc. I can go to the local Italian part of town and watch them hang out.
I can't understand the appeal of Scarface. The movie looks like a bad parody of a crime movie and Al Pacino's accent is so horrible. If that movie were made today, I think it would cause an uproar from the Cuban community.
And even worse, Scarface is yet another remake. Do original ... why so many remakes, reboots, or re-launches?
I'm still waiting for some shrewd Hollywood producer type to realize that if they had a going franchise, releasing two films a year, Summer and Christmas release dates, with known actors, and CGI effects, they could make a killing. Similar to the success seen on HBO or Showtime for mini-series, but released as sequential films. They don't all have to be huge blockbuster films -- just keep them coming at a known rate. The closest I can think to this happening was the three Hobbit films ...
While I wouldn't care for Spiderman, it was an example -- the comic book form is ideal for this sort of application.
I still haven't seen avatar, nor do I intend to. My favorite movies have great effects, amazing actors, and plots that ruin your brain, but in a good way. I'm looking at Hot Fuzz and the like. Too lazy now to think about any more examples, but you get the point.
Holy shit. These comments are still going strong! o_O
For some reason that made me want to make a "comment viagra" joke, but if that's true, maybe we need to see a doctor.
Also, Rein, this isn't normal. Once or twice a weekday it'll be about like this. The rest of the time it's pretty placid.
@Rein: Why is that so surprising?
Don't type in all caps at me. It's not my fault you bought a knife with holes in it. ; p
Do we know how many cards are going to be in this? I want to have my card sleeves ready xD
@Batmann there are 56 cards in each deck.
56 Cards? Way to ruin 52 card pick-up... ; p
@Batmann Leong, which sleeves do you have? I'm planning on getting some for these cards as well
Buncha Chatty Cathy's here earlier.
I've been pre-ordering some sleeves for my sweater-vests.
Ooohhh... you have to let me know where you are getting them. It is hard to find a good set of sleeves these days. It's like they almost think sweater-vests have gone out of style.
It's like they never heard of: https://www.youtube.com/watch…
Just had a great evening with my family and our exchange student and Spanish teacher and another who had to leave early who made food at a park. We sat talking for hours and eating. There was a cool homeless guy there we gave enough food and leftovers to last for all tomorrow. We felt bad because just after he finally came and sat at our table in the park shelter we saw it was 10 o'clock and left. Then he disappeared like an angel. I see you all slacked off while I was gone. Nothing new.
Morning Kittens, I see that some fun was had by all last night.
Morning Prez. How's it hanging?
From the tree with all the other monkeys. :)

Also: from the main page's reward tiers:
======
$20 reward
15,505 backers
THE EXPLODING KITTENS DECK
One copy of Exploding Kittens. (Ages 7+)
-To order multiple decks, just add $20 for each extra deck you'd like. (extra shipping charges may apply)
Estimated delivery: Jul 2015
Ships anywhere in the world
======
Is that not worth a small shipping fee?
Hi Dr P, thanks for finding those gems. Have been caught up in work and haven't had a chance to look yet.
No problem Ex. Day going alright at least? Seems hectic the way you describe it.
Support issues and tissues. luckily not my tissues.
Ah, that can certainly get intense quick depending on the field you work in.
Wow, the day started early today. Usually the fun doesn't begin until my class starts so I can't be on. I just put one good morning comment and then get back on when I can later.
I am convinced these folks who complain about shipping costs have never actually tried to mail anything overseas. I buy books from overseas all the time, and often, two books will have a shipping cost equal to the value of the books themselves.
And I'm still pimping this KS, if anyone cares:

Lastly, the fancy Dice Box campaign has gotten under my skin. The level I backed was to have been shipped "one week after campaign end" as a special thing -- it's now almost six weeks after, and hardly a word from the Creator other than "we are having trouble getting the felt material". Really, are sheets of felt that hard to find and buy?
I'm thinking instead they didn't realize felt would cost them "real money" in bulk.
That is, real felt, not artificial felt ....
Tell him to check out craft stores, Michaels, for instance. They sell loads of that crap.
I had a real feel once...
it was awful.
I think the size of his boxes meant he needed felt on a roll, not sheets like they sell at Michael's, and he may not have accounted for that. As an example, the cheap felt you can get at Michaels is like $7 for 25 9 x 11" sheets. Real felt is $55 a yard in bulk.
I also noted he bought a $25K laser almost as soon as the campaign ended, so that's where the cash went ... and once you buy a laser, you play with that full-time and goof off cutting insects and lunchmeat into tiny pieces. :>P
Fabric stores then.
@Jeff: I know what you mean. Real feels are awful.

Hmm... backed $27,769, laser engraver $25,000... yeah, something doesn't look right.
Yeah...I became worried when they said that they were waiting to get the felt....might not get the boxes this year. =/
I don't care that he bought a laser, I do mind that he's now five weeks past due on the initial boxes -- especially when he said they had them already made and ready for felt at the end of the campaign.
