John Denver? Not a big fan, myself.
Weekend freedom!!! Except time to fill out the report about being rear-ended tuesday. And just for gits and shiggles, the officer left out the zip codes just for me! Thank Google for google.
It's Friday night and my mailbox is dead. Come on, I need to see a mail notification!
Well, there's always the second Eragon book. Does that man steal from Earthsea and Lord of the Rings or what. I'm kinda expecting to see a Star Wars star destroyer somewhere in book three.

Okay. Made it to Denver, to discover there are no cars available to rent for the next two days. None. It appears there was a hail storm that ruined every rental car in the city. Great.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-06-12T18:48:35-04:00
Shouldn't you be able to rent them for cheaper then? What, are they gonna just buy entirely new cars and throw those away? Just buy one then for like $10. I hear John Denver can be pretty understanding sometimes.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2015-06-12T19:51:04-04:00
Denver doesn't keep some of it's cars in a garage or something? You might have to take a taxi or use Uber.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-06-12T19:54:06-04:00
Dang, that sucks. Good luck finding something for transport.
1) Hail breaks windows. Can't drive a car without one, thus not rentable.
2) in for repairs.
3) Cars not rented might be under cover. Those that were rented, probably not so much.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-06-12T20:14:59-04:00
1) most of the time it's the metal dented, not the windows
2) would they pay for all of those to be repaired? I happen to know how much fixing hail dents costs, and trust me, it's not worth it. That's a huge cost you know a large company would find a way around. Like hiring carjackers.
3) then where are those that were covered? They should be available.
Lauren "MeowMix" Moinet 2015-06-12T21:20:03-04:00

Jeff 2015-06-12T21:25:51-04:00
1) most does not mean all. It doesn't take a lot of cars to be lost, to not have many to rent.
2) Insurance. If the damage cost more to repair, then they replace. They will repair first.
3) Rented, hundreds, if not thousands of cars are rented at Airports every day.
I've spent the last 10 years living in hotels, and renting cars for work. Catch the last flight in, and you might see only a dozen or so cars in the rental lots. In a lot of cases, if you have not set up an account, and reserved a rental, you may not get a car. Even if there has not been a disaster, like hail.
Lauren "MeowMix" Moinet 2015-06-12T21:52:54-04:00

Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2015-06-15T06:42:10-04:00
Mmmmm. Sounds tasty. Does a red or white wine go with that?
C.F. "The Ex-President" Heyns 2015-06-15T06:51:26-04:00
At this point any wine would do. Or whatever goes best with chicken.
But then again, if you need wine with a basic sandwich, I'd recommend a beer.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2015-06-15T07:37:01-04:00
An ale would go great with chicken. I'm not too crazy about IPAs but a light, less hoppy beer would be perfect with your sammie. Along with some nice chips or some potato salad.
C.F. "The Ex-President" Heyns 2015-06-15T07:40:59-04:00
Sadly, I am at the office, so no beer allowed during lunch time.
C.F. "The Ex-President" Heyns 2015-06-15T08:03:50-04:00
Tomorrow is however a public holiday. Which is nice.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2015-06-15T08:11:00-04:00
I don't get it. If a persons lunchtime is considered unpaid time, then how come they won't let folks have a couple of beers at the pub during that time? When I worked for a foreign government, it wasn't unusual to have some wine or beer during lunchtime.
C.F. "The Ex-President" Heyns 2015-06-15T08:40:28-04:00
Well, over here it is considered very bad form to have liquor during lunch and then come back to work. Very frowned upon. Also, HR takes a very serious stance on the matter, with warnings issued and potentially being fired for drinking on the job, arriving at work under the influence of alcohol etc. They do relax this conditions on a Friday though and are not complete heartless bastards.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-06-15T08:50:25-04:00
Ah, I was right. I knew things would take their normal swing as soon as people got bored at work and wished they were drunk. Good morning everyone.
C.F. "The Ex-President" Heyns 2015-06-15T08:51:34-04:00
Good afternoon Zem.
Jeff 2015-06-15T09:37:10-04:00
Do you really want the person who is processing your paycheck, to drop a few digits, and give you $120,00 instead of $1200.00.
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2015-06-15T10:13:29-04:00
@Ex & Jeff: Clearly you have never worked for the British. I did for almost 2 years and celebrations on the floor were stocked well with booze. Same for lunchtime. About a month after I got there, a British co-worker noticed my shock when he ordered a beer at our department luncheon. That is when he told me that it's still common place to have a pint with lunch and go back to the office.
And don't get me started on the times were were celebrating a holiday on the floor and started imbibing at 11 am.
I wouldn't mind a drink or two at lunch every now and then. Last time I did that, it was my birthday. And I was doing pretty much nothing that day too(was also within my first month of working here)
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2015-06-15T10:46:20-04:00
The Brits spoiled me. I've wandered off to lunch and had a beer with my meal and then come back to the office. Hell, with the stress that this job gives me, I'm surprised I don't carry a flask with me to work. (Hmmmmm. Maybe that isn't such a bad idea after all)
Jeff 2015-06-15T10:47:44-04:00
I was stationed in Germany for a total of 9 years. Germany... Germans... Bier... ; p
I have also trained, and worked with most European Countries, including participating in all U.N. Operations during the 80's to 00's.
It is why I have very little (none) respect, and very low regard for Europeans. ...so mentioning them, tends to prove my points. ; p
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2015-06-15T11:45:56-04:00
@Jeff: Because some of them drink during lunch hour? That is why I love some of them. We are so strict in the US about workplace rules and they were just so laid back. (Still bitchy though)
Jeff 2015-06-15T12:15:47-04:00
Nope. Because if Europe is doing something, it is a pretty good sign to not do it. ; p
-
The ancient Egyptians would give beer to their slaves at night. If they tried to revolt, they were easier to subdue. In the morning, they did not feel so well, and were still subdued. It works much the same today...
-
...and that's all I have to say about that. ; p
Geist de la Muerte Gatito 2015-06-15T12:25:10-04:00
Um, I'll have to disagree with you since I'm not technically a slave and I don't see why a light ale with my burger and fries is bad. :-P
I take it you don't travel to Europe anymore then.
Jeff 2015-06-15T12:33:58-04:00
I'm retired. I don't have to travel at all anymore. I just do yard work, and annoy people on the internets... ; p
I don't hate Europe, as hate is a negative thing. I am just not impressed by them. I have spent a great deal of time there. They are actually no different from us, good or bad. Europe founded the New World, even after independence, even today, they are still immigrating here. ...so not much difference.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-06-15T12:35:15-04:00
Ah lunch time, the break between traffic, brain death, hell, and more traffic. Oh crap, I have to go do something now. Doesn't that just figure? Actually, I just took a relaxing 20 minutes now just to eat a sandwich. Maybe I should go do that thing now.
Micah "Zem the Mattress" Philson 2015-06-15T12:38:09-04:00
Jeff, annoy people on the internet with your grammar? That's like the bad breath of the internet.
Also, I love europe because, though they have plenty of their own problems, their government isn't quite as bad as ours on average. If you find the country whose government agrees with you, you're set. That's really the one thing I actually hate about America; the way our government works anymore. It was really nice from about 1860 to the mid '70s or '80s. Since then they're just rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic.
Verily.
I got my Pebble so have the right to dig into some watchface development :P

Yeah, compile an avoid-list, lazy bum. It's only like three points.

At this point any wine would do. Or whatever goes best with chicken.
But then again, if you need wine with a basic sandwich, I'd recommend a beer.
An ale would go great with chicken. I'm not too crazy about IPAs but a light, less hoppy beer would be perfect with your sammie. Along with some nice chips or some potato salad.
Sadly, I am at the office, so no beer allowed during lunch time.
Tomorrow is however a public holiday. Which is nice.
I don't get it. If a persons lunchtime is considered unpaid time, then how come they won't let folks have a couple of beers at the pub during that time? When I worked for a foreign government, it wasn't unusual to have some wine or beer during lunchtime.
Ah, I was right. I knew things would take their normal swing as soon as people got bored at work and wished they were drunk. Good morning everyone.
Good afternoon Zem.
Do you really want the person who is processing your paycheck, to drop a few digits, and give you $120,00 instead of $1200.00.
And I was doing pretty much nothing that day too(was also within my first month of working here)
The Brits spoiled me. I've wandered off to lunch and had a beer with my meal and then come back to the office. Hell, with the stress that this job gives me, I'm surprised I don't carry a flask with me to work. (Hmmmmm. Maybe that isn't such a bad idea after all)
I was stationed in Germany for a total of 9 years. Germany... Germans... Bier... ; p
I have also trained, and worked with most European Countries, including participating in all U.N. Operations during the 80's to 00's.
It is why I have very little (none) respect, and very low regard for Europeans. ...so mentioning them, tends to prove my points. ; p
@Jeff: Because some of them drink during lunch hour? That is why I love some of them. We are so strict in the US about workplace rules and they were just so laid back. (Still bitchy though)
Nope. Because if Europe is doing something, it is a pretty good sign to not do it. ; p

The ancient Egyptians would give beer to their slaves at night. If they tried to revolt, they were easier to subdue. In the morning, they did not feel so well, and were still subdued. It works much the same today...

...and that's all I have to say about that. ; p
Um, I'll have to disagree with you since I'm not technically a slave and I don't see why a light ale with my burger and fries is bad. :-P
I take it you don't travel to Europe anymore then.
Ah lunch time, the break between traffic, brain death, hell, and more traffic. Oh crap, I have to go do something now. Doesn't that just figure? Actually, I just took a relaxing 20 minutes now just to eat a sandwich. Maybe I should go do that thing now.
Morning gang!
I'd say a couple of things about reasons for immigrating but I won't.
Either way, respect shared.
Heya Ash. Long time no spam.
Smello Smashley. Where you been hanging out?
@Idle: What you cooking me for lunch? All I got is a pb&j sammie.
