I don't get it. Wouldn't that actually be $25,769 once KS takes it 10%? Now you've spent all the money on a laser machine and you don't have enough to cover everything else.
Jeff 2015-06-10T10:46:40-04:00
I'm confused, as the laser engraving is a $20-25 add-on. Now if 1000 people got the add-on, it could pay for itself. However, 348 backers pledged $27,769 to help bring this project to life. ...so yeah, it looks like priorities are a bit skewed here. Meet your pledge rewards/purchases first. They could have gotten the engraving out-sourced. They didn't need the laser engraver to get the pledge/rewards/purchases completed. Then you still need equity for potential future sales.

Jeff "Great Cane of Doom"™ Saxton 2015-06-10T10:59:04-04:00
The $20 to $25 for laser engraving has to be priced as doing it "in house" -- farming it out would be way more. The issue is he stated they were making boxes at the rate of 30 a week before the campaign ended, so how hard is it to add felt and latches and ship them -- seeing as the initial wave would be at most 50 boxes.
Jeff "Great Cane of Doom"™ Saxton 2015-06-10T10:59:55-04:00
So right now it's just a matter of him going silent ... keeping in touch with your backers is good form -- even if the news is bad.
Jeff 2015-06-10T11:09:02-04:00
348 backers, $25 engraving = $8,700. ...but engraving is only need for those that pay for it. How many people don't get their box, because they thought they needed to engrave others boxes? Is it not more professional to refund the $25, due to not being able to engrave at a reasonable cost, then to not send anyone a box?

@Zem Years ago I was part of an online Motorcycle club. One of the members, as a joke, offered a jar of air collected at 800 ft. MSL (above Mean Sea Level) for sale on Ebay. To be used to replenish the air in the front shocks for a softer ride. Before the week was done people (club members) had boosted the auction to over $20K. And there were suddenly no less than 50 other auctions, offering "Soft ride air" collected at even higher altitudes. People are:
A) Opportunists
B) Gullible
C) All of the above.
Powers of Tesla 2015-06-10T12:14:28-04:00

Well, it's extremely better than Exploding Puppies, so it's not too bad a thing.
B, none of them have a following like Inman or are so well done as this one was. This is one of the best organized, nicest products, and smoothest run campaigns I've ever seen.
I agree with you Micah. But you have to question what is going on in these copy cat's heads. Either they are just money hungry or they actually think their campaign will succeed. I am not sure what's worse.
That was actually 8000 ft. MSL
Man, I should bring some jars with me when I go skiing and backpacking! Or just make my millions selling blinker fluid.
@PoT: I'm speechless. The fact that someone would pay $20K for air and the fact the the other copy cats probably knew it was a scam and tried to profit from that.
I have some "Fountain of Youth" elixir that I'm selling for the low low price of $10,000. It looks like a regular Pepsi but that is only to fool the thieves trying to steal it from me. Any takers?
As a pilot I would be happy to take orders and fill them within a week. At the low, low price of only $500 per 1 qt. Mason Jar. I will custom fill YOUR order at any altitude you specify from 900' MSL to 9000' MSL. The field I fly from is at 850' MSL, so it's hard to go lower.
He pulled the auction before it closed, the jar broke.
He couldn't get another jar and fake it?! For THAT MONEY!
Also, hard to fly below 850 MSL there? Challenge... Accepted!
Geist, what flavor is it?
Did you know you can buy bottled farts online? Combine the two! A smoother ride. Methane bottled at over 2-3 miles high in the beautiful Rocky Mountains.
Come to think of it, I did know you can buy jarred mountain air for a hell of alot. I want to move to Frisco or something now.
Why in the world did I read the Cat Attack campaign? The game play described sounds so close to Exploding Kittens that I don't know how that can't be looked at as a copy cat. And the art work kinda sucks, IMO.
Yes, but it IS better than Exploding Puppies, Rest In Hell.
I'm surprised no one has backed it yet. All the other copiers were backed by a few here and there of the EK backers.
@B: 7 people have backed it so far. I'm surprised that they have listed a cat meme version. I'm pretty sure Grumpy Cat is copy righted so that he has to pay a royalty to the owners of Grumpy Cat.
Almost all of the best cat memes are copyrighted if they can be, so yeah, he better hope this one sinks as well.
All your memes are belong to us.
...make your time.
As long as my toast still belongs to me, then I'm fine.
@Geist, I meant I am surprised none of the EK family has backed it. I remember a few of you backing the others.
@B: Backing them to denounce their heathen ways.
@GM: lol
Yeah, some of us have a bad habit of backing a project just to rip the creator a new one.
@GCoD: I don't call it a bad habit. In the case of a scam or questionable campaign, I call it fun.
have a look at this one. looks like it could be some fun.
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1943715011/laser-cat-attack-the-card-game/description
and I meant that in a non scam way.
I saw that Ex. It did look like it has a better chance of being fun to play than EP or AC.
Funding period = Oct 10 2014 - Oct 30 2014 (20 days)

It was a bit before EK

It can't touch the real laser hero's of: https://www.youtube.com/watch…
Wow, they are popping up like weeds now. Another one called "Dog Pooh:The Card Game v2.0"
They shoot lasers out of their ears?....How do they aim properly? >.>
re dog pooh game: What is with having cards that do absolutely nothing? He listed one where you draw it but it goes directly into the discard pile.
Re: Dog Pooh, the game. 0 Backers, 9 days to go. I'd say that seems about right.
Like most of the rip-offs. That laser attack game looked good though, and it was out before this one, like Jeff said, plus with different rules as shown by the dog bite cards and dice. And more compact. Dagnabbit, we should tell him to start another with that game so we can see if it's any good. The KS staff thought it was.
The KS staff did not even pick the EK project when it was doing so well..... so they have that going for them which is nice.
*removes sarcasm gland, goes to bed*
*picks up sarcasm gland and eats it with a nice white wine and some fava beans*
Nobody has Fava Beans, they are not even real.
Yes they are.
http://www.food.com/recipe/gabriel-s-sauteed-fava-beans-117520
Shh, Geist, don't destroy his idyllic little world away from fava beans. You'll destroy his mind!
They are called Vicia faba, of the Fabaceae family. Don't call them something that they are not, just because it is easy, and others mis-name them... ; p
Fab, fava, whatever. It's the same bean. *toot*
is there an exact date yet for when games will be sent?
Sorry nobody was on, Meowmix, I think they get mailed July 15th. If you don't trust me, look in the updates and facebook page.
Zem, where did you get that date?
I can't remember exactly where, but I do remember that was the date being peddled for awhile.
It would make sense, as shipping is stated to be in July. Hopefully early in July so that we can get them from the middle towards the end, possibly the start of August then (for people outside the US and EU).
I bet that the "Surprise" is some sort of audio sample when you open the box :p
mmm.... shipping electronics in a box marked as exploding kittens seems a bit silly with the US in the state of Anti-Terrorist activities as it is. They might treat the package as explosive(s) and decide to destroy/detonate it.
It is a chip, that emits a tic-tic-tic sound, and goes Boooooooom, when you open the lid.
It's not just the US Ex Prez. I'm sure the UK, Ireland and a few other countries would do the same thing.
@Jeff: Does it cause a puff of smoke when it goes boom? If not, I demand a refund. There should be cat fur in there too...
Maybe it comes with a live cat with a stick of dynamite or some other equivalent of high explosives attached set to detonate as the lid is being opened. Hopefully the cards are in a protective casing so they aren't destroyed.
There are no cards. There is Only the chip, ONLY: https://www.youtube.com/watch…
My eyes! Jeff, that was trippy as hell. Like, not even drug stuff trippy, just so weird to see one of those things like that!
https://www.youtube.com/watch…
This is the funniest thing I've seen in a long time! This was pretty old, a chinese bootlegged version of Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith, and subtitles. I can't believe I never saw this before! The subtitles are so bad!
Just a heads-up, some mistranslations are NSFW, but are so great! http://winterson.com/2009/01/episode-iii-backstroke-of-west-redux.html
I missed the survey, the link no longer works. Can anything be done to get my deck?
Disregard, I was able to access the survey :D
*click*
That was easy.
Just been outside. It's not hot enough to fry an egg on the sidewalk yet but it's pretty steamy.
I was outside a little earlier today, and it was nice. Not too warm, but not cool either. Mind you, I was in the shade at the time.
I no longer have access to the domain which i used for Kickstarter. how can I change it?
Oh yeah, GM and Geist?! I went outside and it rained about 8 inches. It did make it a much nicer 75 degrees compared to the very nearly 100 of the last couple days.
Not so fast! I saw you typing a comment there! It's been quiet for 2 whole hours now. Why would you want to ruin that?!
Oh wait, I just ruined it. Dang!
Does anyone know when we may be receiving the game??
I filled out my shipping address form, but don't recall the shipping schedule. Please help!
Hi Claudio - They will begin shipping in July, but we don't have the exact dates.
I maintain that they said at one point, or someone with good authority, July 15th. It may be my imagination, but it's a good day to plan it for anyways.
Hi, creeper.
Such a quiet thursday.
So quiet.
Quiet enough to promote an indiegogo project that I'm doing animation work for?
Eh.
No one here to see it anyway. :P
4 comments in 6 minutes on a silent day? Sounds like attention is needed. I guess that means it's time for bed. Sorry, DDD.
No apology needed.
Which project is yours DDD?
Very quiet
